Logan's eyes flew open only to shut an instant later as an immensely bright white light burned his retinas, his vision slowly adjusted revealing a pure white place,
"Is this Heaven? How tacky, could use some color" Logan sneered, "Hahaha! First time I've heard someone say such a thing. Tacky, no one would believe if I told them" a kind, mature voice laughed out beside Logan,
Logan turned in the pristine white bed he was in to take a look at the person, the man had on a white lab coat that contrasted his black hair and silver streaks,
He had a tanned skin that complemented his dark brown eyes, the faint wrinkles he had on the side of his eyes magnified by his smile,
"My name is Head Healer Obel but you may call me Obel, pleasure to make your acquaintance Logan Kress" Obel managed to say once he stopped releasing the occasional chuckle,
"So I'm alive? What happened after I passed out?" Logan asked the head healer, "If the Royal Academy wills it, you wouldn't die even if you want to" Obel commented on the first part of Logan's question,
"We rushed in a few seconds after Aaron left the assessment room" Obel finished, answering Logan's questions,
'Aaron, that's the name of the person that saved me. Casting spells without saying a single word, there are truly amazing people in the world' Logan thought to himself.
Logan started examining his body, apart from the white hospital gown he currently had on and the memories, there was no trace whatsoever of the gruesome event he had gone through,
"Now I'm not just here for a courtesy call. Admittedly, there were some issues with your assessment and the royal family alongside the academy is looking into the matter but the kingdom has deemed it fit to compensate you for the horrid ordeal you went through" Head Healer Obel stated after he noticed Logan was done with his self inspection, his expression still relaxed,
"I was instructed to receive your requests and relay it to the kingdom and if it's unattainable, bargain with you. So Mr. Logan, what is your request?
Spells of your element? Enchanted items? Better accommodations within the academy? A specific food request? What shall it be?" Obel asked, his expression calm,
"Simple-" Logan began his request, "I want all of them" He completed his request.
"WHAT??!! The kingdom will never agree!" Obel's calm expression finally broke as he yelled at Logan before reigning himself in,
"You have a point, let me not be too greedy" Logan spoke as a humble look appeared on his face,
'Key word being too' Obel lamented in his mind but didn't say a word out loud, "I'll have a D-rank weapon, preferably a tachi, enchanted clothes, and six spells of my element" Logan reduced the number of things requested for,
"That's still unreasonable! A D-rank weapon is enough to cover for your worries, not to mention that spells of your element have a higher value than others and the uniform of the academy is already enchanted, what do you need enchanted clothes for?!" Obel yelled again in such a high voice that Logan thought he was going to have a stroke,
"Normally you'd be right if you weren't missing a few key details. The beast was capable of a prowess far beyond what the D-rank holds, it was at the C-rank at the least and A-rank at most, a mere sliver of its energy could have killed me.
Secondly, the spells are to balance the value of the beast alongside the D-rank weapon and as for the clothes, it's not all the time that I'll be in the academy and as such need clothes that can withstand the might of my spells, especially the new ones I'm about to get" Logan explained with a smile that widened at the last part of the statement.
'This insufferable…' Obel cursed halfway in his mind before taking a deep breath and calming himself, "But six spells is far too much" Obel still retorted, "And the academy could not take care of its assessment, not to mention gross incompetence that an institution of this regard should not be known for " Logan replied immediately,
"Fine, I'll inform the kingdom of your demands" The head healer sighed before walking away from Logan's bed and out the door on the distant right,
'I honestly don't expect them to give me all I asked for, it's just me setting a high bar so that when they fall short, it'll still play out in my favor' Logan sighed in his mind as a brief wave of relief hit him, he had made it into the academy.
Obel walked in interrupting Logan's thoughts, "So the kingdom has agreed with a part of your request. You shall be given a pair of enchanted clothes, an enchanted D-rank tachi and two spells of your choosing, the kingdom will not accept any compromise" Obel stated firmly the last part,
"Deal" Logan immediately agreed, he was greedy but not foolish enough to incite the fury of the royals and nobles alike,
"You have rested well enough to be sent to the academy. Classes for first years will begin tomorrow and here's a little bit of advice, don't strain your mana core too much.
I say this because when you were brought in, your mana core had a faint crack, it luckily healed up well but it won't always be that way" Obel warned before waving his left hand at Logan,
A deep green tracksuit appeared on Logan's chest, "Your uniform. Get ready and follow this" Obel spoke and handed Logan a small glass like rectangle,
"Pour your mana into it" Obel gave an instruction that Logan didn't hesitate to follow, his mana entered the rectangle and golden runes flashed on its surface for an instant

A display of text appeared on the surface of the item, "That's a communication tablet, your personal information is on there as well as a detailed map of the academy and all its facilities, your class schedule will be sent to you after you pick the classes you wish to attend" Obel explained the general functions of the tablet,
Logan was about to speak when his tablet buzzed, he looked at its flat surface
[REMINDER! Mandatory Orientation in five minutes!]
Logan read it in confusion, "I understand that students are taken into the academy after they pass their assessment which is why I am here but isn't the orientation meant to be a month after the last set of people to take the assessment- the sixth batch?" Logan asked Obel with confusion in his voice,
"Oh, you have been unconscious for two months" Obel casually revealed,
"WAIT, WHAT??!!!" Logan screamed from shock.
Unbeknownst to both men present, the tablet in Logan's hand glitched,
