Chapter 14 - Flames of The Past(2)

Logan in a state of shock looked at the three people that had been following him for who knew how long.

"See what I was saying? The freak could sense us coming" The younger version of Blondie told the twins he was with.

'Well it's not as if you were being quiet!' Logan complained in his mind.

"How about we teach him a lesson?" Blondie suggested to his cohorts before charging in.

'There's actually no way that he'll attack me with a spe-' Logan's thoughts were interrupted by a fireball leaving Blondie's hand in his direction.

Logan quickly cast one of the three spells he knew at the time.

A black membranous shield formed just before the fireball could reach Logan.

The shield held its own against the fireball but before Logan could retaliate, he noticed something was wrong.

His eyes darted in Blondie's direction, he couldn't see the twins.

'Where could they be?' He asked himself and got the answer in the form of two hands touching him from either side.

"Charged Body!" Both twins yelled at the same time as lightning started to crackle on their hands.

Lightning flowed into Logan's body, stopping his motor functions and sending him into a seizure.

Blondie and the twins then surrounded Logan and started beating him with their fists until they got tired and left.

Logan woke up hours later to discover his face swollen, his body bruised and full of cuts.

Even breathing was painful but at least he had food to eat.

Logan looked for the bag containing his dried fruits and vegetables only to discover that it was missing.

Blondie and his friends had taken it.

Present Time…

Logan stared at the person in the room as soon as the memory ended, rage he had long since suppressed threatening to burst out of him.

"Fre- I mean Logan" Blondie took a step forward to which Logan cast a Dark Shot in response.

Remembering their last fight, Logan looked at Blondie's right upper arm where the dark shot had hit to see the damage it might have caused but the long sleeves of the tracksuit he wore covered it.

"Put the spell down, I only want to talk" Blondie said calmly causing Logan to laugh in response.

Hearing the laugh that seemed filled with unreserved joy sent shivers down Blondie's spine.

"The rules of the academy don't allow students to attack each other unless during a duel or a spar" Logan suddenly stated one of the rules of the academy.

"But I'm sure I can get away with this while receiving nothing more than a slap on the wrist" He concluded before firing the dark shot.

Blondie flinched and closed his eyes expecting to feel the mind ravaging sizzling pain associated with the spell.

He knew that Logan wouldn't kill him but he might have to go through hell pain wise to cover for that.

Much to his surprise, he heard something collapse and when he opened his eyes, he could see one of the tables had a hole through one of its legs causing it to topple over.

"But I won't waste my leverage over the academy on trash like you" The leverage Logan was referring to was the hush 'gifts' the academy was going to give him on the kingdom's behalf.

Ignoring the stupefied Blondie, Logan sat on his bed and pulled out his tablet to pick out the classes he wanted to attend.

Blondie climbed up to the top bunk without saying anything.

"Jack. My name is Jack" Blondie spoke before going silent.

Logan ignoring Blondie or Jack apparently went back to focusing on the screen in front of him.

[SELECT YOUR CLASSES]

[Mana Forging]

[Mining~Extraction of Magical Resources]

[Runic Formations]

[Beast Taming]

[Beastiary]

[Summoning and Familiars]

[Theory of Mana] selected

[Battle]

[Healing]

[Blacksmithing]

[Alchemy]…

Logan scrolled through the long list of available classes for him.

According to the rules of the academy, one had to select a minimum of three classes.

Luckily, the "Theory of mana" was compulsory, making it easier for the students to pick any two classes of their choice.

But all things considered, Logan planned to pick to pick three more classes to attend out of the limited choice he had.

Although all classes were displayed, they were written in three different colors; red, yellow and green.

Classes like [Runic Formations] and [Alchemy] were in red,

[Beastiary] and [Blacksmithing] were in yellow and those like [Battle] were in green.

Logan scrolled down the list and selected the classes he wanted to attend.

He had selected two and was about to give up on finding a suitable third one when he saw a class that caught his attention to the fullest.

[Body Enchantment]

This class in particular was at the very bottom of the list- almost as though someone didn't want others to find it.

And despite the fact that it was yellow, Logan selected it and now his four classes were.

[Theory of Mana]

[Battle]

[Mana Arts]

[Body Enchantment]

Looking at the list, Logan nodded to himself before confirming and submitting his class choice.

The tablet in his hand went blank for a moment before it came up again.

This time, with a new detail.

[Class: Battle Mage]

Somehow Logan knew that the class he had been given was as a result of his class combination.

Scrolling through the tablet again, he quickly opened the map and used it to find the cafeteria.

The place in question was in the main academy.

Logan left the dormitory for boys and headed down the paved road.

He stopped only when he stood in front of this Victorian like castle.

It had grey stone walls that appeared to stretch as far as his eyes could see as well as stone gargoyles lurched on the highest point of the castle.

Logan walked up the stone steps and then the two large wooden double doors that were already open.

The inside was in vast contrast with the outside.

It had white walls with a six colored pattern swirling around.

The walls had the illumination crystals that were embedded into them forming mystical patterns and shapes.

Logan ignored the details and walked to the end of the room and found a teleportation ring similar to the one in the dormitory.

He entered and called out the floor number before he vanished.

When he appeared, he ignored the faint nausea and navigated his way to the cafeteria.

When he walked through the door, he saw a large tiled room with circular tables each sporting five chairs.

He ignored the other students in the cafeteria and walked to one of the empty tables.

He placed his hand on the rune embedded crystal on the table and following the instructions on the tablet, ordered his food.

A plate with a masterfully prepared steak appeared in front of Logan with a white glow.

As far as he knew, he had not eaten anything in over two months.

He was about to dig in when someone swatted the food off his table and unto the floor.

He looked to see who did it and much to his surprise or rather not, he saw one of the people who glared at him.

The one who called himself a noble.

But rather than let the noble act, Logan decided to act this time.
