"Yahaha! So this is the power you think can resist me?"
Accompanied by his trademark bizarre laughter, a man draped in a white scarf, bare-chested, and wearing traditional bloomer-like pants descended above the Sky Temple.
This man arrived cloaked in lightning. He was barefoot, holding a golden staff, and had four large drums adorned with three tomoe each affixed to his back. He was none other than the self-proclaimed god of Skypiea — God Enel.
Hearing Enel's voice, the old monk Seng Zheng and Urouge immediately walked out of the room. At this time, the monks of the Sky Temple had also gathered. As they saw Enel standing atop the Sky Temple's roof, all of them showed expressions of fear.
"Enel, what are you doing here?" Seng Zheng looked up at him, his voice stern.
"I heard everything you just said." Enel raised his golden staff and pointed at Urouge beside Seng Zheng. "The so-called 'Karma Fruit' he ate... is that the power you think can oppose me? That's hilarious!"
Enel's Mantra — an advanced form of Kenbunshoku Haki (Observation Haki) combined with his Goro Goro no Mi (Rumble-Rumble Fruit) powers — functions like a vast radio network. As long as he wills it, every conversation and movement in the Sky Island is within his perception. Thus, the exchange between Seng Zheng and Urouge had been heard word for word.
Originally, Enel had been cautious of the Sky Temple's so-called divine weapon that could threaten gods. When he last came, he discovered that their sacred weapon — the Divine Pillar — could harm his Logia body, so he refrained from taking action.
Now, upon seeing Urouge — someone who had inherited what the monks called the 'power of karma' — Enel couldn't help but laugh. This was the so-called power that once made him wary?
He now wanted to show them that their 'karma' was nothing in the face of divine lightning.
"Such a weakling wants to challenge me, a god? Don't make me laugh!"
Arcs of electricity surged across Enel's body. He pointed toward the sky — lightning sparked from his fingertips and vanished into the clouds above.
"El Thor!"
BOOM!!
A massive bolt of divine lightning crashed down from the heavens, engulfing both Seng Zheng and Urouge. When the light dissipated, the two lay on the ground, their bodies charred black.
"Seng Zheng!"
"Urouge!"
The surrounding monks screamed. Enraged, they surged toward Enel with their weapons.
But Enel didn't even flinch.
As the monks charged, several figures appeared behind Enel and leapt down to intercept them.
"They're the Four Priests!"
"And the soldiers of the Divine Guard!"
"Lord Enel, why did you come alone? That's too dangerous!" said Ohm, the stern herdsman in charge of the Trial of Iron.
"Yahaha..." Enel laughed carelessly, reclining atop the roof. "You're all too slow."
"You're just too fast, Lord Enel," grumbled Shura, the Sky Knight who oversaw the Trial of Strings. He looked at the monks below and smiled confidently. "Lord Enel, you may rest. We will handle this."
"Fine, then work hard." Enel waved his hand indifferently and pulled out an apple, lazily munching on it.
"Enel!!"
A voice roared from below. Salman, one of the Sky Temple's elite monks, leapt into the air with a black hexagonal pillar in hand and smashed it down toward Enel.
"That pillar again..."
Enel's eyes narrowed.
The weapon Salman wielded was the legendary Divine Pillar, a sacred staff made of Seastone — a substance that negated Devil Fruit powers.
Enel had grown up in the temple of Birka. It was there he discovered the Goro Goro no Mi, which granted him his lightning powers. But once awakened, his ambition grew uncontrollably. He destroyed both the temple and his homeland in a lightning storm.
He later learned that another holy site existed — the Sky Temple. Half a year ago, Enel attempted to conquer it but was unexpectedly struck by the Divine Pillar. Caught off guard by the Seastone, Enel had been forced to flee in humiliation.
Now, having learned that the Sky Temple's sacred power is the Karma Fruit, Enel no longer saw it as a threat. He believed its power to be vastly inferior to his Goro Goro no Mi. As for the Divine Pillar? Now that he knew its limits, it didn't scare him. Yes, it could hit his real body — but only if it could hit him.
"Die!" roared Salman, swinging the pillar at Enel.
"Iron Whip!"
Ohm appeared in a flash and struck the Divine Pillar with his Cloud Sword, enhanced by an Iron Cloud Dial. The immense force sent Salman flying.
"Ohm!" Salman growled as he landed hard. "Get out of my way! I'll kill that bastard Enel!"
"I'm afraid not," Ohm replied calmly, adjusting his glasses. "As a priest, I cannot just watch someone attack Lord Enel without acting."
"Then I'll kill you first!"
Salman lunged again, Divine Pillar raised high.
"Iron Western Sword!"
Ohm's Cloud Sword shot forward, the blade extending like a spear aimed straight at Salman's throat.
Clang!
Salman blocked with the Divine Pillar, but the impact knocked him back once more.
Ohm gave chase, his blade morphing mid-air. Thanks to his Cloud Shell, his sword could stretch, bend, and reform — as light as a cloud, as hard as iron.
Salman, one of the Sky Temple's strongest warriors, might've had greater brute strength. But against Ohm's skill and versatile weapon, they clashed on even terms.
Suddenly—
"Karma!"
Urouge appeared again, charging through lightning and flames. His massive fist, empowered by the Karma Fruit, rocketed straight at Enel.
