Chapter 4 - Divorce

Ethan Mo was shocked when he saw Lena Su spit out a mouthful of blood. A sharp, inexplicable pain suddenly stabbed at his heart.

Lena had always appeared gentle and quiet in front of him. Before marriage, she smiled warmly; after marriage, she was patient and stubborn. But now, she looked completely dead inside, like she no longer cared about anything. He had never seen her like this before.

Noticing Ethan's wavering expression, a flicker of jealousy and hatred flashed in Meng Kexin's eyes. She whispered, "Ethan, your mother is already gone. Don't make things harder for Lena. She just lost the child she finally managed to conceive—she must be devastated. After all, everything she did was for you. Please don't blame her anymore."

To Lena Su, those hypocritical words sounded utterly ironic. She could no longer suppress the fury in her heart. She grabbed a fruit knife lying nearby, sprang to her feet, and lunged at Meng Kexin.

"Shut up! Meng Kexin, you vile woman! I'll kill you!"

In that instant, Ethan instinctively moved to shield Meng Kexin, turning his body and pulling her into his arms. The fruit knife slashed across his arm, cutting a deep wound. Blood instantly soaked through his white shirt, dripping down his arm to the floor—unstoppable.

"Lena Su, who are you putting on this pitiful act for? You're the one who did wrong. You're the cruel one here, aren't you?"

With those furious words, Ethan kicked Lena hard. She fell to the ground again, the knife slipping from her hand and clattering onto the floor with a sharp sound.

Lena lay on the ground, seemingly oblivious to the pain, staring blankly at him. When Ethan shielded Meng Kexin from the knife, she heard the sound of her own heart shattering—her whole world collapsing.

And those words he said—they tore her soul apart piece by piece.

Meng Kexin screamed and pressed against Ethan's wounded arm, crying and accusing, "Lena, it's one thing for you to hate me, but how could you hurt Ethan like this? Is this what you call love?"

Tears streamed down Lena's face as she shook her head in disbelief, unable to defend herself.

She never imagined Ethan would risk himself to protect Meng Kexin. She had never intended to hurt him!

Ethan stared at her coldly, his eyes devoid of any warmth, as if looking at a dead person. "Lena Su, you deserve to die."

Lena's tears ceased. She stared at him, stunned.

He said she deserved to die. He hated her that much? So much that only her death would bring him peace?

His words pierced her like a thousand arrows, cutting her heart into pieces, suffocating her.

"I deserve to die? What about Meng Kexin? You'd rather believe the woman who murdered your mother than believe me? Ethan Mo, I'm your wife!"

Her voice trembled with heartbreak. For this man, she had sacrificed fifteen years of her youth and even lost her child. How blind had she been?

But Ethan only sneered, as if she had told the funniest joke.

"If it weren't for avenging my mother and having the chance to torment you every day, do you really think I would've married you? Lena Su, don't overestimate your worth."

His cruel words shattered the last shred of hope in Lena's heart.

She had thought that no matter how much Ethan hated her, a part of him still cared—after all, he married her.

But now, she realized it had all been a delusion.

She had endured two years of torment from Ethan, and now she had lost her child. If loving someone meant paying such a devastating price, she no longer had the strength to continue.

"Ethan Mo, I've already paid the price for everything I've done to your family and to you. A life for a life—my child already paid that debt. From now on, we owe each other nothing."

Lena Su's face was resolute, her eyes full of exhaustion and sorrow.

"Ethan Mo, let's get divorced."
