"Parallel universe!?" Kingpin, who stood off to the side, looked at the older, more world-weary version of himself—Fisk—with a complicated expression and muttered to himself.
Fisk ignored Kingpin's doubts. He slowly turned around, crouched down, and gently looked at the terrified Vanessa and Richard.
His eyes were filled with tenderness and sorrow, like he was gazing upon long-lost loved ones.
"Don't be afraid. I won't hurt you. I finally get to see you, Vanessa." Fisk's voice trembled with emotion, the culmination of years of longing.
To find Vanessa and Richard, he had endured countless hardships.
He had spent unimaginable manpower and resources—he even built a particle collider at all costs—just to retrieve Vanessa and Richard from another universe.
Fisk reached out, attempting to hug Vanessa, but the motion immediately provoked Kingpin's fury.
Despite his serious injuries, Kingpin surged forward and threw a punch. But his weakened state drained the blow of its power.
Fisk easily sidestepped the attack and swiftly countered, landing a hard kick that sent Kingpin flying. His body arced through the air and crashed violently to the ground.
"How could someone as weak as you protect Vanessa?" Fisk sneered coldly. "This world is so unfair. How can someone like you still have Vanessa, while my Vanessa is gone?"
His face twisted with rage, and his eyes shimmered with madness.
Alex Ray's eyes burned with restrained fury. He couldn't tolerate Fisk's twisted arrogance any longer.
He raised his hands slightly. A surge of magnetic energy flared from his fingertips, pulling steel bars from the surrounding wreckage.
The bars launched toward Fisk and wrapped around him tightly, binding him in place.
Then, Alex gave Kingpin a quick look, silently signaling him to get Vanessa and Richard out of there.
Though Kingpin was still reeling from the appearance of this parallel version of himself, he knew the priority right now was keeping his wife and child safe.
"Thank you, kid. I owe you everything today," Kingpin said, his usual cold dominance replaced with rare, heartfelt gratitude.
Vanessa and Richard looked at Alex Ray with equal parts wonder and appreciation.
Holding them close, Kingpin quickly fled the scene with them in his arms, his heart a storm of emotion.
He looked down at the family he'd almost lost, his heart aching with guilt and helplessness.
He'd always tried to shield them—but this time, his failure had nearly cost their lives.
He couldn't bear to imagine what would have happened had Alex Ray not intervened.
Perhaps the other Kingpin—Fisk—had once faced that very nightmare.
He might have already lived through the agony of loss and the crushing weight of powerlessness.
"Vanessa, Vanessa! Let me go, I have to find Vanessa!" Fisk shouted like a madman. Though tightly bound, his obsession with Vanessa consumed him.
Alex Ray stood in front of this alternate Kingpin, fully aware of the torment that had driven the man across dimensions in search of a dead love.
Without his intervention, Kingpin's Vanessa and Richard might have been murdered.
"Tell me, which parallel universe are you from?" Alex asked, though he already had a good idea.
Fisk began to calm down, scanning Alex with a suspicious gaze.
His expression was wary and uncertain—he clearly didn't recognize Alex at all.
"Who are you? I don't remember ever having someone like you around me. You seem pretty close with the Kingpin here." Fisk's tone was probing.
"I'm his godson," Alex Ray replied.
Fisk burst into laughter, a twisted mix of disbelief and bitterness.
"Hahahaha! Me? Raising a godson? That's rich. Kill me now!" His laugh was edged with sarcasm and self-loathing, as if mocking the very idea of himself mentoring anyone.
Alex didn't respond immediately. He watched Fisk's face, noting the conflict hidden beneath his words.
There was something deeply broken in Fisk's eyes—an emotion Alex couldn't ignore.
"Are you really so ready to die?" he asked quietly. "You haven't even found your Vanessa."
Fisk's eyes softened at the name. Grief and longing flickered across his face.
He looked down, silent for a long moment. When he raised his head again, his voice was dry and hoarse. "I'm still Wilson Fisk. Do you think I'd beg for my life? If I did, would you even let me go?"
"I should've died long ago. But I didn't expect to see Vanessa before the end. That's enough."
"The Vanessa here has her own Kingpin."
"It's time I go find mine. Do it."
"Didn't your Kingpin teach you to root out the weeds completely?"
Alex Ray gazed at him silently. The fire in Fisk's eyes had dimmed. There was no more fight left in him—only quiet resolution.
Without another word, Alex clenched his right hand.
The steel bars responded instantly, twisting and locking together, forming an unbreakable cage.
Fisk's strength faded. His breathing slowed. His eyes grew blank and glassy—like a statue whose soul had already left.
Even then, Alex didn't lower his guard.
He stood like a predator in the ruins, eyes scanning every shadow for signs of movement.
"You hid well," he said coldly. "But after watching all this, don't you think it's time to come out?"
His voice echoed across the silent space.
No answer.
"You think staying invisible is enough to fool me?" Alex's lips curled into a sneer. "Do I really have to ask you to come out?"
He extended a hand and released a wave of chaos magic toward a seemingly blank wall.
"No, no, no—wait! I'm not hostile!" a youthful voice cried out in a panic.
The wall rippled like the surface of disturbed water.
Then, from the distortion, a figure slowly emerged.
Dressed in a sleek black Spider-Man suit, the figure raised his hands in a defensive gesture—clearly surrendering.
Alex Ray recognized him instantly.
A black-suited Spider-Man, turning invisible? There was only one person in the multiverse that fit that description.
"Little black spider, take off the hood," Alex commanded.
The figure hesitated. "Uh... Sir, I don't think that's a good idea. Secret identity, y'know?"
Alex scoffed. "Cut the act, Miles. Not many invisible wall-crawlers wear that suit. You've been exposed since the moment you showed up."
The black-suited Spider-Man flinched.
He pulled back the mask, revealing the familiar face of Miles Morales.
Alex Ray sighed. Of course it was him—the protagonist of that animated multiverse film from his past life. The one black Spider-Man who stood out across realities.
