Chapter 4 - 4. The Scam Called the Pure Yang Body.

Almost the instant Miyauchi Hinata heard the notification in his mind, a wave of intense heat surged through his entire body.

And it was only then that he remembered—through his memories from his past life—what the Pure Yang Body actually was.

"Goddammit, of course I'd get the most troublesome one!" Hinata cursed his newly acquired cheat while hastily stripping off his clothes.

Even though it was only March, it wasn't until he was down to just a thin undershirt and had thrown open the window to let the chilly air in that the burning sensation began to subside.

The Pure Yang Body—it sounded like some over-the-top constitution from a fantasy novel, and to be honest, that's exactly what it was in Genshin Impact.

In the game, Chongyun was born into an exorcist family and trained diligently in the arts of banishing evil. Because of his innate Pure Yang Body, his body constantly emitted a righteous aura so powerful that it repelled evil spirits just by his presence. In fact, Chongyun had never even seen a demon in his life—not because they didn't exist, but because they'd run away before he ever arrived.

From the perspective of being immune to all evil, it was indeed an extraordinary divine constitution.

But… there was a catch.

A big one.

In Genshin, this Pure Yang Body came with a very annoying side effect.

As Hinata wiped the sweat from his forehead, he realized—just as he expected—he was burning up. His body temperature was already over 40°C. That's full-blown high fever territory.

But the kicker? This was the Pure Yang Body's normal temperature.

And come summer? He'd be running so hot he could land straight in the ICU if a doctor checked his vitals.

That elevated body temperature also came with a very inconvenient "hot-blooded" effect. In Chongyun's character bio, it's mentioned that just eating a chili pepper made him so impulsive that he lost control and acted completely out of character.

To suppress this condition, Chongyun followed a strict set of self-imposed rules:

No hot drinks

No hot food

No spicy food

No thick clothing

No arguing

No anger

No going out on hot days

Always carry an umbrella when outside...

By the time Hinata finished recalling all this, he was gritting his teeth and clenching his fists, ready to curse out the damned diary that gave him this junk reward.

He used to love spicy food in his past life. When he found out that Japanese green peppers were trash, he had even smuggled in some Sichuan chili seeds just to grow them for personal use.

And now? With this Pure Yang Body, he couldn't even enjoy hot meals, let alone spicy ones. In exchange, he'd become immune to ghosts.

...Not that he had ever seen a ghost in the first place.

"But now that I have this diary, who knows what's going to start showing up…"

Hinata massaged his temples, sighing.

After experiencing reincarnation, his entire worldview had shifted. If, say, Father Pucci from JoJo suddenly activated Made in Heaven to reset the universe, and Chaldea from Fate showed up to fix the singularity—he wouldn't even be surprised anymore.

The only reason he hadn't encountered anything paranormal before was likely because Asahigaoka was the setting of a wholesome slice-of-life anime. Of course there were no ghosts in a place like that.

But based on the usual tropes in web novels he'd read, anytime a protagonist received a cheat like this, it was bound to become relevant soon after. If he ended up with a ghost-busting physique and didn't encounter a single spirit by the end, the author would've gotten flooded with hate mail.

That was why Hinata had written in his diary hoping for a normal reward.

If he'd gotten some classic literature from his past life, or skills like cooking or painting, then great! He could happily live his life writing diary entries, building his business empire, and cashing in cheat rewards.

But now?

He had to start worrying about beings from the supernatural side taking notice of him. Even if he wanted to keep a low profile and farm rewards in peace, his very existence now repelled evil so strongly that even ghosts would run away on sight. It was only a matter of time before someone noticed.

"This diary just wants to push me into the spotlight and attract attention..."

He could already see it coming. In those diary-based web novels, once the protagonist wrote something like "I have a passive ghost-repelling ability," all the diary-holding heroines plagued by supernatural problems would start flocking to him. He'd help them one by one with his special ability—and of course, that would inevitably lead to… entanglements.

Even just imagining it made Hinata's head feel fuzzy.

And that was bad.

He had already developed a solid resistance to girls in this life. But this Pure Yang Body truly lived up to its name—his impulses were flaring up again.

He quickly shook his head to snap himself out of it. He couldn't afford to lose control now.

In the game, Chongyun was a pure-hearted exorcist boy. Even when he lost control, the worst he'd do was say, "Today's expenses are on me!" and slap some talismans on someone.

But Hinata? He'd lived two lives. His thoughts were much darker and more complex. He was honestly afraid that one day he'd snap and wake up surrounded by evidence of… girl-shaped chaos.

Thankfully, once Hinata calmed down and focused on his body, he realized that the version of the Pure Yang Body he'd received wasn't as extreme as Chongyun's.

Maybe it was a nerfed version. Or maybe, because it came from the diary, he had better control over it.

After experimenting for a few hours—and just as the rooster in the next yard began to crow—he finally figured out some basic techniques to regulate the heat.

He was still far from suppressing it entirely, but at low-power mode, his body temperature was only a couple degrees above normal. It wasn't enough to make him go berserk.

As for its effects on ghosts or evil beings? He hadn't encountered any yet, so no way to test that.

"Tomorrow I'll be more careful... maybe test if I can handle mildly spicy food or warm meals."

He could probably still try lukewarm dishes and lightly spiced stuff. But hot baths? Hot springs? Yeah, those were off the table for the foreseeable future.

Realizing that made him sigh, but he also made a decision: he was going to start carrying a big black umbrella whenever he went out to stay out of the sun.
