A month went by of individual mentoring. Terri and Eve continued to sit with the guys at lunch. Eve had started taking tutoring from Phil and seemed to be beginning to fall for him.
"You have a crush on Phil, don't you?" Terri asked Eve in the hallway on their way to English. Phil and Andy would typically meet the girls and walk them to class. Today, however, they had an upperclassmen convocation.
"Am I that obvious?" Eve asked Terri in reply.
"Well, you were looking around for him, seemed pretty upset to learn that he wouldn't be walking us to class." Terri pointed out to her as they walked.
"Well, Phil is super nice and he pays attention to me. I've never even had a guy take a second look at me before." Eve told Terri looking excited yet torn. "Besides aren't you falling for Andy?" Eve looked to Terri expectantly.
Terri didn't answer. She contemplated this in her head. Was she falling for Andy? The creepy guy who watched her sleep. He could be a smart-ass as Tanner would say at times, but at other times he seemed so gentle like when he was drawing, or when they went to grab coffee and joked around in the hallway. He was even sweet sometimes when he walked her to class, held the door, or carried her books for her. His smile was adorable at times. He could take her breath away with a look.
"Earth to Terri? Your not going to pass out on me again are you?" Eve asked sitting beside her at the table. Eve snapped her fingers in Terri's face.
Terri moved her head trying to clear it. "What? No I was just thinking. " Terri replied. She hadn't realized she had stopped walking.
"Well, you sure looked like you were having some kind of vision. We better hurry or we will be late."
They hurried down the hallway to Miss Jeffers English class. They stepped through the door as the bell rang.
"Eve, Terri it us very unlike the two of you to be late to class. Let's not make a habit of it." Miss Jeffers then turned to address the entire class.
Eve and Terri hurried to their table. They quickly got their notebooks out and ready.
"Today we will begin learning about poetry." Miss Jeffers began. She continued on in her lecture writing extensive notes on the board.
Terribtook vigorous notes and Eve listened intently.
After class was concluded Eve looked over at Terri. "I am lost. I'm so confused on the difference between a haiku and a sonnet. Plus, I have no clue what iambic pentameter is." She looked both flustered and concerned.
"I'll help you. We can study together. How about Saturday afternoon?" Terri asked her.
"Well, I'm supposed to have Science tutoring with Phil, but we will have to make it work. I need all the help I can get. Maybe Andy can come too and help you with Math." Eve smiled brightly like she had the best idea ever.
"Yeah, maybe." Terri replied she felt uneasy about Andy now. She didn't know if having a outside work relationship with him was such a good idea. She did need the help when it came to Math though.
"Well, we can always ask. I'll see you in Science." Eve told her heading for the door.
Terri looked up and noticed Phil and Andy waiting at the doorway. Phil grinned from ear to ear as Eve approached him.
"After you my lady." Phil told her motioning out the door and bowing to her.
"Why thank you good sir!" Eve replied then giggled and looked arms with Phil as they exited the room.
Terri collected her things assuming Andy would follow them to History class. She bent down to grab her bag and then started walking to the door. When she looked up, Andy was still standing waiting on her at the door. He had a deep intense look on his face.
"So, how is your Math class going?" Andy asked her. He reached around and grabbed her backpack off her shoulder to carry.
Terri continued walking as she replied, "It's okay. We have small quizzes every week and a lot of problems due each day. Eve and I were going to have a study session on Saturday. I guess Phil is tutoring her for Biology. " Terri told him wondering if she sounded dumb to him. It made her nervous knowing he was basically a genius.
"Phil told me he was going to tutor Eve. We could all have a study session at my house Saturday. There's a lot more room there. My Dad will be out golfing. Mom will probably be volunteering at the hospital. Tanner will be in his room playing X-Box all day. We would have the entire den to ourselves." Andy suggested. He looked at Terri with a hopeful expression.
Terri could see the eager expectation in his eyes. There was also a fear of rejection she could sense with the way he dropped his eye contact and shrugged. His body almost looked deflated by making the suggestion.
"Yeah, that would be good." Terri replied. "As long as it is truly a study session."
Andy looked up meeting her eyes with a huge smile. "I guess we will have to keep Phil and Eve apart then." He said with a chuckle. "I think they like each other a little more than friends."
"Yes, I agree." Terri said also laughing. She turned to walk into her Math class. She took her bag from Andy. "I'll see you at lunch, Andy." Terri told him.
"Yeah, I'll save you a seat." Andy told her with a wink. He strode off back toward his History class. His stride was confident and determined.
Terri sighed as she watched him walk away. Man, was he hot! He has such a nice butt. Terri blinked a few times clearing her head. She turned and went to sit at her Math table.
