Chapter 10 - (VIA) Chapter 10: Being Fought Over by Two Women is Not a Good Thing

Viego looked at W beside him, then at Ines standing opposite, feeling a little confused.

How did the atmosphere suddenly become so tense?

I shouldn't have that much charm, right? To make a crazy woman like W, who probably doesn't even have a concept of romantic love, and this tall, cold woman I just met for the first time, fight to the death over me?

Viego shuddered, thinking he had better not become one of those cringey, overconfident guys.

—Otherwise, the woman beside him might just chop off his lower head, ensuring he could never become a cringey, overconfident man again.

Viego thought for a moment and decided it was best not to get involved in a war between two women. So he quietly took a step to the side, wanting to retreat to a safe spectator distance without alerting the two women who looked like they were about to start fighting at any second.

I've never seen women from another world fight before. I wonder if it's also the three great moves: hair-pulling, face-scratching, and clothes-ripping.

Viego's gaze fell on Ines's thighs, which were wrapped in over-the-knee boots, her white skin almost dazzling. He frowned slightly.

He hadn't noticed it when he was standing next to W just now. But now that he had taken a step away, as the connection between Viego and the Isolde fragment inside W's body rapidly weakened, a faint anomaly on Ines suddenly became prominent.

Viego could vaguely sense that within Ines's body, there seemed to be... another fragment of Isolde?

But the feeling was very weak. It might have been an illusion. Without touching Ines's skin, it was almost impossible to confirm if it was real or not. Ines was wrapped in a cloak, and the only part of her body exposed was her thighs, so Viego's gaze subconsciously drifted to her legs.

—After all, his current situation was really not good. The fragment inside W might be completely absorbed by him at any time. To be able to discover more fragments at this moment meant a greater chance of survival for Viego. Viego didn't want to die, so he took matters related to the fragments very seriously, even though he really hated Isolde.

SHING—!

A dagger and a spiral short-sword cut through the air, almost simultaneously pointing at Viego's throat.

"What are you looking at?" Ines's eyes were somewhat icy.

To be fair, Ines's figure and appearance were top-tier. In a chaotic region like Kazdel, the trouble she encountered because of her appearance was not insignificant. But those troubles would all be resolved under her sword. The only reason Ines didn't directly stab her sword into Viego's eyes was simply because she felt that Viego wasn't really interested in her legs, nor did he have any offensive thoughts.

Viego's gaze was actually very indifferent, with no emotion showing through, just like the emptiness and nothingness Ines had sensed in his heart. Looking at her legs was just like looking at an object.

—An object that might be useful to him.

But it was also this kind of gaze that made Ines even more vigilant. Viego reminded her of those Leithanian Casters, whose elegance revealed a hint of madness, those experimental lunatics who covered themselves with hypocrisy...

Viego looked at the sword and dagger that seemed ready to pierce his throat at the slightest disagreement and sighed in his heart.

Is this country called Kazdel full of lunatics like this, who will kill you at the drop of a hat? I haven't even had a chance to speak yet, I just took one step.

He looked at W, raising an eyebrow slightly, as if to say, And why are you pointing your dagger at me?

Why could two women who were at each other's throats one second, unite against a common enemy the next, and point all their weapons at me, the spectator? It can't just be because I have a dck, can it!*

W smiled brilliantly. "Viego, where are you going?"

I'm fcking standing here, about to fight this idiot woman Ines to protect you, and you're trying to sneak away to watch us fight to the death? How could I let you have it so easy?!*

"..." Viego was silent for a moment.

Question: I've simultaneously stepped on the landmines of two women, and neither of them is easy to deal with. What should I do now? Urgent, waiting online for a quality answer!

If I say some cheesy harem-protagonist line like "You are both my wings," I'll be chopped into minced meat, right?

"Moron." W looked at Viego, sneered, and sheathed her dagger.

Ines glanced at W and similarly retracted the spiral short-sword in her hand. She had been using her Originium Arts on W just now. Although she could sense W's wariness towards Viego, what she felt more was trust. Trust coexisting with vigilance, it sounded strange, but in Kazdel, this was actually a very normal phenomenon. Ines's attitude towards W was similar—even though she herself would never admit this fact.

Ines saw W's attitude towards Viego, so she temporarily gave up the idea of continuing to test him. For now, this man's threat was not too great. If she insisted on making a move against him, she would definitely clash with this crazy woman W. The location of the Babel commission was just ahead. Ines didn't want to cause any more trouble and reduce their effective strength.

This man's matter should be left for Heavily to decide. She just needed to bring the intelligence she had gathered to him accurately.

Ines sheathed her sword, the expression on her face returning to its usual coldness, and turned to leave.

W seemed not at all surprised by Ines's abrupt change in attitude. The moment Ines lifted her leg, she started walking, as if she had been waiting at the campsite all this time just for Ines's arrival.

Viego reacted for a moment, then quickly followed W.

"This long-legged woman is on our side?" Viego asked.

"Is your f*cking brain only filled with legs, legs, legs?!" W stared at Viego unpleasantly. "I am on your side, you are not. So watch your mouth, Viego. If you get your tongue cut out for saying the wrong thing, I won't help you."

"If Heavily acknowledges him, then he is one of us, W," Ines's cold voice came from ahead.

"He is my person, Captain Ines," W's words carried a warning tone.

W wasn't stupid. Of course she could sense Ines's wary attitude towards Viego. She knew that what Ines meant was, if Heavily acknowledged Viego, then he would be a member of the mercenary group, and which team he joined would be entirely up to the leader's assignment. If Viego fell into Ines's hands, who knew how he would be treated.

"He still owes me a very large sum of money, you know." W said with a smile, but Viego had a feeling that she was about to launch a cannonball at Ines in the next second. "I won't let him go, you know? Unless Captain Ines is willing to spend money to 'buy' him out?"

"Hmph... put away your useless vigilance, W." Ines sneered. "Whether he stays or leaves is not for you to decide—unless, you are willing to leave the team for him?"

Viego looked at the two confrontational women, not understanding, a bad premonition rising in his heart.

Bad. How did I seem to become the object these two women are fighting over?

This, this isn't right, is it?
