Chapter 4 - Chapter 3

Kat's POV

"Come by my house later and we'll talk more." He told me as he left with two more of the halters. I could tell he wanted this, but didn't at the same time.

He's a great family man when he's sober. I don't know if he'd break his habit to raise a family is the only thing.

Once I got off work, I went over to Zach's. I passed Buck's house, and they were on the front porch talking as I drove by. Then I remembered they didn't know what my truck looked like.

I drove past the barn to Zach's. He stepped out onto the porch as I parked and got out. We went into his living room and sat across from each other.

He rubbed his face with both hands, then looked at me. He sighed, then leaned back into the couch. "I can't believe it." He finally said, shaking his head.

Zach's POV

Not seeing it at all, but I may have been drunk off my ass at the time. I was at the bar and I remember seeing her there along with her friends and cousin.

"Are you sure?" I asked her. She slowly nodded. She looked so innocent in all this. While my parents have to drag me to church, she goes willingly and pays attention more than I do. She goes to every church event, while I might go because I have to.

Total opposites of each other. Why was she even at the bar in the first place? The way she's sitting is adorable, though.

Kat's POV

"Why were you even there?" He asked me. "Thought after dinner we were going to a movie. Never will I let Jasmine drive again." I said as I crossed my arms.

He mimicked my stance but set his foot on his knee. I didn't exactly want to be here. He wanted to discuss this, so what's more to talk about? "How about I call you when it's born and then we can go from there," I told him.

"As long as you stay for dinner." He told me. Crap, but I need the proof he's not the father. I stayed for dinner, and he actually could cook if he wanted to.

I left about two hours after arriving. He's going to drive me crazy.

I looked up from a display I was working on to see Jack. My best friend since elementary school. Same age, only difference is he's a month older. "Rumors going around that the youngest Ray got you pregnant." He said, coming up.

"By who?" "Who do you think?" He asked. I rolled my eyes. "She's worthless at spreading rumors. The old ladies at the hair salon know more true rumors than she does." I told him as I got a box of Front Line Plus, flea and tick repellent, out.

"They said that they believed it. Maggie was even there." Oh crap. "Yeah, I know your mom is a stylist. She said all this when she heard it?" I asked. "She put her two cents in, saying that you'd be good for him."

"Yeah, and your buddies with him," I said, stacking the boxes on the shelf. "So, I'm not going to him and asking if it's true. You know if his brothers heard it, he'd be in a world of hurt."

"The whole town knows that Buck and Colt would chew him out for it. Not including Joseph." The door opened, and all three brothers came in. It's pretty rare when all three come to town or the feed store.

"Same as always," Buck said as he went into dad's office. I rang it up and waited. "Got any tick collars?" Colt asked. "Check by the fly repellent," I told him. He could act like a two-year-old sometimes.

"They should come out with flea and tick halters. That would help us." He said, setting several on the counter. Buck came out looking mad. He slammed the door as Colt paid.

"Both of us heard from our mom about it. I bet he just talked to your dad about it." He said before Zach walked up. He's been trying to avoid me the whole time he's been here.

"See you Wednesday at church," Colt yelled. "Tell Buck I said congrats," I yelled back. He gave me a thumbs up before closing the door.

Three months along and six more to go. Cravings haven't kicked in yet. Oh, wait, I'm now craving chocolate cake. Great. I waited out the craving by snacking on M&M's, it's the closest thing to chocolate I've got.

Sawyer came in, glaring at me. Well, one thing I know is that I will only see him here and at one holiday during the year if Zach is the father and if he wants to marry me.

I ignored him and went back to my candy. "So is it true Ray got you pregnant?" He asked unsympathetically. "Is it any of your business?" I asked him.

He continued to glare at me. "It's not working." I told him. He thinks he can run my life like my brother. "Sawyer you either leave or buy something." I told him.

"I'm not leaving until you tell me if its true." Sawyer told me. "Dude she gave you two options." Zach said setting several lead ropes on the counter. "No one asked for your input Ray." Sawyer told him.

"I don't care if anyone asked for my input. I was stating obvious." Zack told him. I rang them up and bagged them staying quiet the entire time.

"Oh when did you want the horse trained?" Zach asked me. "How about I bring him by later?" I asked. "Sounds good." He told me.

Something tells me he also wants to have dinner. "You better just drop that horse off and come straight to my parents' house." Sawyer told me before leaving.

Oh yeah the weekly meal at the aunt and uncle's house. Hate it so I'm pretty sure I can skip it.
