Chapter 6 - The Wandering Ranger. Part 1

"Hah... Hup! Phew! There we go, this should be more comfortable for her. Hopefully she doesn't get too scared when she wakes up..."

"Ah! What am I doing...? I should get going... but she's alone. I can't leave her asleep right here, can I...?"

"What do I do?"

The girl tried to think of a solution but it all ended up blank.

"Hm... This is my first time visiting Rinascita but... Well, it's fine. I still have a lot of time anyways. I'm sure General Jiyan wouldn't mind."

Her gaze locked onto the body of the sleeping girl. Just now, she had just repositioned her from body from the door way onto a makeshift bed she had created from a bunch of soft grass stuffed into a sack.

A few hours passed since then.

It was about to turn morning, but the girl still haven't woken up.

"I wonder what happened to make such a young girl so exhausted?"

She took note of the scratches all over the girl's hands and legs.

Even some part of her shirts had small torn in them.

The girl was quite short. If she were to make a comparison, she's probably around 30 centimeters shorter when compared to herself?

It was an estimate, so she wasn't really sure about the exact difference.

But it should be a pretty close number.

Based on the injuries on her bodies, it doesn't seem to be the doings of bandits or mercenaries. Perhaps she was running away from something?

While in the process, she had probably tripped over rocks and stones, before finally reaching this place.

"What a tragic situation. I wonder where her guardians could be? Don't worry, once you wake up, I will bring justice upon the ones that led you here!"

The girl smiled softly while thinking of possible futures for the black haired girl.

Her eyes softly glowed red, before sunlight entered through the window, immediately hitting Katsuri's face.

"Ahhhh! I'm sorry! Let me cover you!"

Panicked, the girl quickly got up before covering the girl under her own shadow, effectively blocking the sunlight from flashing the unconscious girl.

Though there were better ways, she thought that if she were to touch the girl again, she might get startled and wake up.

That would've been fine normally but this girl was quite battered up. She thought that she'd need more rest now than ever.

So now she awkwardly stood in between the window and the unconscious girl with both hands trying to cover as much surface area as possible using her shadow.

"Hah... If I were still in Huanglong, I could've called over Chixia for help..."

Unfortunately, she doesn't know of anyone in Rinascita, so she's practically a foreigner in a strange land.

Suddenly, a thought passed through her head.

There is a way to both continue her journey and keep the girl safe.

"Should I just... carry her all the way?"

Although she did not think that touching an unconscious person was alright, she had already done so earlier when she moved the girl around the small house just to make sure she'd sleep comfortably.

Now that she had done it once, it doesn't really matter if she does it a couple more time... right?

"But my sword... they're quite worn out already..."

It's true. She had fought off two different Tacet Discord with tough skin last night, it makes sense her blade wouldn't be able to handle such tough force.

Her gaze landed on the sword that was scattered on the ground, which had most likely belonged to the unconscious girl.

If Katsuri was still awake, she would've had her head spin while thinking 'What the f---? Didn't I bring along a gun yesterday!?'

Alas, that couldn't happen.

The girl thought that as long as she brought the unconscious girl to a healer, it would be good enough as a repayment for treating her body quite roughly.

Besides, she's small enough for her to be able to bring her along using one arm, effectively making her other arm free.

As a sword user, it was quite a bargain!

Placing her own blade on her waist, she got a hold onto the blade near the door step.

"Woah! Quite a light sword, this one is. It feels like wielding a feather!"

She spun it around with ease that would've made Katsuri coughed up blood had she seen what happened.

'I struggled to even balance myself trying to hold that thing!'

Of course, she doesn't know what happened due to her exhausted state.
