Chapter 42: Rage Unleashed
Luca's heart thundered like a war drum in his chest. His eyes, bloodshot with fury, stayed locked on Janet's trembling frame. The image of Dmitri daring to touch her burned into his memory like a brand.
With a sudden roar, Luca clenched his fists and pulled—the ropes snapped, his skin tearing, but he didn't care. Rage made him unstoppable.
He charged.
Dmitri barely turned when Luca's fist collided with his jaw, the force sending him flying across the room and crashing into a metal table. Janet gasped, eyes wide with disbelief.
Luca turned to her, chest heaving. "Are you okay?" he asked, his voice softer now, trembling with worry.
Janet, still in tears, shook her head. "No…"
His hands, bloodied and shaking, moved to untie the ropes around her wrists and ankles. Each knot loosened carefully, like unwrapping something precious. Her skin bore red marks from being bound so tightly.
"Hold on, Janet," he whispered, brushing her cheek.
But just then—a sound of rushing footsteps.
Dmitri, blood dripping from his mouth, screamed and rushed toward them again, madness in his eyes.
