I quietly closed the door on my way out, as to not wake him. Not that it really mattered though, as I really wasn't quite when I was in there.
I turned around and noticed how big this apartment looked… It wasn't my first time seeing this as I already saw it when Ken checked up on me, but I was somewhat surprised that he owned this place and maybe lived here.
I started walking down the hallway to see if there was an elevator or any stair nearby, when I saw someone coming out of their room. I called out to see if they could help me, but once the woman saw me, she immediately jumped back into her room and slammed the door.
Was I really that rude… sorry, her, not me! I keep forgetting that I'm not her…
I kept walking and after a minute or two made it to the end of the hallway. I definitely heard a couple people lock their doors when I walked by, which made me mad but I need to remember this wasn't my doing.
I finally could see an elevator, and clicked the button to get in. There was at least two floors above me as I saw the number change from 5 to 4, then 3, and stop. Now I know which floor I'm on.
The doors slowly opened and I walked in. There was a man inside who jolted at the sight of me and moved as far away from me as he could making sure to not make eye contact with me… I could feel that same anger from before burn up inside me. Before doing anything rash, I needed to calm down so I took a breath, which made the man flinch.
I honestly felt bad for these people, what did Lydia do to make everyone so scared of her…
After that thought I realized… Anyone could have killed me if almost everyone hates me…
This realization made me feel a bit depressed… I was reborn into someone hated. Not that I was popular or anything before, but this feeling of people hating you or being mad at you for something you didn't do really feels bad.
What felt like ages had finally come to an end and the elevator opened its doors. I was going to let the man go first, but I realized he had no intentions of doing that, so I got out.
There wasn't much on the base floor, just the exit, two doors near the elevator, and some mail boxes. Honestly, for the look of this apartment, it was surprising that it even had an elevator. The apartment looked to be pretty old and not taken care of that well as it was pretty dirty. It was also built with red bricks, with a good amount of them looking pretty cracked.
As I walked by I turned my head and brushed a finger across the brick wall…
I bet without all of this dirt and dust, it'd look pretty.
While thinking about the aesthetic of the building, it reminded me of something. I once wanted to be a building designer… It never worked out… Well, more like I never got the chance. Maybe in this new body I could help clean this place!
Yes! Yes that'll work!
I walked out of the building with a grin, I knew what I wanted to do with this second chance I've been gifted with… or I thought I did. Before my plans had even tried becoming plans, they crumbled down.
My grin quickly disappeared as I noticed the surroundings. I looked around and could now see why this building wasn't taken care of… none of the buildings around were.
They were falling apart, one of them… wait no, way more than one building looked like large objects had crashed into them.
As I looked around I saw a meteorite crash into another building. I was about to scream but then I realized, no one around me seemed to care. It was as if this was a normal occurrence for them.
I continued looking around some more and noticed that there weren't many people around. It seemed like I was in a huge city with many buildings around, and a couple skyscrapers in the distance. So why was it so… so much like a ghost town, or more appropriately, a ghost city?
I started walking down the street without paying attention to the road… there was no need to as there weren't many cars driving by… not very surprising as the roads were filled with gaping pot holes.
After some time I noticed a coffee shop in the distance and decided to see if they were open. It was getting dark already so I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't.
Even though it was extremely late, which I was only guessing as it was pretty warm out, and that would indicate that it's summer time, and the sun sets later during the summer around 7 or 8 PM which-
Sorry, I got side tracked…
Even though it was late I still wanted coffee. I had just been killed, and in no way do I feel it would be safe going to sleep in the house I just died in… ESPECIALLY with that alien.
I arrived at the coffee shop and noticed a clock through the window that said it was 7:36PM. I also noticed that the coffee shop closes at 9PM.
Maybe I should grab the other stuff I need first and come back here later… Since I don't really know when the other shops close and I'll probably be back within an hour.
I started walking toward the direction that I could see some signs when I saw someone walking right toward me. He wasn't paying attention to his surroundings at all, and before I knew it, we ran right into each other.
"HEY-" before he could say anything I cut him off…
"WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING!!" I screamed in the most aggressive tone that I'd ever heard.
The man froze before quickly apologized in a panic and ran off. I quickly realized what I had done and reached my hand out to also apologize but it was too late.
WHAT WAS THAT????
I've never screamed at someone before… I'm also usually the one apologizing as people run into me all the time…
I don't know what happened but in the moment I felt an insane amount of rage build up… and the worrying part is that I think it happened before he ran into me…
Don't get me wrong, him running into me ticked me off, but I feel like when I glared into his direction my blood started boiling. His unawareness and care for the people around him angered me…
I took a deep breath to calm down… What was I doing… He wasn't paying attention but I was… So why did I purposely run into him?
Before I could finish that thought, I realized I had made my way over to the sign I saw earlier. It was a small corner shop, which had a sign saying it closed at 9PM as well.
This will do, I thought to myself as I walked in.
