"Oh…" I wasn't expecting that…
"I'm sorry, I didn't kno-" I cut myself off… for some reason, it felt like I did know.
"Nah, it's fine." He finished his drink and looked over at the employee and nodded his head as if to signal that he liked it.
"Anyway, I was asking where you work?" He looked directly at me.
I was surprised by his forwardness, but also confused why he kept asking me the same question.
"It feels like I know you?" When he said that his gaze felt piercing, in a hostile way.
I really feel like I know him as well… Definitely not someone close or the 'boyfriend' that Ken mentioned, as Yuri doesn't fully remember me either. Maybe a colleague?
"Hello?" He waved his hand in front of my face annoyed.
I awkwardly laughed and said that I was spacing out as I reached for my wallet. I may have a business card or something useful in there. I opened my wallet and in the middle pouch I noticed a card that would typically be a license, but it seemed to be a clearance card. I took a closer look and noticed there was a photo of me and it said that my name was Lydia Hunter, which was nice to know my last name… clearance A, female, ID#, and some other random info. The real important thing I noticed was the company name.
Trying to not look suspicious, I closed the wallet and answered him.
"Sorry I'm really tired, but I work at Lunar Labs." As soon as I said that my heart sank. I don't know why but something felt wrong, and it didn't help that his demeanor immediately changed after hearing this…
Wait, why was he asking me this?
"Why? Where do you work?"
He didn't respond, I could tell he was thinking, contemplating something… I probably should leave.
I finished my coffee and told him I should be heading home. He agreed and took my cup and returned them to the front. I don't know what he was saying but I could tell he was probably apologizing for the broken cup as the lady looked a little shocked that it broke in such a way.
This was my chance… I quickly shoved my wallet in my pocket and grabbed my bag. I exited the building and started walking away when I heard his voice.
"Leaving without saying pak—bye?" As he said this I felt a chill. He said it in a very serous tone as if I had done something wrong.
Which I guess I sort of did…
I turned around and thanked him once more for saving me. I told him goodbye and walked away. I don't know why but he was giving me goosebumps. Lydia probably did know him, and not in a good way.
As I walked home, I started noticing more egg shapes around. I realized they had been there the whole time, but I just paid no attention to them earlier. I even saw another person in the far distance being engulfed by it. Again though, it felt completely normal. It honesty shocked me how fast I was adapting to this new world.
Though, I was starting to get scared about the things that I was adapting to from her while not knowing why. Such as the anger issues… as I feel like I have little control over my temper now, but the main thing I'm scared about is who killed me.
It had just hit me that I was casually strolling around after being murdered… who's to say that the murderer isn't still here watching me now. Could they be following me? Do they know I survived Wait… could Yuri have been the one who killed me? Is that why I was getting nervous around him?
No, no, no! Why would he have saved me then? If he killed me and saw me walking around wouldn't he have wanted that meteorite to hit me? Though before I could finish my thoughts on this, I felt a sharp blunt pain on the back of my neck, and I lost consciousness.
I'm not sure how long it had been since I was knocked out, but I slowly started to wake up. I realized that I couldn't move any of my limbs, as they felts restrained. Because of this, it jolted me awake in a frenzy.
I looked around and noticed that I was tied to a chair in a closet of some sort. It was a pretty big closet with some random things here and there. I couldn't fully tell what they were though as it was too dark to see.
I tried to scream for help but my mouth was taped closed. I wasn't sure who did this, but I didn't want to find out. After a bit of squinting, I could see the outline of a door. Weirdly, there was no light coming from the door… was there no light on outside, or was the door sealed? Whether or not the door was sealed though doesn't really matter. So I quickly started to shuffle the chair toward the door.
Sadly I must have used to much force and the chair flipped and smashed my face into the floor. My nose started bleeding and the chair with my body weight was shoving my face into the floor, which didn't help as that caused the pain to be much worse than just hitting it.
I tried to move but I couldn't, I was stuck. Without realizing I had started to cry… probably because I was scared. What was going to happen to me? In pain. Why did I have to land on my face? But most importantly, I was extremely ticked off with my self. I ruined my chance of escape…
After what felt like ages of pain, I could hear someone slowly opening the door. I was still stuck lying on my face so I couldn't see who they were, but I could slowly see the light creep in and the shadow of a figure.
Whoever it was, slowly walked in and crouched in front of me. I still couldn't see them, and I was too scared to try, so I pretended to still be asleep. Maybe I could buy myself some more time.
After a couple of seconds, they got up and started leaving-
They stopped. Turned on the lights, and from what I could hear, turned around.
"I know you're awake."
I froze. Was it over?
"Stop pretending and get up." The voice quickly retorted in an angry fashion.
Wait a second… I recognize this voice…
"Hellloooo?"
That voice… "YURI???"
