Chapter 3 - Crimson Flare

Moro sat down in a classroom in the middle of a massive greenhouse with his teacher and 20 other students. This was kudo training. It taught both the basic and advance knowledge of Kudos training. That way, they always had something to teach while being able to change their course, and it did not seem too forced.

The teacher, a tall pale man with yellow eyes, green hair, and a cape around his teacher's uniform, constantly pointed to his whiteboard while talking. "I'm sure you all know the 7 basic classes of kudo. Beast, spirit, water, dragon, humanoid, machine, and tier 0. However, we've never gone over how the first 6 can fuse together. Many kudos can have up to 2 different combinations. Kudos don't have DNA; instead, they clearly have some sort of genetic structure. Yet, even 340 years after the first kudo was discovered, we still don't know."

This class... was boring. Moro wasn't alone. Uvie was right next to him, his only friend in this class, though she was laser-focused on the exam. "What a simpleton." Moro said under his breath. Easy to please and hard to break. She wasn't even taking notes, and Moro knew her more than long enough to know how she studied... she didn't. She was just paying attention to lose the information minutes later. But despite being a cute bimbo, Moro found her charm endearing.

"Now, you will pair up into groups of 3 for our first assignment. By the end of the school day, bring me back a lorkon. You have 20-minute breaks between classes, so you have more than enough time."

The class started murdering amongst themselves with panicked looks. Rightfully so. Lorkon were the bird-like kudos that flew above the city, which made flight difficult. Capturing one alive was harder than just killing it, especially with how deadly and ruthless they are.

He instantly got up and approached Uvie. "Uvie, wanna be partners?"

"Ah, sure! This will be so much fun."

The class ended, and the first 5 minutes of the first break flew by. Meanwhile, Moro and Uvie were on top of a cliff, they were well above the city. Kudo fighting was prohibited in the city, so they'd need to get the lorkon high enough not to get arrested by government law. But low enough to where they would lack oxygen. In terms of assignments, especially for the first ones of the year, this was the definition of unfair. Moro suspected 68% of students wouldn't fail this first assignment. But he would not join the majority.

"I wonder how Milk and Calvin are doing."

"They both had trigonometry first. Calvin probably hates his life right now, and Milk probably already knows how she's going to ace the first half of the year."

Suddenly, a flying object flew past them. It was a giant bird the size of a car. A hunched, demonic bird. It wore a tattered hood that covered most of its head, leaving only a jagged glowing green beak exposed. Two long, curved horns rose from its head, glowing at the tips, and its body was wrapped in dark, layered armor with glowing green highlights, and its tail ended in a sharp hook dripping with the same green ooze that poured from its mouth.

"Well, that thing is horrifying," said Moro with a smirk on his face.

Uvie used her fingers to make a box around the bird as it flew, trying to gauge its flight patterns. "If we mount our flying kudos, it will probably alert the other lorkon. We'll be swarmed by dozens in seconds."

"So, what do you recommend we do, oh great and wise Uvie? How are we going to take down the Thanksgiving turkey?"

"We could use Eternity's ability."

"Don't you think that's a bit overkill?"

"You're right... Ok, I'll get its attention, wait to strike."

"Sounds like a plan, captain."

Uvie summoned a kudo beside her. A muscular man with long silver hair tied in a high ponytail and glowing yellow eyes. His buff upper body was uncovered, with sharp claw-like red nails extending from his fingers. He wore a red rope sash and a layered black-and-red hakama with ornate patterns and armor plating on one shoulder.

He bowed on one knee before her. "Mistress, how may I assist you today? My body and soul are yours to command."

"Hey, Jehva, you think you could stop that giant chicken from moving without killing it?"

"If it is your will, mistress, I shall make it so."

"Before you go, let me feel your abs." she said while drooling and looking at him.

Moro pinched her cheek. "Uvie, we got 12 minutes to get that overgrown family bucket meal. Focus on the mission, be horny later."

"You're not fun. Well, Jehva, launch an attack to grab its attention."

Jehva unleashed a burst of red, purple, and black flames that erupted from his hands. It reached into the sky and shot right in front of the Lorkon. The kudos eyes grew with fury, and it dove bombed towards Moro and Uvie.

Moro summoned Rui to his side, who, with Rui's ability, sliced the bird's wings off. The lorkon fell to the ground at a rapid pace. He quickly looked up to make sure none of the other lorkon were detected.

Uvie extended her hand, and suddenly, a wrist gauntlet appeared on her left arm. From its top, it fired forth a lasso made of blue light. It shot down the cliff, and with it, she captured and tamed the lorkon. It went into her inventory in her brain.

"Why didn't you do it?" asked Uvie.

"No interest in a lorkon for me personally. Plus, you like collecting kudos Ms. 1,000 kudos."

She chuckles. "Caught red-handed. I would have probably tried to seal if from you, even if you did try and catch it. Though it doesn't really match my main goal."

"Which is?"

"Building a harem of male kudos."

"Why am I not surprised? You know, I'm surprised I don't meet more people like you, trying to fulfill their sexual fantasies with their partner, kudos."

"Oh, that definitely exists. Just look on the internet. But enough about that. Well done on taking down the lorkon so effortlessly. Rui has been trained well. Still, that ability of Rui's is just unfair."

"The technique of the Nekross; allows the target to slash any solid, liquid, or plasma-based matter so long as they can see it with their eyes. If only I had a kudo that could heal wounds, Rui wouldn't have to be so uneasy about fights all the time. Anyways, let's go and pass this assignment. No need to wait."
