Chapter 12 - Ep 12 - Inside Her

The Maou family's living room had never felt this tense. Lily sat cross-legged on the floor, eyes closed, glowing faintly with swirls of red and gold light. Sakura paced, phone in hand, trying to reach any magical specialist she could find. Ragna stared out the window, sensing the pulse in the air — a beat that wasn't part of this world.

Earlier that day, Lily had woken up crying. She didn't know why, but everything felt wrong — like she had dreamed a future where everyone was gone.

"I saw everything burning," she had whispered. "You were both gone."

Her powers had erupted in a flash, setting off every magical sensor in Japan.

Now, the family was on edge. But danger wasn't going to wait.

The ground split in the middle of the street outside their apartment. A tear opened in the fabric of space, and from it stepped a tall, armored figure — eyes burning blue, horns curved like blades. Lord Kael'Rith, First General of the Nine Rings.

"I've come for the child," Kael'Rith declared, voice shaking glass. "Surrender her, and your deaths will be painless."

Ragna stepped outside first. His calm demeanor belied the rising fire in his veins.

"Listen, I haven't fought anyone in years. My wife gets cranky when I scorch the sidewalk. But for you?" He cracked his neck. "I'll make an exception."

Kael'Rith charged, and the battle began.

Ragna shed his human guise. His hair flared into flame, black robes turning to spiked obsidian armor. Sakura unsheathed a blade she hadn't touched in years — the Hero Blade, glowing with divine light. Together, they moved like a storm — one of fire and one of brilliance.

They clashed with Kael'Rith in the middle of the street, each blow sending shockwaves through the air. Cars flipped. Streetlights exploded.

From their apartment balcony, Lily watched, trembling. She could feel it — the magic, the fear, the pain inside both her parents. Her own aura burned, white and red flames swirling in a confused storm.

Then, a vision hit her.

A future. A world in ruin. Sakura dead. Ragna back on a throne of bones. Lily herself alone, crying on a battlefield under a broken sky.

"No," she whispered. "That's not real. That's not who we are."

She jumped from the balcony.

Mid-fight, Ragna was knocked back, skidding through a ramen cart. Sakura blocked a strike that split the road. Kael'Rith loomed, raising his spear.

And then — Lily landed between them.

A shockwave of light and fire blasted outward. Kael'Rith was thrown across the intersection. Sakura and Ragna blinked, stunned.

"Don't hurt them," Lily said, arms outstretched. "Don't hurt my family."

Her aura had stabilized. Half of it was radiant white, warm and bright like dawn. The other half was crimson flame, intense but controlled.

Kael'Rith rose, limping.

"So... the hybrid awakens."

"I'm not just a hybrid," Lily declared. "I'm Lily Maou. And you're not welcome here."

She clapped her hands together, forming a sigil — one her parents had never taught her. A pulse of ancient power surged out. Kael'Rith howled and vanished into smoke, forced back into the portal he came from.

Silence fell.

Then Ragna burst out laughing. "That's my girl!"

Sakura collapsed to her knees, both from relief and exhaustion. Lily ran to her, hugging her tight. Ragna joined them, wrapping them both in a fiery bear hug.

"I was so scared," Lily whispered. "I didn't want to lose either of you."

"You won't," Sakura said, her voice soft. "Not ever."

Ragna looked at his daughter — glowing, powerful, brave — and something inside him shifted.

"I used to think being strong meant ruling," he said. "Now I know it means protecting."

Sakura nodded, eyes glassy. "And being human doesn't mean being weak. It means I get to love you both."

The family stood together as the sky slowly returned to blue.

Later that night, Lily drew a picture. It showed a small girl standing between a fiery demon and a golden hero, both smiling.

She taped it to the fridge with a heart sticker.

"I'll protect both worlds," she said, proud. "Because I'm not just a hero or a demon."

"I'm me."
