Chapter 4 - Chapter Four: Party with Real Monsters!

Entering through the big, wooden attic door upstairs in the Alive at Midnight Mansion, I didn't know what to expect. It was filled with party guests in animal masks. There were colorful party streamers and black and orange balloons all over the foggy floor.

Kids were laughing and talking. Playing games. Like a group of kids were playing the Twister board game. They were sprawled over the white colorful dotted game board. While the other main player, was spinning the circle to get the other players to touch the color dots on the game board with their hands and feet.

I turned and noticed the girl who greeted us earlier today, was sitting down in the corner of the attic. Drinking punch from a plastic red cup in her hand. She looked so unhappy, all of sudden. I wanted to cheer her up.

When suddenly, a couple of dudes in animal masks. Nearby us, grabbed hold of a nerdy, scrawny boy. And was shoving his head into a pool filled with red delicious apples bobbing at the surface of the tank.

They were getting too rough and wild. Yoyo, and Greg tried to help the poor, defenseless boy get away from the bullies. Who were taking advantage of the young red-haired boy.

Greg and Yoyo quickly shoved and pushed the older jock off the young boy victim's sides. Pulling the boy out of the tank, the little nerdy boy victim held a red delicious apple in his mouth he had caught. He smiled and pumped his hands in the air with victory! Then, the boy took a bite out of the apple. And walked away from us.

Turning to look at the sad, down girl sitting down in a chair next to corner of the window in the attic, Yoyo, Greg and I went out to greet and introduce ourselves to the down, little girl. Who was drinking cold, spicy, punch from a red plastic cup in her hands.

"Hey!" I said, cheerfully. But the girl in the Egyptian costume didn't seem to notice me. She had her eyes on the tank. Where she seemed to be more interested in bobbing an apple, herself.

She turned slowly to us. "Are you having fun at my party?" the girl asked, not really excited about it. "I'm upset because I was hoping my boyfriend from school would make it here, already. He's a no show. So, I'm sad he didn't get my invitation in his text," the party host said.

Suddenly, the kids playing the Twister game all screamed at once. As they fell on top of each other. While losing their balance, they laughed and collapsed on the Twister game board.

I frowned at the party host, taking a sip of her spicy fruit punch. "Sorry he didn't make it," I said, honestly. "Can I be your date to the party, tonight? I'm sure I'm just as cool as your boyfriend would be?" I asked, politely.

The red-haired party host, stared at me and burst out laughing. "You are not going to take my boyfriend's place," she said, angrily. "He just didn't get my text invitation, is all. Besides, he's got a busy life. He has a part-time job at the local restaurant as a busser. So, I'm sure he's got an explanation for not showing up to my party, tonight," she said.

I didn't know what to say. Suddenly, the music got turned up louder by the black African American DJ at the radio station table. The kids started cheering for joy. As they jumped up and down, rocking to the hard rock music being played by the DJ.

They raised their hands in the air, holding on their plastic red cups. Some of the kids at the party, held glow cups in the air. Making their shadows dance on the walls in the attic.

The party host girl sitting down, suddenly got off her seat. And took a sip of her spicy cold fruit punch. And tossed the empty red plastic cup aside on the ground next to the DJ radio station.

It was like she completely ignored me and my two friends. As she went up to a sexy, hot-looking dude wearing a lion's mask, and held onto a red plastic cup in his hand.

She started jumping up and down and trying to get his attention. But the attractive looking man, turned and looked away from the party host girl.

This outraged the party host girl. As she grabbed hold of the young man. Tore of his animal mask. And planted a big, wet smoochy kiss on his plump lips.

Turning red from embarrassment, the dude pushed the party host girl away from him. She fell to the ground in the middle of the dance floor. As the angry boy, turned and walked out of the attic door.

Then, Yoyo and Greg kindly helped the party host girl to her feet. In the swirl of fog, the girl stood on her feet.

"Are you alright?" I asked the party host girl. The wild kids didn't stop dancing to the loud DJ music. I don't think she heard me. She was grabbing hold of head, and trying to stop from falling back to the ground, again.

My friends and I grabbed hold of the girl by her arms to steady her. "What happened?" She asked, groggily. "Did you hit on me, Hector?" the party host girl, asked, suspiciously.

I shook my head. "I think it's over," I said. Suddenly, the decoration lights hanging from the ceiling started flickering on and off. Lightning flashed outside the attic windows. Making the fog swirl around us.

Long, before everybody who was dancing along with the DJ music, started screaming. And running around the foggy dance floor. Then, a nearby kid snatched hold of the party host girl by her arms. And shoved her into the chair she had been sitting in, earlier.

And started tying and gagging her up. Lightning flashed from the thunderstorm outside the attic windows. While the party animals continued celebrating and seizing the party girl hostage.
