Chapter 17 - Chapter 16 Talisman of Fenris

The charred floorboard's creaking with every step they took.

Paintings on the walls, burnt, the un-burnt parts of it however hinting to the glory and grandeur that these paintings that line the hall once had.

Artifacts—metal armors, animal heads, mounts—lay broken or charred. Their once-bright gold gleamed dimly beneath the soot

The sound of squeaks resounding occasionally through the house as this abandoned manor had become a home to some of the animals here in the forest.

"Alright guys, here is a flashlight" Stiles said as he pulled out three flashlights from his bag, handing each of them to Liam and Scott.

"We should split up, cover more ground" Liam suggested, he wanted to complete the mission and get out of here.

"Yea makes sense" Scott said.

"Alright then" Stiles said.

Liam, Stiles and Scott split up taking each floor per person to explore.

Liam took the bottom floor while, Scott took the second floor, while Stiles picked the third floor.

They made the decision to meet back up in 20 minutes and leave the forest cause it would be dark by then.

And Liam, nor Stiles and Scott want to be sticking around here at those times.

Liam was almost sure that when the sun completely sets, the likelihood of encountering a supernatural being shoots up.

Stiles and Scott carefully walked up the stairs leaving Liam behind.

Liam stepped forward as well.

His steps as felt as heavy as lifting a sack full of bricks.

His heart pounding out of his chest.

He walked from one room to another, looking underneath the burnt carpets for a safe or maybe something hidden within the sofas.

By the time he had explored a few rooms, the fear he was feeling had drastically reduced

"Although I sense a lot more, thanks to my high Spirit, I can also adapt much quicker" Liam said to himself as he began walking around without too much oppression.

He started taking down paintings, hoping to find some type of a secret safe.

But he did not find anything, for the next 15 minutes he explored everywhere but did not find anything.

Finally he had arrived at a home office.

Looking inside, the wealth that belonged to Hale family was even more extravagantly displayed, artifacts that looked extremely expensive and statues lined the office, only a sliver of its former greatness still shining through.

There was no light peeking through the rotting or burnt cracks of the walls, so Liam had to switch on his flashlight.

His flashlight flickered against stone and soot flashing the light around, a crumbled desk sat in the center of the office caught his eyes.

Stepping closer to the desk, Liam got a better view of it.

Its drawers warped by the fire and blackened, but not completely destroyed.

There were a few drawers that looked difficult to open but Liam was not one to give up.

He picked the top drawer and forced it open, it only partially opened and there it was.

A leather-bound book, its top page wide open. It was like half the book was torn off, at a glance I could tell that this belonged to the book Stiles had shown me.

Putting his hand into the drawer, Liam tried to carefully get a complete grasp over the book.

Just then he felt his finger brush past something odd.

It was metallic, yet it was warm.

Wedged behind the book inside the drawer.

Curious He yanked and out came a medallion, obsidian black, etched with runes that seemed to pulse faintly in his palm, it's warmth radiating into his palms... it's shape resembling that of a wolf's head.

His hand trembled.

This... wasn't normal.

He did not remember seeing such an item in Teen wolf.

Ding

Just then a notification from his system sounded.

His eyes moved glancing at his system's notification that appeared.

[Congratulations on the Discovery of the "Talisman of Fenris"]

[Reward SP: 500]

Liam sucked in a ragged breath. His fingers trembled on the medallion's edges.

"Such a generous reward..." Liam thought as he glanced at the exploration mission and at the medallion in his hands

"System, do you have information on what this Talisman of Fenris is?" Liam asked, causing the system to expand into a explanation of the object.
