They walked for a long time. The sun was scorching, and Severin could swear he had used up almost all the water in his body. The reason he was not stopping to drink was because Anansi was there.
He didn't trust the man enough to use his space storage.
Eventually, though, after Severin knew they had walked up to four hours, he stopped. "How do we get to Sector Delta? We do not seem to be making much progress."
Anansi turned to look at him. There was a curious smile on his face, as if he found something amusing. He scratched his head. "We need to use the carriage."
"The carriage," Severin said flatly.
"Yes. The lands outside of Sector Delta remain unstable. You might walk without actually moving. How do I explain it?"
"I understand," Severin said. His voice was cold. They had been walking since, and he just found it fit to tell him that? He knew Anansi was going to trick him, but he never expected it to be from the beginning of their cooperation.
