Nathan's POV
I woke to a scent I hadn't realized I'd missed. For days now, I'd smelled like Kade—his clothes, his soap, his sweat—but this… this was different. Clean sheets. Fresh air. A hint of something warm and familiar. The bed beneath me was soft, and the crisp white sheets wrapped around my body like a quiet lie. Everything felt surreal, like waking up in someone else's life. And then the memories stormed back, dragging reality with them. I sighed, letting the silence settle over me, trying to make sense of the sudden shift in my world.
When I finally turned my head, I froze.
Standing in the middle of the room, arms crossed, scowling like she wanted to tear me apart, was Anita. Her lips were pressed into a tight line, her gaze sharp enough to cut through bone.
And the way she looked at me—it was clear.
She wanted to kill someone.
Me, to be exact.
I blinked. Then blinked again.
