Chapter 57 - You are caught

Chapter 57: You are caught

"I WILL KILL YOU DEXTER" Calhoun yelled as gravity pulled him down.

ROARRRRRRRR....

The fierce roar shook the ground. Thunders struck the sky. The birds flew away and the trees swayed. Dexter widened his eyes as he looked at the falling Calhoun.

Splasshhh..

Calhoun felt the cold water going into his ears and nose. His ears were ringing at the roar. The roar was still reverberating in his chest. He gasped and water started filling his lungs.

The prince struggled for a while before finally emerging out on the surface. Calhoun coughed and shook his head to clear his ears from the water.

He lift his head to see Dexter still on the top and staring at him.

Splasshhh..

Dexter too jumped into the water but his dive was graceful and professional compared to Calhoun's.

"Did you just roar?" Dexter asked immediately as soon as he surfaced out.He effortlessly blocked Calhoun's incoming punch and repeated his question again.

"How dare you throw me down?" Calhoun came at him again and this time Dexter didn't avoid. Since the kid wants to vent, let him. And just like that he took three punches on his handsome face.

The elf prince took a deep breathe to not attack Calhoun. It's fine. These injuries will be gone in a few hours. Calhoun was still panting as he glared at Dexter.

"You do have some good muscle power there. Now.. How about you show me your beast?" Dexter said. His guess was that Calhoun was the legendary Black Dragon.

Calhoun frowned and calmed down. He too remember he roared, but he didn't think he would be able to do it again.

"I don't have a beast"

Dexter clicked his tongue. "Your roar shook the ground and you say you don't have a beast?" Dexter didn't believe it at all.

No matter how powerful a beast is, it can never intimidate the nature. But what Calhoun just did was mind blowing. If just a single roar can do that, then think what might happen if the black dragon soars into the sky.

But for now Calhoun was still very clueless. Though he saw the black tattoo on his back, he had never heard of a black dragon. So he thought it might be the lowest of the lowest gray dragon.

"I really don't know about my beast. My guess is that it might be a lazy gray dragon still sleeping within me"

Dexter chocked on his saliva hearing this. Gray Dragon? This poor prince had his standards in gutters.

"What the hell? A gray dragon?"

Calhoun's face turned cold hearing Dexter. Having a beast was already a blessing for him, and this elf here was mocking him again.

"Why didn't you think of it as a black dragon?" Dexter asked, and Calhoun's face was now really dark. Black dragon? Was it even lower than a gray dragon?

"What black dragon? You seem to have created your own beasts lord Dexter."

Calhoun shook his head and was about to get out of the water when Dexter's words stopped him.

"A black dragon is an immortal beast prince Calhoun. Only one of it's kind."

Calhoun turned around, a little confused. He had no idea what an immortal beast is, but going by the terminology, it seems to be more powerful than a supreme beast.

"Black Dragon?"

Dexter nodded. He felt frustrated at how the beast king didn't even bother to give his eldest son a complete education. He was a prince like Calhoun too, and very well aware of this feeling of being shunned by your own family.

"Didn't you see how all those wild and deadly animals never attacked you." Dexter said as he made his way out of water. The sun was bright so this dive was refreshing.

"They didn't attack me because of my beast?" Calhoun asked doubtfully.

Normal animals attacked beast men all the time. They might get scared and run away when the beast men transform into a relatively more powerful beast, but animals are animals. They still attack.

"What else did you think? That you have a likable personality?" Dexter mocked again as he removed his tunic to hang it on a nearby tree.

Calhoun got out of the water too but didn't remove his black tunic. He didn't want to show him his dragon tattoo.

"Tell me about this black dragon?"

"I don't know much. It is a lost legend. The lord of all beasts. No one knows why or how it perished." Dexter paused for a while as he thought something. "But no one can kill an immortal beast. The black dragon must have voluntarily decided to perish."

Calhoun raised his brows. What a fascinating story. "How do you know all this?"

"Not everyone is so ignorant like you"

Calhoun clicked his tongue to express his irritation. The only thing this Dexter did ever since he came here was mocking him. That elf didn't even know how to cook. He was the one feeding both of them and Dexter still has the audacity to mock him.

"How do you know all this?"

"Though it is mostly unknown, some tribes in the beast clan still have some folk songs about black dragon. Your father might actually know more than me." Dexter said.

Calhoun became silent. Right. His royal father. He wasn't thinking of asking anything to his father. But was worried about what might happen if he know about his beast.

He knew his father well. The beast king will feel threatened.

Dexter could easily read Calhoun. After all, he himself was once in a similar situation. All thanks to his king Lawrence that he is now free.

"You father had captured your little white snake. He also sent out his spies to find out your whereabouts. You are caught." Dexter generously informed.

The beast prince panicked. That little snake was practically still a kid. He didn't want him to get tortured because of him.

"Don't worry. King Lawrence rescued the snake. And the spies will just keep mindlessly wandering around. They will never find anything." Dexter's words brought him a momentary relief.

He remembered the ancestral worship festival in Mythiopia. So his father must have went there. But that would end in a few days. Then what? His father would very first go to his mother.

"Queen Aliza sent an invitation to your mother requesting her to visit the healing community for a while."

Both Aliza and Kristina were from the same healing community in Mythiopia. And knowing his mother, she would never turn down a request from queen Aliza.

Grateful - That was the only feeling in Calhoun's heart right now. "Why did the help me?"

"Don't think too highly of yourself. His majesty doesn't want anyone to find out about snowblood mountains or our crown princess yet." Dexter replied.

Calhoun nodded but was still very grateful to Lawrence. He decided to repay this favor one day. No matter why Lawrence did it, his father will definitely notice Lawrence's hand behind all this. Yet the king and queen still went out of their way and protected his mother.
