Daxter stared at Lucas in silence. The pain in his eyes hadn't faded, but doubt had begun to settle in. Suddenly, hurried footsteps echoed down the hallway. Julia, Lucas's mother, appeared with a face full of worry. She rushed toward her son, breathless.
"How's your wife? What about Alexander and Livio?" Julia asked anxiously, her eyes briefly flicking toward Daxter.
Lucas let out a breath. "They're still being treated. No definite news from the operating room yet," he replied calmly, though the anxiety creeping across his face was undeniable.
Julia's expression hardened. She turned toward Daxter, her gaze sharp, full of restrained fury. But Lucas quickly placed both hands on his mother's shoulders, holding her back. "Mom, let's just wait for them, okay? Come sit down," he said gently but firmly.
Julia wanted to say something else, but when Lucas looked at her with pleading eyes, she finally relented. "He already—"
