"My dad would never cheat on my mom for any reason, even if he was fed a love potion." Annie said strongly.
"Aww, it's so sweet that you think that, hey, I trust uncle as well, but there are some love potions that remove the person's normal way of thinking soo..." Maddie pointed out.
"Hey, I don't think so, my dad really loves my mom and I believe that true love has the ability to break any stupid love potion." Annie replied, Maddie laughed, she could not believe that Annie was so naive.
"My dear Annie, my dear Annie, this isn't a fairytale, it's real life, and in real life, idiots who drink love potions get their head turned upside down, that's just how it works." Maddie laughed.
"I don't like that you're laughing, and no, true love makes everything true." Annie frowned.
"Oh please, I have no doubt in my mind that true love exists and your parents definitely have it, but true love isn't like a counter potion for love spells." Maddie said.
"No, no, I believe it is, I disagree with you Maddie, that's the whole point of true love. When you love someone with all your heart, mind and being, there is nothing that will be able to turn their heart against you. No person, potion or thing will be able to do that." Annie replied.
"Alright, girls, girls, that's enough, I don't want this to go any further." Matt interrupted. it seemed that they were arguing more lately and they just dodged one argument, he did not want another.
"I agree, can we please get back to the story of Trina's mother? I mean what did she do next?" Ollie asked, he seemed fully engrossed in the story.
"Fine, I agree." Annie said, Maddie simply shrugged.
"Anyway, yes, this woman kept on coming over every single day." Annie said.
"And what did your mom think about it?" Ollie asked.
"She didn't think anything about it. My mom is a pretty chill person, she focuses on what is important. I was too young back then to know if Trina's mother's attitude caused a huge problem between them, but I mostly saw them joke about it." Annie replied.
"Let's move on, the story is getting longer than it's supposed to be." Maddie said, she knew mostly all the details, she was just waiting for Annie to get to the juicy part.
"I'm moving on, anyway, she kept on coming and coming and coming until one day she and my dad were alone in the staffroom and she tried to make a move on him." Annie said, Matt's laughing interrupted her.
"Wait, wait, I'm sorry, but wait, it's so funny to hear you say she tried to make a move on him... your dad is the most intimidating person I've ever met, how did he respond?" Matt laughed, he did not know if he could envision John embarrassed or worse, nervous.
"He was nervous that's for sure, he was confused and clueless." Annie said.
"Typical men." Maddie scoffed.
"What do you mean typical men?" Annie turned to Maddie.
"I mean that most men are daft when it comes to women making a move on them. They usually don't know till it's too late and they've been caught in the net. If I was your mother, I would have dealt with that woman from the start." Maddie scoffed.
"Well you're not my mother, and she doesn't deal with things like this in such a manner." Annie replied.
"Anyway, my dad tried his best to let her down softly and not hurt her feelings, but she was relentless, she said she did not care if he was married. Bear in mind that this was what I heard from him, no one else was present, but I believe my dad, he has no reason to lie." Annie said.
"So what happened next?" Ollie asked.
"You two sure do like gossip." Maddie said.
"It's not gossip, it's an event that happened a while ago and we want to know about it." Matt responded.
"Moving on, moving on, my dad tried his best to make sure he escaped out of that situation which angered Trina's mom and the next day she reported him to the school principal for misconduct and trying to abuse her." Annie frowned.
"That's terrible." Ollie said.
"I know right, and as expected no one believed her, but Trina's mother claimed that she had evidence against him and said she was going to sue the school if they did not fire him and conduct a thorough investigation." Annie said as Maddie shook her head.
"They actually did one?" Matt asked.
"Yep, they did, I remember that day, all the teachers were moving around like headless chickens, they knew better than to believe her, but I don't know why they still did that." Maddie scoffed.
"Anyway, as expected, they found nothing against him and they couldn't fire him." Annie said.
"And what about your mom? Wasn't she hurt by the rumours she heard?" Ollie asked.
"My mom never bothered herself with rumours, she asked my dad and she believed him." Annie smiled. "They always believed each other, always." She said.
"Aww, that's really sweet." Maddie said.
"But hey, if they found nothing against your dad, what happened to Trina's mom?" Matt asked.
"She, being an annoying woman, was shamed and we found out she had no evidence, she lied it was evident." Annie said.
"Of course she was shamed, I would have even made sure she never dared show her face in public again. One of the perks and vices of living in a small town is because everyone knows each other." Maddie laughed.
"So, what does this entire story have to do with you and Trina not being friends anymore?" Matt asked.
"Well, when I asked Trina about what her mom did and why she didn't say anything, she blew up and shouted at me." Annie said, Maddie began to laugh, this was the juicy part she was waiting for.
"Why?" Ollie asked confused.
"She told me that she wanted a daddy as well, that if she had her way, she would have preferred that her mother marry my dad so they would be one big happy family. Can you believe she was angry at me for having both my parents? She said she wished they broke up and she said the only reason she was my friend was because she wished to get closer to my dad." Annie said, even she could not believe that was actually something she would hear from someone she called a friend.
"That must be some twisted nonsense right there." Matt said as Maddie laughed.
"That's something very inconsiderate for someone to say." Ollie frowned.
"I tell you, I could not believe what I was hearing. I was so young and I felt so betrayed, she made it feel like I had to choose between our friendship and my parents staying together." Annie scowled.
"That has to be one of the worst things someone has to go through from someone they thought was a friend." Matt said.
"I was so upset, but mostly sad, because it meant she was just my friend all along just to get closer to my dad so she and her mother could steal him for themselves."
"That has to be the most absurd thing I've ever heard." Ollie said, he Matt and Annie turned to Maddie when she refused to stop laughing.
"Why exactly are you laughing?" Matt frowned.
"Oh just because I never liked that annoying, two-faced, lying, irritating girl from the beginning. I always felt that there was something off about her, and I was really happy when she and Annie broke up." Maddie laughed.
"Yeah, you were, you did not even hide how happy you were. You laughed at my sadness, I guess that was one of the reasons why I started to dislike you more." Annie said.
"Well you were mistaken, I was not laughing at you, I was laughing at her for thinking that she would be able to lie, cheat and pretend for long without being caught." Maddie explained.
"You said cheat, why did you say cheat?" Annie asked.
"Because that girl was the master at cheating, she never wrote her tests herself, she always copied from off your paper and you never noticed." Maddie pointed out.
"That's not true, how would I never notice?" Annie frowned.
"Because whenever she was about to cheat, she would point outside at your favourite flowers outside and distract you with how nice you thought she was, then bam, she would copy your answers." Maddie said.
"And you saw all these things happen?" Annie asked and Maddie nodded.
"And you didn't say anything or report her?" Annie asked.
"Why would I? Like I said, you all were blinded by her fake kindness, besides, I was always the bad one, the mean one, no one would listen to Maddie. No one would have believed me if had reported her and she would have just lied herself out of it like usual." Maddie said.
