Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: The Hypnotist

Ryan tossed and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep.

The anticipation of witnessing whether the comatose patient would wake up or not weighed heavily on him, causing Ryan to count the seconds as if each second was a year passing by.The night deepened, and the sky outside his window gradually became hazy with the first light of dawn. The persistent crowing of roosters outside his window rang out continuously, signaling the approach of a new day.

Unable to bear the wait any longer,Ryan suddenly turned over and got out of bed.Judging that it was still too early,he,with little hope, made his way to the entrance of the village gate tower.

There,a figure in Hanfu, pushing a suitcase with one hand, unexpectedly caught his eye.

"Hey!Wait!Please!Just a moment!"

Ryan called out, quickening his pace as he ran towards the figure. His heart pounded like thunder in his chest.

"What's the matter?!"

A cold female voice responded, instantly dousing the curiosity of the curious Ryan with a chill.

"Last night...I saw that you had your soul redeemed. It's so amazing that you actually...woke up!!!"

Ryan exclaimed, momentarily at a loss for words as he was drawn to the beautiful face of the woman in front of him.

"Yes.I'm indeed awake. If you're curious, you should ask the village chief instead of me,"she replied casually, her aloofness creating a barrier that kept others at a distance.

"I...I'm just curious! After all,I also...often have dreams.Ah!I mean I have some really strange and bizarre dreams.I think this soul-redeeming ritual is so special,so..."

Ryan fumbled to express his confusion, not really knowing what he was talking about. Then,a business card was handed to him.

"Hypnotist?!"

He looked at the exquisite business card in his hand with a bewildered expression, like a monk who couldn't make head or tail of something, and was momentarily dumbfounded.

"Your situation doesn't require soul redemption. And,if it's just nightmares, your three souls and seven spirits may not...be lost.Perhaps,I can help you.I'm a hypnotist.Different from the hypnotism in your country or...in your perception.

The hypnotism I'm talking about combines our local culture. It combines Taoism and talismans.Through these means,we can communicate with heaven and earth, reach directly into the depths of your soul,"she explained, making a "gun"gesture with her index finger and thumb, pointing it at Ryan's heart position.

The woman seemed like a different person all of a sudden and became quite talkative.

"Then...how much do you charge?!"

Ryan asked, not wanting to go against her wishes and following her lead.

"Free.Completely free,"she replied, her eyes suddenly becoming extremely bright.

The woman's completely different attitudes before and after gave Ryan an illusion as if he had boarded a pirate ship.

"Then -should I follow you?!"

Ryan questioned, looking at the woman in front of him,who was dressed in a Hanfu and was really pleasing to the eye.Suddenly feeling that he didn't seem to care about anything anymore,Ryan once again muddled along and followed her itinerary and left.

"Where are we going?"

Ryan asked incredulously, looking at the backpack in his hand as he sat side by side with the girl on the bus, still hadn't quite recovered until now.

"To an ancient relic.A really,really old one.It's about 4,500years old or so.How about that?You must be curious,right?!"

She became warm and hospitable all of a sudden. Her rapidly changing attitudes before and after still made Ryan a bit uncomfortable until now.

"Yuji,to be honest,I'm still rather curious about...you..."Ryan began, but was quickly interrupted."

The place we're going to this time is the Sanxingdui Ruins. And then,it's the Liangzhu Ancient City Ruins,"Xiao Yuji stated, her determination to give it a serious try no matter what was evident,as she couldn't wait to fly to those ancient relics.

"What about my hypnosis problem?Do we have to be at that ancient relic to do it?I always feel that...there's no connection between the two at all!"Ryan spread his hands in puzzlement, once again caught in a dilemma, his personality completely different from when he was a trader."

Just follow me closely.By then,I'll definitely give you a huge surprise.Believe me!"She promised earnestly.

After saying this,Xiao Yuji closed her eyes to rest,as she was really tired. After all, when the soul-redeeming ritual was being carried out,she was still somewhat conscious.

Although it was also her own doing that led to the current situation, she always felt that as a Taoist, one should dare to face difficulties and try hard.

She hadn't even thought about...or even reflected on the fact that apart from various current situations, there was a great possibility that her skills were not up to par...
