Chapter 3 - Chapter 1: The Goodbye That Wasn’t Said

It had been thirteen days since she blocked him.

Since she last read his message.Since she last heard his voice in her head instead of real life.

And still…she hadn't deleted the chat.

It just sat there, buried deep in her phone.Muted. Blocked. But there.

Like a scar that didn't know how to fade.

Aditi tried to focus on her board prep, but every page reminded her of him.

The diagram they once laughed over.

The chapter he helped her understand.

The way he always remembered formulas using stupid mnemonics like "King Henry Died Drinking Chocolate Milk."

Now, all of it just hurt.

The worst part?

He hadn't tried again.

No new number. No email. No dramatic arrival at her door like in those movies.

Just silence.

Like she never existed.

And maybe she didn't.Not really. Not the version of her that mattered to him.

Everyone around her moved on. Reet was planning summer college forms.Boys flirted again in canteen corners.Even Nisha had changed her profile bio to:

"Sometimes, people just vibe."

No names.No tags.No "Abhimanyu."

Which made it worse.

Because it meant… it really was over.

That night, Aditi opened her diary again.

But the ink didn't come easily this time.

What do you write when the heartbreak isn't fresh anymore — just… dull and constant?

Still, she tried.

"I didn't want him to fight for me.I just wanted to know I was worth fighting for."

And then, something happened.

Reet sent a single-line message that made her heart skip.

"You're not gonna like this, but… he's coming back to tuition tomorrow."

Back?

To the same place where everything started?Where their story first bloomed… then broke?

Aditi froze.

Because she wasn't ready.

Not to see him.Not to ignore him.Not to feel everything all over again just by being near him.

But tomorrow was coming. And with it, the boy she still dreamed about — even when she didn't want to.

Not all goodbyes are loud. Some are slow…and keep returning in the shape of someone you still love.
