Chapter 9 - Preparation Before the Storm

Qin Ye had three days until the opening of the Tyrant Dragon Secret Realm.

He didn't waste a single moment.

"If i want to fight the son of destiny...I have to be prepared."

In his secluded courtyard, Qin Ye spread dozens of jade slips across the stone table. Formulas, diagrams, inscriptions—all refined from the techniques and manuals he'd stolen, earned, bought or copied over the years

Qin ye has been collecting raw materials for all kinds of things ever since he recovered his memories. His pathetic death in his previous life gave him an obsession for hardwork and results. He would never stop midway in this life , so he had prepared for every possible scenario. Poison, soul strikes, illusions, betrayal—even things others would laugh at, he took seriously. His preparations were so thorough, so detailed, that to an outsider he might seem paranoid.

He started with talismans.

Attack. Defense. Escape. Tracking. Disruption. Soul-based.

Each one etched with absolute precision. Most of them were 2nd level Top grade or 3rd level low grade.

Some burst with flames that burned qi and formed dragons. Others formed barriers strong enough to withstand a Golden Core cultivator's casual strike. Some that let him escape into the ground. Some even froze everything in the vicinity. But most importantly—he created soul-breaking talismans designed to bypass physical defenses. They couldn't kill Nascent Souls, but they could easily shatter the spiritual sea of a peak foundation builder. Or a very weak remnant soul of a strong man.

They were meant for one person.

He didn't underestimate Qin Feng. Not for a second.

Next, he brought out spirit ore and refining sand and activated his formation plate.

Puppets took shape. Small, bird-like scouts carved from star copper. Insect-sized ones meant to burrow and track. He imbued them with basic illusion and sensing formations. Their eyes could detect spiritual fluctuations and transmit the scenes. Their wings could disrupted qi waves and block communication.

They weren't meant to fight.

They were meant to spy, trap, scout, distract… delay.

Next was formation work. He carved dozens of illusionary glyphs into blank array boards—small enough to be thrown, yet powerful enough to mislead someone for ten breaths. He created trap arrays, explosion arrays, qi reversal seals, illusion arrays, defense arrays and so on.

In the right hands, they were dangerous.

In Qin Ye's hands, they were lethal.

When he was done, he went to see the one person he never bothered unless it was serious.

Grandpa Qin Mu.

Qin Mu was sitting in his courtyard drinking tea. His cultivation was hidden, always appearing like an early Nascent soul cultivator.

Qin Ye didn't waste time.

"I need a soul defense weapon. A strong one."

Qin Mu looked up, surprised. His cup paused mid-air.

"…Why?"

"I want to make sure I don't get possessed. Or soul-attacked by something unexpected."

Qin Mu stared at him for a long moment. Then slowly reached into his robes and handed over a palm-sized jade ring with a faint purple glow.

"This was mine in my early years. It can block one soul attack of a God transformation expert. It's no joke. Use it only if your life is on the line."

Qin Ye bowed low. "Thank you, Grandfather."

As he turned to leave, Qin Mu's gaze lingered.

"This child… is preparing like he's facing a calamity, not a test."

Back in his room, Qin Ye brought out his pill furnace. This was a strange cauldron used for both pill refining and weapon refining—it had no name, no inscription, but had once been rated Earth-Grade when tested by a merchant. But Qin ye secretly found out that its grade should be far greater.

He crushed dozens of ingredients.

He created healing pills with fast-acting body regeneration. Energy pills that will fill up the qi sea of even a foundation expert. Cleansing pills to remove toxins and disrupt curses. Poison pills with delayed activation, aura concealment, and memory-altering effects.

Even if someone ate it unknowingly, they wouldn't feel a thing… until it was too late.

By the second day, his parents visited.

His mother Shen Yue handed him a bright red jade talisman. "This has my strongest fire seal."

His father, Qin Zhenhai, gave him a sword-shaped paper seal. "If you're ever cornered… burn it."

Even Grandpa Qin Mu appeared again and handed him a black, thumb-sized token. "Throw this at your enemy. Don't ask questions. Just throw it."

Each item was powerful enough to turn the tide in a fight—especially for a Qi Refiner.

Qin Ye accepted them all.

The third day was spent on forging.

He had saved up many ores and rare minerals over the years—titanium sand, blacksteel essence, demon beast bone, and lunar silver, all kinds of 2nd and 3rd grade materials.

He used them all to create: Silent Edge – a sword that erased sound when swung, extremely sharp and attacks the soul as well, Void-breaking Spear – forged with a hollow tip that pierced through qi walls, formations and shields, Moon Shield – reflects illusions and automatically blocks attacks, Dark Pulse Bow – with arrows that curved mid-air and targeted multiple enemies, it can also track the soul.

These were top grade 2nd level to 3rd level weapons—far beyond what Qi Refiners could wield. But since he forged them himself, he could manipulate their resonance.

Each had a hidden function.

Finally, he brought out one last item.

A white mask. Carved from the skull of a Quasi-Nascent soul level demonic beast. He had bought it at a sky high rate at an auction years ago, at great risk.

He embedded it with anti-detection glyphs, qi concealment formations, and mental resistance and transformation seals.

When worn, not even a Peak Nascent soul elder could sense his identity if he didn't show it.

It wasn't pretty-Shaped like a fox and wolf with fangs and scars. It made him look like a vicious villain. But that was only when it was not activated. When used, he can change his face into anyone he's met before.

He stared at the mask for a long time.

He knew that confronting the so-called Son of Destiny was dangerous. But Qin Ye knew he had no choice. If he didn't test Qin Feng now, he might never get another chance. He wasn't arrogant enough to believe it would be easy. If the remnant soul hidden in his body goes crazy and takes action, he will die without a burial place.

"I won't be reckless. I won't be overconfident. If I lose to the Son of Destiny, I'll lose because I was weak. Not because I was unprepared. Not because i didn't put in any effort"

After completing all the preparations, he placed them in his storage bag and waited for the next day.

The clock was ticking.

And Qin Ye… was ready.
