Ren clears his throat first, then begins to speak.
"Everyone, get ready. This will be a tough battle. Kaori will launch the first attack, and I'll follow right after. Souta and Sakura will support us from the back with magic. While they're casting spells, Itachi and Kurumi, you attack."
Everyone responds in unison.
"Got it!"
Ren reaches his hand toward the door. He waits for a moment, taking deep breaths.
"Open."
The door opens. Ren steps back slightly. The door opens fully. We step inside and move forward. It's quite a large place. The dungeon boss appears. It's a God Skeleton (a type often seen in B-rank dungeons).
"God Skeleton, huh? I was expecting something else," says Sakura.
"Most likely a God Skeleton who ruled for a long time," replies Kaori. She immediately follows the plan and lunges at the skeleton. The skeleton fires a beam from its finger toward Kaori. Kaori blocks and redirects the beam with her sword. Taking advantage of this opening, Ren starts running and leaps toward the God Skeleton.
The God Skeleton summons several skeletons. They block Ren's attack. The God Skeleton jumps back. Sakura and Souta simultaneously cast a fire spell.
"Fire Bullet!" they say in unison. A long fire bullet rushes toward the God Skeleton. More skeletons appear and push the boss out of the way. At that moment, Itachi and I coordinate and launch our attack. Itachi rushes forward and punches the boss. I attack with a sword from behind. The God Skeleton touches a wall, and a barrier appears in front of me. My sword flies off in another direction. Then, Itachi creates a black orb-like object in his hand and smashes it into the God Skeleton's head. The God Skeleton's body shatters.
I drop to the ground and take deep breaths. Now that the dungeon boss is dead, we should be able to exit. My mission has failed. Everyone waits, expecting to be teleported out. A few seconds pass, but we're still inside the dungeon.
"Why aren't we getting out?" I ask.
"Most likely, there's another dungeon," Itachi answers.
"What do you mean, another dungeon?"
"Exactly that, Kurumi. We've probably entered a double-layer dungeon."
"What does that mean?"
"If you can't exit after defeating a dungeon boss, it means there's another dungeon within the dungeon. It's rare, but not unheard of. We need to move forward. There'll be only one more boss, but it'll be at least five times stronger than the previous one. If you want, we can go back and report instead. But I vote to move forward."
"I'm with you," I reply.
"Me too," says Sakura. Everyone except Ren and Kaori agrees.
"Then we're moving forward, right?" says Ren.
We keep walking. About five minutes later, we find the door. As soon as Itachi sees the door, he freezes. His face is completely still, only his eyes show fear. The others are also looking at the door, but without fear in their eyes. Why is Itachi this scared? Pure luck.
I swiftly slice off Itachi's head. It falls to the ground, blood splattering. His body collapses.
"This is the first."
