Nicole finally reached the office,
but the banana peel was still sitting proudly on his shoulder.
He slumped into his chair,
opened his computer screen,
and saw it there...clear as day.
He sighed and muttered to himself:
"Of course.
This was the only thing missing today."

That night, as he walked back home,
a dog started chasing him.
Out of nowhere.
And not just chasing
this dog had a mission.
It chased him through alleyways, streets, empty roads like a wild beast.
Nicole was running for his life,
panting, exhausted, lost in a maze of dimly lit corners.
He finally paused near a closed-down shop,
leaning against the shutter, catching his breath.
But not before picking another fight with the almighty:
"When will you stop chasing me?
What have I ever done to you?"
"First I walk around all day with a banana peel on my shoulder because of you,
and now I can't even get home without some wild dog treating me like dinner!"

He didn't notice it at first,
but right near his feet,
a white feather lay gently on the ground.
As a breeze passed,
the feather floated upward
and softly clung to his pant leg,
as if… it had chosen him.
And there he was
Nicole, still arguing with God
like the universe was just his annoying cousin.
Like God owed him answers for being a walking disaster magnet.
But somewhere, unseen to him,
that feather meant something.
Something that was coming…
