"huff…huff…huff…huff" from the first person view of a young man, who breathes heavily as everything he sees seem blurred and as he and a group of humans fight against some entities with terrifying auras, looking at the weapon he held in his hand as his breaths were ragged and the feeling of exhaustion creeping all over him and his hands and arms were covered in bruises and cuts. Looking towards the others battling against these creatures as they gave it their all but for them it felt like a losing battle, the scent of death permeated the air as the ground was soaked with blood and bodies littered the ground, these entities with terrifying auras were cutting and tearing down the humans like they nothing more than paper as they were stronger than anything, this young man could do nothing but watch the slaughter as exhaustion, weakness and his injury weaned him down as his weapon was his only support to stand.
"Hey Zane"
A man calls out to the young man, this catching the attention of the young man who looked towards the man whose face who could not discerned because of the haziness in the young man's eyes, the man seemed to be bleeding profusely as he had suffered devastating blow from one of the entities, and another of the entities getting ready to strike him down with a large axe brimming with corrupted energy.
"Zane it was the greatest thing ever to become friends with you and also to be your comrade in battle, l just hope that all our sacrifices will be worth it"
The man said with a bright smile as even in the face of death he still smiled as death crept upon him as the entity swung its axe down towards him and this made the young man feel alarmed, he tried to move his legs but they refused to move and emotions welling up in his eyes as he watched his comrade die before him and with a devastating slash the man is cut in two as blood spills everywhere, the heart of this young man was broken as he watched a friend die before him.
"Zane it has been the greatest thing in my life to fight with you through fire and stone and also the nice adventures we had together, so goodbye"
"bro it has been the best thing ever to be friends with and all the rough and tough times we pulled through together, well l guess this is it"
"oi Zane thanks for everything you have done for me as a friend so far and for been a great team leader, so l will say it's all up to you now I guess"
"well Zane I think this where it ends for me and it's been an honor fighting alongside you, so be it"
"you know Zack, I always wanted to visit the glittering sandy beach with you but l guess that's not possible today"
The young Man watched with tears in his eyes as his friends and comrades he had known and made over the years died before him as they all had smiles on their faces even when they knew they were going to die and his heart began seething with rage and regret as he could not save them, raising his face forward he could see a young woman bleeding profusely from her abdomen as she lay against a broken wall as her breaths were heavy, using the last of his strength, he pushed himself forward with the aid of his weapon towards the dying woman, getting close to her, he let go of his weapon as it fell to the hard ground and giving off a metallic click. Kneeling beside the woman he held her in his arms as tears flowed endlessly down his cheeks.
"oh, Zane why do cry? Cry no more for we knew this fight was going to be our last if we are to give a chance to those kids and people who took them to the last sanctuary in the south, if we must protect them then well I guess this is the price we have to pay, Zane thank you for all the happiest moments and good memories you gave to me and thank you for your love which was unending even to this very last moment"
A smile bloomed on the woman's face as her black jet hair fluttered in the wind and her bright blue eyes seeming to lose their luster little by little and the entities closing in on them both.
"Zane, if there is a next life, I would still love to be your woman again and get married to you and even have your kids but I guess that's not possible, my love, thank you for everything. If there is really a next life l will love to be with you again, well I guess this is my final goodbye to you because I feel so sleepy"
And with that been said she breathed her last and her eyes became devoid of life as they closed and the young man was broken to the core as his heart shattered into pieces as the woman died in his arms and he bursting into tears.
Surrounding him were the terrifying entities as each entity raised their gigantic weapons into the air as the weapons began to radiate with a demonic aura and power as they brought their weapons at the same time upon him.
"I guess this were it all ends"
And he closed his eyes as he awaited his end
"SLASH"
The closed eye lids of a teenage boy twitches as he seemed to struggle with something in his sleep and beads of sweat visible on his fore head as he continued the struggle in his sleep and then his eyes opens fiercely as he jolts from bed and released ragged breaths as if he was out of breath.
"huff…. huff…. huff" he breathed out as his breath was heavy and the look on his face was twisted with fear and confusion.
"not this dream again, what is the meaning of this and this dream that never stops"
he said to himself as his face held questions that needed to be answered and the fear that lingered on his face due to the dream.
"the same bloodied scene, those entities, that woman dying in my arms and that last scene of death, what the hell is this dream that never stops"
the boy could only ask himself as no one was around him to give him an answer, taking a deep breath and calming himself he turned to look at a digital clock on his desk by the side of his bed as the clock read "6:40am, June 5th, 2564" and then turned to his left side to look through the window of his room as the golden rays of the rising sun gently passing through the window's blinds and illuminating the room.
Taking a better look at the teenager's room which had a futuristic design with every single gadget in the room looking sleek and futuristic, from the laptop on his study desk to the digital clock on his desk beside his bed and even the furniture's in the room had a sleek and yet simple design not too extravagant and on the wall were wallpapers and posters of different kinds from space exploration to games, people with super abilities and anime and a bookshelf situated by the corner of the room with numerous books on the bookshelf and a wardrobe by the far end of the room.
"ah, I seem to be forgetting something today" the boy said with little confusion as he tried to remember something as his face held a big question mark, taking a look again at the digital clock and trying his best to remember that's then it suddenly hit him.
"ah, damn I almost forgot today is the awakening day!!" with that been said he immediately jumped out of bed.
"man am going to be late for this, I have to hurry" he said hastily as he hurriedly changed his clothes and got into a tower asap and the door of his room suddenly opens as a girl about the age of fifteen walks in.
"Good morning big brother" the girl said with a big smile on a her face as she came in, her black long hair swayed behind her as she walked in and her bright blue eyes dazzling like a gem of untamed beauty and having a round face which made her look cute and beautiful at the same time and she still wearing her pajamas as she strode in.
"Sora no time to answer that greeting of yours now, because I have to hurry and get ready for the awakening day" he said as he entered the bathroom with taking a glance at the girl and she felt at loss at his sudden hastiness.
"ah, this nut headed brother of mine" she pouted as she said and just turned around and slamming the door behind her as she exited the room.
"Oi Sora don't slam my door like that" he shouted from the bathroom
"Hm, who cares about a damn door" she said with an expression of annoyance written on her face.
After a few minutes in the bathroom the boy steps out as water drips to the floor from his wet body then he begins to clean up and then changes into some nice clothes from his wardrobe as the wardrobe automatically closes by its self.
Standing in front a mirror was the teenager as we get to see his appearance in full detail. Standing in front of the mirror was the teenager whose blue eyes were exactly the same with Sora and his Hair the same Jet black hair just like hers but he had a more masculine appearance as his face seemed a bit oval in shape with a perfectly chiseled jaw line, with all this complementing his handsomeness and a perfect pointed nose with the right size and his hair neatly combed. Also wearing a T-shirt and a punk kind of jacket on and a well fitted jogger which fitted him perfectly which gave him a trans versing look.
"Well this is what l call perfection" the boy said to himself as he looked at himself in the mirror then he sat down as he slid his feet into a pair of sneakers which automatically laced themselves.
"I guess that's all for it, but l feel like am still forgetting something" he tried to remember then he remembered.
"Ah, l forget I haven't prayed yet" he said as he sighed then he got on his knees and started praying. After he prayed for a few minutes he got up then glanced at the time on the digital clock and the time saying "7:35am".
"alright I still got time to spare, time to go grab breakfast" he said, as he wore a star shaped crystal with four points around his neck and grabbed his smartphone and smart watch before closing his room door and then bolting downstairs.
Arriving at the dining table and seeing Sora his sister already sited at the dinning as she sipped a cup of tea which she held with both hands and a woman with her back turned in the kitchen as she seemed to be preparing something. Taking a seat at the dining table as he down sat opposite his sister.
"Oh, Sora you've made a cup tea for yourself, so I was kind of wondering where's mine?" he said with a light smile on his face.
"Hm, go make yours, yourself" she said as she turned her face away from him as she feigned anger.
"—"
There was a second of silence between the siblings.
"Oh, now l get it was it about what happened earlier about me not answering your greeting, if that's it then l will apologize for that" he spoke sincerely but Sora pretend not to hear and just looking at him with a side eye.
"Well you can pretend all you want but you do look cute when you are angry though" he said seeing through her and this made her flustered.
"Mom, Zack's bullying me again" she spoke loudly
"Ha-ha, I knew it, you were pretending" he said with a wide smile like victor and here we get to know his name.
Meanwhile Sora could only Pout as Zack has seen through her pretense, coming out of the kitchen was the woman as she held two plates of fried bacon and egg.
"You two are at it again aren't you" the woman said with a smile as she served breakfast. The woman had a long hair which fell all the way to her waist as her hair was as black as night and the having the same blue eyes but much brighter a glittering star and having plump red lips which made look beautiful and face taking that of real feminine appearance and a small nose complementing her face this giving her the beauty of a goddess from above as beauty was like nothing else and out of this world. Her body was size was average and not plumped and with an ample chest and curves. She wore a nurse outfit as she also wore an apron on.
"Good morning Mom" Zack greeted.
"Morning dear, I hope you slept well dear?" she asked
"Yeah of course of mom" he replied with a smile hiding the fact that he had a disturbing dream
"But Mom he started it" Sora pointing a finger at Zack as she said.
"Sora no pointing Fingers, I already know what you are capable so l know you actually wanted to see him beg you right?" their mum said and Sora brought down her head in utter defeat.
"alright you guys eat up because you both have a big day ahead of you especially you Zack" she said with a smile.
"Yeah I know right" Zack replied as he sipped his tea.
Then their mum turns to leave as she walks toward another room.
"So, what ability do you think you might awaken?" Sora suddenly asked as her eyes seem to beam with excitement
"Well I don't really know, well since mum's ability is ice manipulation, I might awaken an element type ability similar to hers" he said as he thought about the possibility.
"Seems possible but what about the rank?" Sora questioned as she stuffed a bacon into her mouth. Zack seem to think about it for a while before answering.
"okay let's take it like this, Mum's ice manipulation ability is ranked at SS rank so I might awaken an ability of a higher rank, talk more of Dad's ability and its rank" Zack said but the mention of dad by him made the surrounding between the siblings drop to silence and their faces having sober expressions for some minutes.
"Well never the less am excited to know what ability my big brother is going to awaken" Sora immediately spoke up breaking the somber mood and this jolting Zack.
"Alright no more talking, lets hurry and eat up because you know you are going to school, right?" Zack said.
"Whatever you say" Sora rolled her eyes as she said.
Getting up from their chairs as they were done eating and Sora was on her school uniform and even in them one could see her developing body maturing taking everything about her Mother both in appearance and body.
"Man, I wonder what's the time now" Zack said as he checked his phone for the time and the time said "7:50am".
"Damn it's 7:50am already, man I got to hurry or am going to be late for the awakening ceremony" he said franticly and bolted towards the door that lead out of the house as he slid his phone into his pocket quickly.
"Zack don't forget to take a hover taxi instead of a road taxi if you know you want to get there on time" his mom said loudly as she just walked out.
"Yeah mom I will" Zack replied as he opened the door to exit the house.
"Big brother please, wait!!" Sora suddenly yelled, this prompting Zack to stop in his tracks then she ran towards him and throws herself in his arms this took Zack by surprise
"Zack, I believe in you, I wish you success in your awakening" she said with a big smile as she looked at Zack and he moved his hand, placed his hand on her head and patted her on the head as he looked at her with brotherly love.
"of course, I won't disappoint you and mum" Zack said with a smile as he looked at his mom who leaned against the Kitchen door as she had a loving smile on her face. Then Sora lets go of her grip on Zack.
"little sis I promise to get you the new blueberry chocolate candy once am done with my awakening" Zack promised and Sora hearing this got extremely excited and hugged him once again.
"Thank so much brother Zack" Sora said with happiness.
"alright Sora I think it's high time you let him go, I guess" their mom said and Sora immediately let's go of Zack.
"alright see you guys later" with that said Zack leaves as he closes the door behind him as he exits the house.
Zacks Mom watches His leaving Silhouette as a tinge of sadness could be seen on her face as he leaves.
"Oh, Grey where are you, how I wish you were to see how much our son has grown" she said to herself and looking out the window as a smile blooms on her face.
Standing outside the door was Zack as he took in the early morning air and his hair ruffling in the morning breeze as the early morning sun was already out on the horizon as the blue sky was painted with white clouds of different shapes and sizes and the birds soaring across the skies freely and this forming a majestic artistic work.
From a look one could see they lived-in one-story apartment connected in the same line with other apartments of the same kind and other neighbors already heading out as everyone wanted to hit the road on time and avoid been stuck in traffic.
The road in the front of the apartment was already busy with cars of all kinds moving to their choice of their destination and the sidewalks already teeming with people moving as everyone had a place to head to.
"well I guess today is really going to be a great day I think" Zack said with an optimistic look on his face and then moving on to hail down a hover taxi and gets in.
Taking in an aerial view of the once slumbering city now fully awakened as the city was already bustling with activities as the streets were flowing with vehicles both hover cars and cars that ran on wheels and a huge array of people heading towards their choice of destination as everyone was on the move.
High speed passenger trains were moving on the tracks at high speed and hyperloops speeding through glass tubes, airbuses and aircrafts of all kinds zoomed across the city skyline as magnificent and epic skyscrapers and buildings towered to the skies like pillars forming a majestic city skyline than any other.
