Chapter 2 - A Second Chance

Suddenly, Fad Xu found himself standing in the middle of the dirt road leading to the Xu sect.

He was alive, breathing perfectly, and surprisingly, he didn't feel as fragile as he had always been.

He felt, changed, strong, with some new vibrant energy circulating his body, making him feel like he could punch a hole through a wall.

"What re... Thi... Me ... Reincarnated?" Fad Xu muttered while looking at his nimble hands.

This just didn't make any sense to him. He was a mortal, reincarnation to him was ultimately impossible, even to the immortals as only gods can reincarnate.

But that to be said, Fad Xu felt his entire body feeling extremely sore with his head feeling extra heavy, full of exhaustion and fatigue.

Lost, he somehow hoped the dark black background computerized screen with crimson writings dangling in front of his blue eyes could provide him with answers.

[Rebirth successfully triggered]

"Rebirth?!" His lips parted after reading the first line of the text displaying. "But... When?" He thought while looking around.

That's when it struck him that he was perfectly familiar with his surroundings. In fact, he had relived this day, the day that he had finally come out of the prison.

"If it wasn't for Mr. Ma's protection, I could have died in there." Fad muttered with his hands tightly clenched as he remembered the suffering he had to endure back there for the crimes he didn't even commit. This forced a single drop of tears to roll down his cheeks as, even after coming out of the prison, he didn't find a chance, or a way of thanking Mr. Ma as his mind was fully focused on winning back the love of his family, the family that watched him die.

"I don't even know how to thank you." He spoke. "But give me a little more time, I'll come looking for you. But as for now, I have some unsettled debts to collect." He muttered while looking at the entrance leading to the Xu Sect.

He could remember this day perfectly, a day that he had come out of the prison, heading home to find hell welcoming him back.

"Huh!" He chuckled. "I'm never wasting this second chance on you again." He muttered with bitterness taking root deep in his chest. " Yeng Xu..., Lin Xu..., Feng Xu..., Meng Lee." Fad called out, "you just wait for me, I'm coming to make your lives miserable." He muttered while clenching his fist tightly.

But that was the problem, Fad Xu was weak, with a broken dantain, unable to cultivate and always at the mercies of his family. So how could he possibly make a titan like Yeng Xu to suffer?

This thought somehow demoralized his spirit as he turned to the system hoping it could grant him something useful.

[Evolution path granted]

[Dantain fully healed]

"What!!!?" He screamed.

It made him feel like he was praying to a god who was answering his prayers instantly, but the text displaying was kind of too good to be the truth. Thus he quickly closed his eyes while taking in a deep breath, trying to connect with the Qi in the air, and to his surprise, a Qi sensation came washing over his demeanor.

His body was ready to absorb and store Qi, unlike before when he couldn't connect with Qi because of his broken dantain.

"Now..." He smirked. "...this is more interesting." He muttered while getting off the road, sat down as he planned to give the system full attention.

[Name: Fad Xu]

[Race: Human]

[State: Eggling]

[Martial Rank: Unranked]

[Health: 100]

[Qi points: 0]

[Level: 0]

[Exp: 0/50]

[Strength:10]

[Dexterity:10]

[Endurance:10]

Fad Xu read the text displaying keenly, not skipping even a single character. He needed to understand this system perfectly as it felt like the gods were finally answering his prayers. So how could he possibly take this lightly?

But then, he found some texts confusing, as he couldn't piece them out.

"State, Eggling." He muttered to himself, confused.

He just couldn't make sense of what this meant, but if he could take a quick guess, this might have meant the weakest class of his evolutional path. This came to conclusions after knowing that he isn't even martial rank.

Generally, there are fourteen different martial ranks based on the amount of Qi in one's body, and their physical probabilities.

These ranks are as follows.

[Rank 1. Novice]

[Rank 2. Intermediate]

[Rank 3. Adept]

[Rank 4. Advance]

[Rank 5. Warrior]

[Rank 6. Elite]

[Rank 7. Gladiator]

[Rank 8. Champion]

[Rank 9. Warlord]

[Rank 10. Titan]

[Rank 11. Archon]

[Rank 12. Sovereign]

[Rank 13. Vanguard]

[Rank 14. Divinity]

The weakest rank among all is the novice rank while the strongest being the divinity rank.

Breaking through a divinity rank leads to immortality, but of course there are some factors that determine how fast one can get stronger.

The main factors are cultivation root rank, and the spirit weapon contracted.

A cultivation root rank is the awakened dantain, an evolved one, through a ceremonial ritual performed once after every three years.

The ceremony still needs qi, that's why young ones would still continue cultivating, absorbing Qi and storing it in their body, and waiting for the day of the ceremony.

Yes, they do cultivate, but they can't perform element or aura tricks without a cultivation root. They could only use the Qi in them to power their body and advance their physical attributes during a fight.

There are six known cultivation root ranks, and each rank has its own benefits.

These ranks are as follows.

[Rank 1. Kindled]

[Rank 2. Hollowed]

[Rank 4. Wyrmshard]

[Rank 5. Nullborn]

[Rank 6. Omenking]

Of course the Kindled is the weakest rank while Nullborn being the strongest. Omenking isn't for mortals, only immortals can awaken this root rank, but the rumours have always existed of another rank, a rank above all that even immortals would kill to possess.

But since Fad already knew about this, he brushed the words aside as there were some more texts displaying before.

[Shop]

[Terror points:0}

{Note: Terror point is the only trading currency in the shop}

[Shop Locked. Unlock at level 10]

Fad paused for a moment after reading this part. If the system was right, then it would mean that Fad had to scare people for him to receive terror points for trading.

This kind of made him wonder what could the shop really offer, and somehow motivated him as he couldn't wait to unlock it. Thus, he proceeded learning more about the system.

[Technique locked]

{The user can't cultivate this technique while at an Eggling state.}

{Evolve to Infernal Sentinel to unlock this technique}

"Infernal Sentinel?" Fad Xu muttered.

To some extent, the system was a bit irritating as it kind of assumed Fad Xu knew everything existing in this world.

That was the second phrase he has come across that he didn't understand, and without even explaining, the system has left him hanging dry.

But either way, he proceeded to the last piece of displaying text.

[Main Quest: Evolve to Infernal Sentinel]

[Sub Quest: Get to level 10]

[Daily quest: Absorb sunlight for three hours a day]

{Quest reward: 5 exp}

[A path to strength quest (daily)]

{1. Push-ups: 0/100}

{2. Squats: 0/100}

{3. Curl-ups: 0/100}

{4. Run: 0/10KM}

{Quest reward: Work Outs Benefits}

After going through the system and learning everything the system could possibly offer, Fad just had to think about closing the system and it disappeared from his sight, and when he thought of opening the system again, the screen would immediately come displaying in front of his blue eyes.

Right there and then, Fad sat upright with his legs crossed as he steadied his breathing. He had been given a second chance and he would dare to waste it, and right now, all he needed was to get stronger.

His body quickly connected with the Qi in the air.

It wasn't just cultivating, it was absorbing and storing as several notifications came displaying in his mind.
