Chapter 8 - The Reveal?

Returning from the Pack meeting, Lyla immediately called the family Doctor. She had a quick pregnancy test run on her and the result was what she didn't welcome.

She was indeed two weeks pregnant. She couldn't believe she was. Especially at the time she was. Barely 21, full fledged orphan, no immediate family too. Worse, she was going to bear a child for the coward who was there when her brother died.

Angrily, she went to sleep that night.

The next day, she got up, washed and joined Miriam at the dining table. She picked at her meal, evoking the older woman's concern.

"Are you alright, Madamoiselle?" She questioned, concerned.

"Yeah." Lyla replied blindly.

"You don't seem okay. Something ruined your mood last night. Was it those who think you're not worth the title."

"It's not that." Lyla protested.

"It's. It's me, I'm pregnant."

"Oh, so you've found out."

"The fuck? Everyone knew except me." Lyla cursed.

"I don't know about others, but Madamoiselle, I have witnessed countless pregnancies and child birth. I was there when your mother birthed you, I carried and fed you. So, I know these things." Miriam explained.

"It's fine. It's all weird. Kyle's death, then this. Worse, I think I know who the father is and this is absolutely absurd." She said.

Miriam got up, beginning to clear the dining table.

"Who do you think he is, madamoiselle?" She asked.

"Oh, him? I guess we'll have to find out." Lyla said, getting up to leave.

"You're going to be a father." Lyla said again to a puzzled Ben. Ben, stupefied, walked closer to her.

"You're pregnant, how?" He asked.

"We did do the thing." She responded. He groaned, a show of frustration.

"So… you're pregnant." He said, almost laughing.

"Is something funny?" She wondered.

"No, no. It's just surprising. One minute, you're all Dominant on me, the next, we're bonded by a child." He replied. She sneered.

Indeed he was her mate, something she knew and was sure he didn't, but the idea of both of them being tied together by a child was sudden.

She wondered if this was their fate, fate's way of making her happy after facing tragedy.

"I just wanted to let you know." She said, turning around.

"Feel free to come visit your child." She added, making to leave. He dashed, stopping in front of her.

"Hold on, don't tell me you're rasing it without me." He spoke. She shook her head, a frustrating look on her face.

"See. Ben, right?"

Ben nodded.

"Ben, we don't know each other. What happened was random, we got controlled by lust, and we're not of the same class. I'm a Luna, an Alpha. You're an omega, regardless of your sudden makeover. You don't even belong to a Wolf Pack, and God knows who sired you."

She ranted.

Ben frowned, she was being a snob. Something he didn't expect.

"I agree with you. I seriously do, but I want to raise my child." He responded.

She gazed at him, taken aback by his personality. Weeks ago when she had him under her captivity, he was an unstable flux of habits. Now, he had become a good, caring and confident man.

"Okay." She said. He smiled.

"Okay. So…how about I make you breakfast?" He asked, rubbing his Palms against each other.

"I already did, but fuck I'm hungry." She replied.

Tierney woke up in his bed. Beside him was his girlfriend, Ariana and she was sound asleep. He planted a loving kiss on her forehead and made for his closet, putting on a fresh Tee and Jeans.

He bolted out of the house to the New Orleans Police Department and settled right before the Commissioner's office.

"Come on in, you're always welcome." Nolan spoke from inside. Tierney opened the door, walking inside the office.

"Nolan." He spoke, settling on the chair opposite the Commissioner's desk.

"Tierney." The older man replied, dropping his Cigar on the desk.

"What's the latest report?" He asked.

"On the plutonium?" We can't trace the seller, its entire market is the black market and transactions to traders are digital." He replied.

"That's bad." Tierney said.

"Any leads on the Vampires responsible for Kyle's death?" He asked, suddenly surprising Nolan who thought he didn't know his friend's killers were Vampires.

"How did you?"

"Relax, Nolan. Lyla told you about the witness's statement. I heard too."

"I swear to God, I only didn't tell you because of how controversial it would sound."

"It's alright. You think my guys did this?" Tierney asked calmly.

"No, I don't. Although we can't rule out the possibilities." Nolan responded.

"Any theories?"

"Well, outsiders. The City is large. I'd say tourists, but most supernatural tourists are recorded here. They're definitely henchmen, and if the prophecy we've been told is true, whoever that danger is is behind this." Nolan responded.

Tierney nodded in affirmation. The commissioner was holding something back and he knew it.

"Got anything extra to say?" He asked.

Nolan sat straight.

"It's about the witness— Ben." He said.

"What's up with him?"

"I just went through his files. He was a case I covered for Kyle eight years ago. Now, Kyle dies in his arms. I'm not too versed in Supernatural stuff, but what if this is some crazy revenge?"

He theorized.

"He's an Omega, a weakling." Tierney chuckled.

"His life has a surprising turn around." Nolan responded, slipping a file forward.

Tierney, puzzled, got up after reading the file, one that contained Ben's details and the liquidation of his family's house.

"I don't care if he's innocent or not." He said, opening the door.

"But when I get him, he's got a lot of answering to do." He added, slamming the door behind him as he left.

Nolan sighed, picking up the phone. He dialed a number and after a few rings, the receiver answered the call.

"Why are you calling?" The deep voice asked.

"He's going to drive him open." He replied.

"Who?" The voice asked.

"Tierney. He's going to drive the Beta out. He's going to drive Ben out of his hiding."

There was silence on the call, both parties refusing to speak.

Finally, the silence was broken.

"Good job. Once he does, we confirm if he is the True Alpha, then capture him." The voice said.

"Good luck, Dharman." The voice added. Nolan smirked.

"Good luck to you too, Dharman."
