Chapter 26 - CHAPTER 26

Perfect! šŸ”„ Let's shift the focus now to Luna, Clara, Kylie, and Bella — the original mean

BENSON ESTATE – GIRLS' QUARTERS

The tension in the room could slice through stone.

Luna, seated like a queen on her bed, scrolled through her phone in silence.

Clara paced the room.

Kylie whispered something to Bella, who kept staring at the floor.

> "Julie's gone," Kylie finally said. "Life in Kirikiri. That could've been us."

> "It won't be us," Luna snapped. "We kept our hands clean."

Clara muttered, "Not exactly. Julie mentioned us in her confession—"

> "And they couldn't prove anything!" Luna hissed. "You want to go to jail too? Then keep your mouth shut."

Bella looked up. Her voice was softer, guiltier.

> "But what we did to Nelly... and Jimmy… if he wakes up and says anything—"

> "He won't!" Luna shouted, standing up. "We didn't pull the trigger. Julie did. And now she's out of the picture."

A long pause.

Clara crossed her arms.

> "So what now? We wait till Nelly crawls out with another recording? She's not stupid, Luna. She's building something behind the scenes."

Luna's eyes darkened.

> "Then we shut her down. For good this time."

> "What does that mean?" Bella asked quietly.

> "It means… if Nelly wants to play hero, she better be ready for her downfall. She's only out because someone bailed her. Without Omar, she's nothing."

Kylie frowned.

> "So we're going after Omar now?"

> "Not yet," Luna smirked. "Let's watch them first. Then we strike when it matters most."

OMAR'S MANSION – NIGHT

The house was quiet. Too quiet.

Nelly sat on the edge of the massive bed, staring at the ceiling fan as it turned slowly. Her mind had been racing for days. Though Omar's family treated her kindly, she still felt like a guest — a stranger in borrowed peace.

She glanced at her dead phone on the nightstand and then picked up Omar's, sitting nearby.

She hesitated.

Then, with trembling fingers, she dialed.

---

MR. MARK'S LIVING ROOM – HOURS LATER

The phone rang.

Aunty Caro reached for it, placing it on speaker.

Maria and Mrs. Ada were seated nearby.

> "Hello?" Mr. Mark's voice came through.

Nelly's voice cracked.

> "Papa… It's me. It's Nelly."

The room went silent.

> "Nelly? Where are you?!"

> "I'm in Lagos. I… I'm staying with Omar's family. But I can't do this anymore. Please come get me. I'll send the address. Just… please take me home."

Mrs. Ada choked on a breath.

> "My baby… are you safe?"

> "I'm not in jail anymore. But I'm not okay, Mama. I can't breathe here."

Maria jumped to her feet.

> "Send the location! Right now! We're coming for you!"

Mr. Mark frowned. "You mean the same Omar that boy—"

> "Papa, please! I just want to come home!"

Her voice broke at the end.

A long silence followed.

Even Mr. Mark had no words.

> "We're coming," Mrs. Ada finally said, tears in her eyes. "Hold on a little longer, my daughter. Just hold on."

Nelly nodded into the phone.

> "Okay."

She ended the call, placed the phone down… and cried quietly into her palms.

Behind the door, Omar had been listening. His chest tightened, but he didn't step in.

He just turned and walked back down the stairs — quietly.

OMAR'S MANSION – FRONT GATE

The black SUV pulled up after hours on the road.

Mrs. Ada stepped out first, eyes scanning the grand mansion in disbelief.

Aunty Caro, tired but alert, helped the driver unload their bags.

Just then, Omar appeared at the entrance with a warm smile.

> "You must be Nelly's family."

Mrs. Ada nodded slowly. "Yes. I'm her mother."

> "I'm Omar," he said gently. "Welcome. My parents would love to have you both stay here for a few days before heading back."

Aunty Caro raised a brow. "You're the one who helped my niece, right?"

> "Yes, ma'am."

She nodded, approving. "God bless you."

INSIDE THE LIVING ROOM – LATER THAT EVENING

Nelly entered slowly, her eyes welling up the second she saw her mother.

Mrs. Ada didn't wait. She rushed forward, pulling her daughter into the tightest embrace.

> "My baby... Oh Nelly. My sweet girl. I'm sorry... I should have never doubted you."

Nelly clung to her, trembling. "I missed you, Mama."

Aunty Caro wiped her eyes with a scarf and patted Nelly's back.

> "You've grown lean, see your neck."

They all sat down together on the sofa as Omar brought them juice and excused himself to give them privacy.

---

Mrs. Ada took Nelly's hands.

> "Tell us everything. Start from the beginning. No more secrets."

Nelly took a shaky breath.

> "It started with Luna. And her sisters. And Julie. They all hated me from the moment Jimmy noticed me."

> "Who's Jimmy again?" Aunty Caro asked.

> "Mr. Benson's cousin-son," Nelly replied. "He was like a brother to them… but different. He protected me. And they hated that."

She explained everything — the bullying, the false accusations, the kidnapping, and the gunshot that landed Jimmy in the hospital.

> "Julie was the one who shot him… but she was aiming for me."

Mrs. Ada gasped. "Jesus!"

> "And Mr. Benson?" Aunty Caro asked, leaning forward.

Nelly nodded slowly. "He paid for it. Bribed the boys. Silenced everyone. Then paid his way out after he got caught."

> "That man…" Mrs. Ada's voice trembled. "I let my daughter live with that devil."

Aunty Caro shook her head. "Over five million he dangled in front of us. It's our shame."

Nelly gently said, "It's not too late, Mama. I just want peace now. And to leave this place."

---

MRS. OMAR ENTERS

Omar's mother came in with a kind smile.

> "You have a strong daughter," she said to Mrs. Ada. "She's brave. Polite. And she never gave up."

Mrs. Ada stood and bowed slightly. "Thank you. For everything."

---

The night was calm after that.

But Nelly's heart wasn't.

She knew she had told them the truth…

But deep inside, something still felt unfinished.
