Chapter 1 - Acceptance

Located deep in the Scottish Highlands a large orphanage sits perched inside a quaint village. The sound of a rooster pierces through the muted environment.

A young girl, sits in a creaky old chair rocking back and forward. She stares blankly at the object sitting in her hand, a peculiar piece of parchment paper. A familiar crest stares back like punchline to a joke already known.

.

She scrutinizes the paper, squinting her eyes harshly. Her face alternates between multiple different expressions before an awkward smile settles onto her face, the corners of her mouth twitching.

This was an acceptance letter from Hogwarts.

Seren Mairwen was a reincarnater and was fully aware of the significance of this letter. Don't get it wrong from the moment she was born in this world magic had been present in her life. Be it from the small miracles the caretakes would perform to entertain the kids or from the fact that she herself was a metamorphmagus.

from her early life to this current moment, Seren spent most of her time messing around with her unique traits.

Though, saying that she had grasped the limitations of her abilities would definitely be a lie. While she had spent quite a bit of time messing around with her abilities, magic worked it peculiar ways. So far, her current mastery only allows her to shift her appearance into people she knows quite well. Though those "people" are currently restricted to characters she knows from her past life. This is even more restricted by the fact that the only media's she could call herself true fans of is JoJo and Harry Potter.

being from the modern era, 1990 lacked the many of the technological enhancements that she had grown used to and while not an issue that would come to mind immediately the sheer lack of entertainment had been the greatest threat to her life, in this life. Let's just say, the statement "I would kill someone for JoJo." would no longer be an exaggeration.

"Breakfast Is Ready!"

Startling Seren out of her thoughts she hears Mrs. Mairwen's voice bellow out from a pipe in the wall... These pipes, originally used to call for servants, had existed long before this place was repurposed from a nobles manor into an orphanage.

Before heading off downstairs Seren briefly glances at herself in the mirror.

looking back stands a girl, eleven years of age. Hair a pleasant blue. Eyes large and mismatched, her right eye pretty shade of turquoise, the left, amber and shines like it could capture sunlight.

Taking one last in the mirror her appearance begins to shift. Her hair, starting from the root, transforms, black slowly stretching across the strands. Her eyes spin back into her head before emerging a mellow brown. She swiftly slips on a studious pair of black glasses.

Without waiting another moment, Seren quickly rushes downstairs without a single glance back. Dallying any longer would cost her a portion of breakfast.

.

She quickly takes place between two children of similar age. First glancing to the right she watches her friend, Kaiser, devour a piece of meat Infront of him. Kaiser was a larger boy with beady black features make him quite intimidating, combined with his semi superior aura he seems quite unapproachable. He is quite kind when you get to know him though.

Taking notice of her arrival he glances in her direction briefly before sliding her a plate.

"Oh hey, when did you get here?"

And then there's this idiot. Callisto. Her forehead twitches slightly as she turns her head. Same bright smile he wears every day, It's impossible to get a read on this guy. His hair blond shines with the radiance of the sun, too blinding for a night owl, couch rotter like Seren. And... in her words. "he happens to be annoyingly handsome." If someone were to be a protagonist, it would definitely be him... Though, In this world that position seems to already been taken.

Completely ignoring Seren's silence he continues.

"Sooo~, did you guys get accepted into Hogwarts."

Kaiser nods. he can always be counted on to do that.

The overexcited expression that adorns Callisto's face as he glances nervously at Seren. He was clearly concerned over the fact that one of them might not get into Hogwarts.

Following Kaisers lead, Seren responds with a singular curt nod.

"THATS GREAT!" he yells. A glare from a caretaker across the room shuts him up briefly.

"The black quill society gets to stay together for seven more years." That name sends a visible repulse down Seren's spine. this "black quill society" thing was a name he made up, by himself, because of the fact that they were the only people from Mairwen Orphanage to compete in literacy completion.

After taking a couple of deep breaths a strained smile appears on Seren's face

"That's great Callisto."

He tilts his head slightly to the side before responding, his eyes flicker with something deeper.

"why are you looking at me like that Seren, do you need to go to the bathroom?"

I swear this idiot is doing it on purpose!

"Huuuu"

Seren let's out a singular shaky breath.
