Chapter 14
Deep in the night.
After sending Rosica off, Rexid was back in the room where Raven’s body was laid to rest. This had been in his daily routine ever since he died.
Rexid gazed at Raven’s face as if he were still alive, sitting in the cold room all by himself.
-You know, Rex. I’m so jealous of them.
-Who are you talking about? You’re not talking about my people who are living from hand to mouth, are you?
-I am. At least they’re free. They don’t have to live under scrutiny of those around them, stick to such dull formalities, clash swords with the people that they love, or spend sleepless nights fearing that something bad will happen.
-What do you mean, sleepless nights? Is someone coming after you? Who? I guess I’ll just have to take care of them first.
-Haha… Hey, Rex. I’m so very tired. I thought I was holding on pretty well… but I’m so tired.
