Chapter 6 - Hungry Demon

"Yes I am." The demon answered with no shame as his stomach continued to protest. "That punishment took quite a bit of my energy, so of course I'm starving."

"Right…" I sighed as I stared at him. "Can you eat food or do you need something specific?"

I hoped to the Goddess that demons didn't eat anything strange because there was no way I was going to help him find whatever weird thing he needed to eat. He'd have to starve then.

"Your blood would be nice." The demon smirked revealing fangs.

My hand immediately went to my neck. "The fuck?! You're not a vampire! Why would you want my blood?"

"Vampirism started out as a mutated virus from demons." The demon shrugged, letting his fangs retract. "But human food works too if you can't handle a little nibble… It'd be a shame though. I'd bet you taste great."

His silver eyes had specks of purple appearing, making me wonder if his emotions affected his eyes. If so, purple was shamelessness clearly. He had no damn filter.

"Watch it. I have the option to not feed you too." I muttered. "Also you need to hide that you're a demon. Is that possible?"

It would be a problem if he couldn't hide the fact he was a demon. I'd have the wrong kind of people knocking at my door if they caught a whiff of him. And I sure as hell didn't need that right now.

This guy was enough trouble.

"If that's what you want I can shift into something else." The demon mused. He then smirked and asked, "Human or maybe a cat?"

"Human's fine." I answered, ignoring the dig at me wanting a cat familiar. "Once you've hidden your demon-ness, we can head upstairs and have a chat about this whole thing while I find you some food."

"Sure." The demon nodded his head before he snapped his fingers.

The demon horns on his head disappeared with the claws and collar. The rune markings on his chest and wrists changed to look more like tattoos and he didn't seem as pale as before.

He looked more human-like.

"I've hidden my demon form, so nobody will be able to know what I am unless they have a third eye or I shift back into my demon form." He said after shifting. "Also my power's reduced, so I can't do much in this form."

I wasn't sure exactly what he meant by that, but I didn't really need him using any of his powers. Not until I was sure about what was going on.

"That's fine." I replied. "Let's head upstairs."

He nodded his head and quietly followed me up the stairs to the kitchen. Once he was standing in the kitchen, I shut the basement door and locked it.

"Damn… this place is small." The demon noted before turning to me. "Are you a poor commoner?"

Commoner? What century did he think we were in? Then I suddenly recalled him saying he hadn't been to the human world for over two hundred years.

Seemed I was going to have to catch him up on two hundred years of advancements and history in the human world. Wait… Why was I even considering that?

The plan was to get him to go back to the Infernal Realm and be done with this whole mess. Not actually consider this strange familiar relationship. Or whatever the hell it was.

Still I guess it wouldn't hurt to give him some basic knowledge while I was stuck with him.

"Almost everyone is a commoner now… We aren't really ruled by kings or nobles anymore." I explained. "At least that's how the human world works now… Supernaturals are a bit more complicated. We have a Council though I guess."

"What happened to all your rulers?" The demon frowned at me. "Who rules the land now?"

"Rulers were mostly overthrown, some killed in the process…" I mused, walking over to the fridge to see if I had any frozen dinners around. "As for who rules, people normally appoint a leader through an election. But that's a whole other-"

Beep!

The sound of the microwave instantly made me turn around to see the demon pressing buttons on it. He noticed my gaze and asked, "What does this do?"

"It's for heating up food. Don't touch it, it's expensive." I hissed out before pointing at the kitchen chair. "Go sit there and don't touch anything."

"Fine." He muttered, plonking down on the seat. "How long will it take you to prepare food?"

I felt the vein in my forehead twitch in annoyance. "As long as necessary, so shut it."

I turned my attention back to the freezer, looking through it for any quick meals. I know I had a frozen pizza or something here. That was if Eris hadn't gotten to it first.

Otherwise, the demon was stuck with peanut butter sandwiches until tomorrow.

Thankfully, I managed to find the pizzas and quickly pulled them out, moving over to the microwave. The demon watched me quietly as I put one in and grabbed plates.

Setting one down in front of him, I asked, "What's your name?"

Perhaps it was because of the whole confusing situation, but I realized that I had forgotten to ask him what his name was.

"You can call me Ryker, pretty boy." He answered with a sharp grin. "What about yourself?"

"Luca and stop calling me pretty boy." I replied. "Want anything to drink?"

If I was going to feed him, I might as well get him a drink to go with it. It would be strange not to offer a drink after giving him some food.

"Your blood." Ryker stated casually as he leaned his head on his hand, making me frown.

"I'm not giving you my blood, so don't try it." I warned him. "You can pick between juice, water or a beer?"

"Beer then."

I nodded and quickly grabbed two out the fridge just as the microwave beeped again. Ryker silently watched me as I put the beers down on the table and took out the pizza.

Setting it down for us, I said, "Be careful it's hot."

"I've touched hotter things." Ryker muttered, shoving a whole slice of pizza down his throat. "Thanks for the food."

I sighed at him, giving up. "Sure no problem. Just chew so you don't choke at least."

The next day could not come sooner.
