Chapter 1 - Chapter One: The Empty Room

An old tungsten filament lamp hangs from the center of the ceiling by a black wire, casting a dim and flickering glow. The room is filled with a quiet atmosphere, as if ink were spreading through clear water. In the middle of the room stands a large, weathered round table, with a delicately patterned small clock at its center, ticking steadily. Ten people sit around the table, each dressed differently in somewhat worn clothes, their faces covered in dust.

Some of them were lying face down on the table, while others were leaning back in their chairs, all sound asleep. Beside these ten people stood a man quietly, wearing a goat-head mask and dressed in a black suit. His gaze, peering out from the worn mask, was fixed on the ten with great interest. The clock on the table began to chime, with both the minute and hour hands pointing to twelve. From a distant place outside the room, a deep bell toll could be heard. At that very moment, those seated around the round table— Ten men and women slowly woke up.

As they gradually regained consciousness, they first looked around in confusion, then glanced at each other with puzzled expressions. It seemed that none of them remembered why they were there. "Good morning, all nine of you," the man with the goat's head spoke first. "I'm glad to meet you here. You have been asleep in front of me for twelve hours." The man's appearance was truly bizarre, and under the dim light, he startled everyone present.

His mask seemed to be made from a real goat's head, with much of the hair having turned yellow and black, matted and stuck together.

It seems that no one remembers why they ended up here.

"Good morning, Nine," the goat-headed figure spoke first. "I'm glad to meet you here. You have been asleep before me for twelve hours."

The man's appearance was truly bizarre, startling everyone under the dim lights.

His mask seemed to be made from a real goat's head, with much of the hair having turned yellow and black, matted and clumped together.

Two holes were cut out where the eyes of the goat mask were, revealing his cunning eyes.

Not only did his every movement exude the distinctive musky odor of a goat, but there was also a faint undertone of decay.

A man with tattooed sleeves was stunned for a few seconds before he finally realized something was off. Hesitantly, he asked the goat-headed figure, 'Who... are you?'

I'm sure you all have this question, soLet me introduce the nine of them to you." The goat-headed figure cheerfully waved both hands, looking as if he had already prepared the answer.

A young man named Qi Xia sat at the farthest spot from the goat's head. He quickly surveyed the room, and after a moment, his expression grew serious.

Strange, this room is really bizarre.

There are no doors here; all four sides are walls.

In other words, the room is completely enclosed on all sides, including the roof and floor, yet there is a table placed right in the center.
