I love people watching. It's easily my favorite past time when I come to Earth. I've visited every place on this planet over the millennia I have existed. And while every place has their charms and adventures, there's something truly special about Los Angeles and its neighboring zones. I love having access to the city and the proximity to the ocean. I'd never admit it to Poseidon but, I always envied his blessings.
Silently, I stroll down 12th street, invisible to the creatures sharing the sidewalk with me. Well except for animals and the new mutants of our worlds, they can see and sense my presence. To humans, I am but a feeling. As I pass, I radiate pain, dread and death…all part of my curse, courtesy of Zeus. My brothers, long gone after the great Faith Crisis. And with this crisis, a poison sank into the world, corrupting the laws of nature.
Many centuries ago, we were written off as myth and legends. Remade amongst other false deities, claiming our responsibilities and duties. As the last of our followers perished or converted to new age beliefs, our kind began to fade and die. Turns out our immortality was never guaranteed.
But then, why am I still here?
And why after Zeus was disintegrated, was my curse not lifted?
My research has produced no answers. Not even a whisper of a rumor.
The death of the gods and goddesses of old paved way for a new generation of beings.
Before their demise, my cousin Hecate, used the last of her power to create witches and warlocks. But with the corruption in the laws of nature, rather than eliminating these "abominations", it allowed for the mutation of other creatures. Vampires and werewolves mostly. There have been whispers amongst the shadows that there may be much older, mythical beasts hidden or hibernating within the Earth.
