I went back to the first place I woke up in. And there, I saw her.
A girl.
She looked familiar—short hair, tomboyish style, and those features made me think of just one person.
Jane.
Jane was my classmate back in elementary school. After COVID-19, we never talked again, never met, never even saw each other.
(And just to be clear—we were just classmates, nothing more.)
But now… here she was, in this strange place I still didn't understand.
Jane squinted and rubbed her eyes. She was about to wake up.
I panicked and hid behind a tree.
She stood slowly, looking around in confusion. Her face changed the moment she saw her surroundings. When her eyes landed on the tree I was hiding behind, she noticed something—me.
She stepped back quickly and pulled out a cube—just like mine, but hers was red. She raised it like she was about to throw it.
"Who are you?! Where am I?!" she shouted.
I raised both hands and stepped out slowly. "Don't worry, Jane," I said, trying to sound calm. And forced a nervous smile.
She frowned. "Jane is not my name. And, who are you?" Her voice was firm, and it kind of hurt that she didn't remember me.
(Well… yeah, of course she didn't.)
"Damn," I whispered. "It's me. Sydney," I said, keeping my hands up.
She relaxed a little but still held the cube tightly.
I sat down on the grass. "It's me, Sydney—your classmate from elementary school."
She paused, thinking. Then her eyes lit up a bit. "Oh, Sydney. You're the one who—"
"Okay, stop. I don't want to hear that again," I cut her off.
She chuckled. "Alright, alright."
"So, how long have you been here?" she asked.
"Two months, I think. But I'm not really sure. I didn't count," I said.
"Two months, huh? Then you must know—"
"No, I don't," I interrupted. "I don't even know why I'm here. I just… survive in this place."
I sighed. "So how about you? How did you get here?"
"I was jus—hmm, weird I a thing on how I got here" she looks confused
"I don't remember anything. Just that I was falling from the sky. Then I wake up here." She's in even more confused.
"Don't think too much about it," I told her. "We're still fine without those memories. But for now, I need you to come to my cabin and it's about to turn night. It's just over there." I pointed to the right.
"Okay," she said as she stood up. "Should I go first?"
"Let's grab your stuff first."
"What stuff?" she asked.
I pointed to the ground. "There. The bag, the book, and the cube you're holding."
"Oh," she said, surprised. Then she picked them up.
"You should read the book first," I suggested while she put on the backpack.
"Alright," she replied. She took the cube, placed it in her bag, and opened the book.
Inside, it read:
"Dear Miss Jane (or should I say @#&... yeah, I did it again. Silly me).
You must've met the first arrival—Mr. Bullshit. Was it fun meeting him? If so, kiss him.
Nah, just kidding, hahaha.
Okay, I'll be serious now. You were transported to this place called $@##$@. So good luck =^~^=
Oh! I forgot—check the next page to find out how your book, bag, and cube work.
BYEBYE
Yours truly,
GodDemon"
Jane closed the book slowly. "Do you know who this GodDemon is?" she asked with curiosity.
"No," I said honestly.
"Why did he call you Mr. Bullshit?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I don't know," I muttered. I really didn't.
She didn't push the question.
After that whole mess, we headed to my cabin. I helped her settle in and built her a bed from dried grass. I also showed her how to use the cube so she could make her own bedsheets and other things to make her space more comfortable and when tried it, it didn't work,
I asked her"Where's your book?"
"It's in the table" she replied
I toke the book and read the second page, it says:
Red Cube's function is that it can only turn into a weapon.
Special effect: Flare Touch.
I was a bit jealous of her cube when I read it but I won't complain, since her is not as versatile as mine.
But how can she—"Oh" I gasp thought of an idea. I pulled my cube and remove a smaller cube and gave it to her.
"Use this for now " Handing out the small cube to her
Jane accept the small cube and use it to make a bedsheet to sleep on.
"Thanks"
"No probs"
We went our own bed and sleep for the night.
