Mandie!!! Mandie!!! Wake up Mandie…
She wakes up in a cold sweat thinking she heard her mother. From the lights glimmering
through the blinds of the window, you can see the stressed look on her pale face. As she gets out
of bed, she staggers a little, still intoxicated from the drugs she indulged in only a few hours ago.
Leaning on the wall walking into the bathroom you can see her gown is torn. While in the
bathroom she looks in the mirror to inspect her war wounds from the battle with her on again off
again boyfriend Tommy. Her red hair is a total mess and all over her head. She had multiple bruises all over her
arms, but the worst of Tommy's aggression was taking out on her pale face. Her jaw is swollen,
scratched up, but the most visible is the black eye she received for being late with dinner. Crying,
looking at her face, she opens the medicine cabinet and grabs a bottle of pills. She opens the
bottle and takes a few to ease the pain from Tommy's physical and verbal abuse that she has
grown accustomed to receiving. She begins to run herself a bath to wash his smell off her
because it's starting to make her sick. While sitting in the tub still sobbing, she sees her razor on the edge of the tub. She grabs
it and breaks it open. With two quick swipes she cuts open both of her wrists. She closes her eyes
and again she hears her mother's voice calling out to her again.

She opens her eyes…
She's twelve again playing outside. Seeing her mom on the porch calling out to her she
runs up to her and hugs her for dear life. Her mother looks at her and tells her that "It's not your time yet sweetheart. You must fight because you have a lot to do and a short time to do it. You have been chosen baby to do something special." She closes her eyes and holds her mother for dear life. She opens her eyes…
Crying from seeing her mother and she is laying in a hospital bed. Still extremely weak
from all the blood she lost, she begins to fade back out. But, before she does, she hears the nurse
say "Just rest now sweetheart. You're safe now".
She opens her eyes…
Am I dreaming?? Have I died??
She asks herself while standing next to herself laying on the hospital bed. It must be all a dream she tries to convince herself.
What else could it be???
I'm not going crazy, am I???
