Chapter 1 - Prologue: Arrival

* BIP * * BIP * * BIP * * BIP *

The sound of that vagabond alarm that even though it always rings the same time every day the desire to break it in half never disappears began to ring in that room.

Even though it was a familiar sound, something that was already part of the routine, it looked different. More distant, noisier, more different...

But it was still the same alarm.

Slowly, a young man began to wake up while lazily extending his hand and turning off the alarm, releasing a small grunt at his interrupted sleep.

His black hair, always goosebumps and messy, seemed to have gone through a more horrible hair competition, looking like something that a mouse chewed and then spat on.

His eyes were opening slowly, heavy dark circles showing themselves below them, a sign of the clear lack of sleep and lost nights without being able to close their eyes.

His physique wasn't a big deal either. His thin body with more skin than meat and bones, almost bordering on malnutrition, made it seem that even a child could beat him in combat. That was probably true.

The young man's brown and tired eyes slowly walked around the room, analyzing every detail and part of his private room.

Your old bookshelf (yes, real books), your clothes closet, the old posters of the most powerful heroes on earth, your kind of old computer, among others.

Even though it was the exact same room he grew up in, even all the things he remembered in the place he remembered, even if he was the same as when he went to sleep yesterday...

He looked different.

"It must be the lack of sleep affecting me" He thought, not giving much ball to the subject.

"I still have to go to school, it's better to get up soon" He thought giving one last check on the alarm time, seeing that now it was 6:10 in the morning, before finally getting up.

The first thing that bothered him when he got up was the momentary weakness he felt. His body seemed heavier, more locked, more fragile, something he didn't usually feel even with his weak physique.

Then came the headache. A slight point of pain took his head, disappearing almost at the same time without causing much impact.

And finally, hunger came to thirst, the result of having gone to sleep without dinner that day.

After all these sensations, he finally got up completely from the bed and took a towel thrown around before leaving the room and entering the hallway bathroom.

The silence of that house, even in the morning, brought an unusual feeling and a feeling that he could not identify, but he just ignored all this as he entered the bathroom.

Stopping to admire his thin figure and no muscle mass, the young man made a point of putting the same reminder to go to the gym that he would obviously never fulfill before starting to brush his teeth.

As soon as it was over, before I could take off my clothes and start washing...

Your body crashed.

It was as if any action and reaction he was or would perform had been cut without explanation.

His vision was blurred, his head began to spin, his body trembled and sweat gradually flowed from his forehead.

That's when it just ended, the same way it started. Of nowhere. His body returned to normal and all those actions seemed that they had never really happened.

But at the end of the process, that young man was no longer the same. He approached the mirror, looked at his face and began to touch it, as if he were analyzing it.

He did this same process with the rest of the body. He touched, pinched, pulled and continued until he was satisfied and finally looked back at the mirror.

His look had also changed. Instead of being that tired and almost lifeless look from before, now his look had slight traces of excitement and curiosity.

"So that was real... " He murmured, amazement and happiness in his voice, like a child talking about a movie he had liked a lot, as if he were witnessing an impossible scene by the standards of reality " I reincarnated.. "

His murmurs continued, varying between questions about how that was possible, who had done that, why he had been chosen for such a thing and other minor questions.

Until, after the surprise finally ended and rationality took over his mind, he finally asked the most important question.

"Where am I? " He asked himself in the mirror, not expecting an answer, but wanting to focus his brain on this urgent questioning.

But the answer came from where he least expected it.

[ You won't like to know ]

A voice resound in his head, feminine, cold and distant, as if it were the voice of a robot or just someone extremely bored.

He looked around at every corner, up, down, left and right, but could not identify or find the source of the voice. But then he realized, the voice had come from inside his head, not from outside.

"Are you... in my head? " He asked incredulously. That question seemed ridiculous and meaningless, but taking into account his situation, as someone who died and was reborn, it was not the most absurd thing about that whole scene.

[ If and no, hard to explain, but I'm talking telepathically with you ]

This statement made the young man raise an eyebrow, not caring about the fact that there was someone talking to him telepathically but being more interested in knowing who he was talking to.

"Who are you? "He then asked the question he should have asked at the beginning of the conversation, with his curiosity in the heights about the strange person he was talking to.

There was a brief strange silence before a sigh resonated in his mind.

[ My name is Égida ]

[ And you, Leonard Muller, are my chosen one of this universe ]
