Synopsis
Reincarnating into the world of Naruto sounds exciting... Until you're born in the middle of a battlefield, your mother dies instantly, and you find out you're stuck in the era of Hiruzen Sarutobi—the worst possible time to be an orphan. Now named Furukawa Kenji, this reincarnated soul will have to carve his path in a world where life is worth less than a rusty kunai. With no special powers or notable bloodline, his only advantages are a cold mind, an iron will, and a complete disregard for the romantic illusions of ninja heroism. Welcome to Konoha. Good luck staying alive.

Chapter 1 - Prologue

... Shit, I don't remember exactly what happened. The last thing I recall is seeing some sources of light ahead, and after that—just pain.

"It's a boy," said a voice, but I hear it like my ears are full of water. Also, I can't see a damn thing.

I tried to open my eyes, but the light hurt. I only managed to glimpse a woman with messy black hair and eyes as dark as the night. She was holding me in her arms... Who the hell is she supposed to be?

"My son... you're just like your father," she whispered tenderly, before her voice broke under the weight of her tears.

What the hell is going on? Can someone explain this to me or am I supposed to guess?

"Your name from now on will be Kenji, Furukawa Kenji," she whispered, then fell as if asleep.

I watched her collapse, as if her breath had left her. A red trail ran from her lip, and beneath her chest, an open wound bled without stopping. Blood pooled beneath her, some of it soaking my body.

Wait—am I a baby? I'm just born and my mother dies? What kind of fucked-up luck is that... I tell myself that in my head to stay calm, but honestly, I'm scared. If she's like that, then there must be an attacker nearby, right? So what if that attacker just happens to kill me too? I've barely reincarnated and I'm already about to die? How screwed is my luck?

Looking up at the sky since I have no other option, I see ninja stars and kunai clashing midair, along with massive fireballs and wind blades flying around.

Did I reincarnate in one of those fantasy isekai worlds? – I ask myself, trying to make sense of the situation, but in the end, I decide to shut my brain off since I'm probably going to die anyway.

I hear screams and flesh being sliced. That's when I see a rather frightening face. A woman with black hair, wearing a black jumpsuit and a green vest. But her eyes... they're red, with several black dots in addition to her pupils.

Sharingan? – I exclaimed in my mind, then I noticed her vest has a symbol I saw too many times before I died: the symbol of Konoha, from the Naruto anime.

"I reincarnated in Naruto and I'm already an orphan?" – what a load of crap.

The woman with the Sharingan picks me up while staring at my dead mother. Then she hugs me and bolts out of the battlefield at high speed.

On the way, I see that the place where my mother died was a road, and there's a cart nearby. From those clues, I guess she was just passing through when some rogue ninjas attacked... I think. Whether that's true or not, or if it's some conspiracy, I have no clue, and at this point, I honestly don't think I even care.

"She's your mother," you'll say—but dude, I saw her once and she died. I didn't even get the chance to get attached or anything. It's not like I can feel something for someone I barely met. Still, I do recognize that it's sad to lose your mother right at birth.

So now I think I'll probably end up in an orphanage, and I have no idea what timeline I'm in or even who the Hokage is. If it's Hiruzen, then I'm 100% sure I just spawned into some real bullshit.

Putting all that aside, the woman with the Sharingan reaches the gates of a village. That's when I take the chance to look at the Hokage Rock to check who the current Hokage is.

She enters, and on the Hokage Rock, there are three faces... Three...It's Hiruzen.

Goddammit.
