Chapter 1 - How it all started

The world was still peaceful.

People laughed in open streets, students rushed to school with wide grins, and cities buzzed with traffic and voices. Everything felt normal—almost too normal.

"This is the end of our class," the teacher announced, closing her book.

Students stirred. Bags rustled as everyone packed up.

"Whooo! Miya, do you mind coming to my friendship party?" Sakura called out, her energy bouncing off the walls. "Yes! I'd be really excited to," Miya replied, smiling.

The boys shouted from the back, "We're coming too! Don't forget us!"

"No problem. I'll be expecting you all," Sakura said as they laughed and walked out together, heading toward the library.

Meanwhile, far away in a sealed laboratory—the most advanced facility in the country of Shikatsu—a darker mission was underway.

Inside the lab, high-level researchers were focused on a classified project. At the center of it: a drug capable of reanimating the dead.

Supporting the operation were the brilliant husband-and-wife duo—Mr. and Mrs. Aoshi.

Finally, after years of testing, they had completed the formula. Its name: "Kishin-09."

In the presidential estate, President Aizawa Yuji sat in silence. It had been a month since his beloved wife died in a plane crash. He hadn't smiled since.

He had ordered the lab to find a way—any way—to bring her back.

And now, the moment had come.

Deep in the cold room, where her frozen body lay beneath glass, the Aoshis stood beside the lead scientist. Her skin was pale. Still. Silent.

Mr. Aoshi opened her mouth gently. Mrs. Aoshi stepped forward, holding the sealed vial. The older scientist took it without a word.

He opened the vial and poured a few drops into her mouth. Then, with steady hands, he injected the rest directly into her arm. They attached her to a drip, sealed the chamber, and locked it.

"We'll return tonight," the lead scientist said quietly. "Six to seven hours. By then... she should be awake."

Later, they met with President Yuji and gave him the news. He said nothing—just closed his eyes, and whispered his wife's name.

That evening, Miya got home, did some chores around the house, and made dinner for her brother Kizuki, who was still at work. After that, she got dressed and was about to take a taxi to Sakura's house when a jeep suddenly pulled up in front of her gate. It was Sakura's car.

"Come in," Sakura said, smiling.

Miya's face lit up. She hopped in, and they headed off to the party.

They arrived to find the place already buzzing with life. A crowd had gathered—all their college mates were there. The party had clearly started.

As soon as Sakura stepped down, cheers erupted. Everyone was excited to see her.

Then Miya stepped out, and the boys shouted, "Our cute love!"

Laughter followed. Everyone seemed genuinely happy. Music played, people danced, laughed, played games, drank, and did their own thing. Some sneaked off with their boyfriends. The vibe was electric, and the air was rich with the smell of good food.

Meanwhile, back at the lab...

It was nearly time to check on the President's wife—the one they'd been working on for months.

The room where she was kept felt wrong. The lights above her chamber flickered, the walls were too quiet, and the air was so cold it felt like it crawled under your skin.

Mrs. Aoshi decided to go take a look.

But the moment she got there, her steps slowed.

The woman was sitting up, completely still—like she'd been awake for hours, just watching.

Panic flashed through Mrs. Aoshi. She ran back to the senior scientist.

"She's awake!" she blurted.

The shock hit hard. The three of them, along with a few other scientists, rushed to the sealed door and opened it.

Inside, the woman looked... mostly normal. But her hair was messy, her face pale and tight, like something had been eating at her from the inside.

The scientist stepped forward. "Madam, are you okay?"

She didn't respond.

Another scientist tried. Still no answer.

Then, suddenly, she crouched on the bed like Spider-Man and started muttering strange, twisted words no one understood.

Her voice didn't sound human. Her body jerked in unnatural ways. It felt wrong.

Everyone panicked and ran out, slamming the door shut behind them.

"Maybe the drug hasn't finished working," someone said, breathing hard.

They headed into the CCTV room and started watching her from the monitors. One minute she was calm… the next, wild.

She clawed at her scalp until most of her hair was gone.

She slammed her forehead against the wall, blood smearing down the surface.

"She's hurting herself," one whispered.

"Sir, is this how the project was supposed to work?" Mr. Aoshi asked.

"I… I don't know," the lead scientist muttered. "My head is spinning. We followed everything perfectly. Why is this happening?"

They didn't have an answer—so they called President Aizawa.

The President didn't wait. He called his driver and they sped through the city. Within minutes, they arrived at the lab.

"Where is she?" he demanded.

They took him to the room. He stared through the glass.

"She looks like she's lost some of her memories," the senior scientist said.

"My love…" the President whispered.

Then she looked at him and softly said, "Honey," like nothing had happened.

His eyes widened.

"Open the door!" he said quickly.

"I'm sorry, sir," the scientist replied, holding the keys. "With all due respect, I can't. She's still under surveillance."

"I said open the door!"

The two struggled. The scientist refused, but the President grabbed the keys from his hands and unlocked the door.

Everyone stepped back.

He ran in and hugged her tightly. "I missed you, baby," he said, tears falling from his eyes.

"I missed you too, honey," she whispered back, crying.

At that moment, the virus hadn't fully taken over. Her voice still sounded like hers.

But then, without warning—she sank her teeth into the side of his neck.

Blood spilled down her face as she drank him like water.

The President screamed.

Everyone froze. Then chaos exploded.

People screamed and ran. Mr. Aoshi slammed the door shut and locked it.

Through the glass, they watched her tear into him. She ripped through his face and neck.

Then she looked up, blood dripping from her mouth, and screeched, "I want blood!"

Her transformation accelerated. The more blood she got, the faster the virus spread.

The President, now collapsed on the ground, started convulsing. His bones cracked as they reshaped.

He stood up, his eyes milk-white. He groaned, deep and inhuman.

"Blooood…" he growled.

"Everyone get out of here!" the senior scientist yelled.

The lab scattered—everyone running in different directions, locking doors behind them, rushing back to their workstations in a panic.

"What do we do now?" Mrs. Aoshi said, breathless. "This… this isn't a normal infection."

"How is this possible?"

"I'll go through the data we used to build the formula," the lead scientist said. "Please… we need to move fast. We have to find the cause."
