Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: A Month Passed

Part 1

A month has passed. Now I'm officially one month old. Nothing remarkable happened during that one month, except maybe when the Paul guy made another cribs beside me.

That cribs has the same design and maybe also same material as mine. Made from wood, with something layering its surface, making it shiny. There's also some carving, but only small portion of it.

They really plan to raise me togheter with their child in the future huh? Did I just got myself a family? Not blood related but adopted one. But if it can provide me relatively normal childhood then it's fine. Though I don't how to respond to having a new parents. I definitely can't see them as my new mom and dad, but I can still consider them as my family.

This made me consider how to address them. Do I need to refer them as such? But that would feel awkward. However, I definitely must refer them as mom and dad, mainly to not draw suspicion...but I'm not their child to begin with.

Hmm....

That's not the main focus right now. I'm still a baby physically, just a month old at that. I definitely need sometimes to readjust, no need to bother myself with something like that. Maybe only consider it when I should start talking.

Moving on, looks like It's time for Lilia to clean my room. She entered my room with broom and duster. She cleaned my room carefully. She's earnest in her work, I give her that. Tho she occasionally glances at me. She seems to be interested in my....eyes? And hair. Oh, she's also drawn to wings behind my back. Yeah, wings. Pure white, scaly wings instead of feathery. Not from bat, but rather from some kind of reptile.

That means I'm not some kind of demon nor angels...tho I'm sure if there's any demon or angel they won't be born from egg. Am I really a monster? If so, why are they keeping me? Or maybe there's a race that's truly lay egg instead giving birth like human.

That made me wondering what I am exactly. Some kind of lizard people or something? Thinking about it, my skin isn't exactly like human either. Smooth, but the texture made it feels like a layer of reptilian scale. It won't be visible if you only glance at it. But if someone touch my skin and feeling it, they would notice, definitely. This made me a little worried for the future. Turning into a new life only to be met with scrutiny and racism would not be ideal.

An approaching figure breaks me from my train of thought. Lilia walked slowly to me, her red hair is swaying a bit. She stares at me with her beautiful eyes, though her expression turned soft upon meeting my eyes.

"Elfuni elmehera fu Silvia?"

She muttered something, but considering I'm still a baby in her eyes, she's definitely only muttering to herself. And with soft hand, she's poking my cheek, earning her annoyed glare from me. Thought she ignores it completely.

Being a baby can have its own upside and downside. On one hand, you can make everyone tend to you and no one sane would hurt you. On the other hand, be ready to be an object of teasing, poking and teasing again. And you can't do anything about it. Pouting and glaring would only make it worse.

Fortunately, Paul, the lord of the house, comes to my rescue. He began approaching my cribs, eyes glued to me. He's definitely amused by my annoyed face.

Can you try stoping Lilia from poking my cheek?

"Eltegera, mu Silvia u leka? Uh tuna na sufi."

"Fu Silvia tuh ehmera vanu sifi."

No? Okay, you're definitely not my favorite person in the house, Paul.

They began chatting with each other, completely ignoring my presence...not. Lilia's hand is still poking my cheek. It's annoying, but I can't do anything about it. Slapping it wouldn't discourage Lilia a single bit. Lilia would likely try different metod to annoy me. Better leaving it be and not making it any worse.

Though from their chat...nope. I stll can't understand it. Though, I can already recognize some words. Like miss, lord, chores, garden, sword, night activity....okay, ignore the last one. I have a feeling that Paul would definitely be a bad influence in the future. Though can't blame him completely. I'm a baby, he thinks I won't understand a thing. He better be more considerate when his real child is born.

Anyway, seems like my new name in this world is Silvia. Beautiful name, I might say. Silvia huh. Not sure tho what it means here. But I also don't know it's meaning back on earth either.

Part 2

It is morning when when Zenith takes to the outside. A green yard with some trees greeted me, fresh air enters my nostrils. Blue sky with some clouds floating, not enough to cover the sunlight. Some kind of magical creatures pass by occasionally, mainly flying through the sky. From the hills and minimal neighbors, we're clearly in a village.

Something likes this, some people might say that this is heaven. No pollution, just fresh air and greenery, added with some magical touch in it. I bet some people from earth would pay just to visit place like this.

"Ehre lu fath mu illu sufi. Itu e esliha."

"Neh si ma sifi. Lu ima fi sufi."

Zenith is currently talking with Lilia about god knows what. Maybe they're talking about life, about the village, maybe about the scenery they enjoy right now. I'm slowly learning the language, however it might take a while, mainly due to some disadvantages in having baby body.

I tend to sleep long, and would suddenly fell asleep out of nowhere even if I don't want to. It limits my time in learning language. But there's no point to complain too much about it. Guess I just have to take it slow.

Back to what I observe, Zenith is currently sitting on a chair opposite to Lilia. A small table between them with two glasses containing some kind of drinks on it. I'm now tended by Lilia, as Zenith already fed me a few moments ago.

As for Paul? He's now training with sword. Yeah, sword. Seems like he's pretty skilled.

The air is swishing whenever he swings his sword. Very agile, fast, and powerful. Is sword a standard weapon here? I don't know but most fantasy stories I read are obsessed with sword. And some friends I had back when I was a teenager on earth also love sword, or at least more familiar with it then any other weapon.

Guess sword is just cool then. Maybe I should learn how to fught with sword sword someday.

"Ehta re fisi ufa."

Seemingly tired of training, Paul rested his sword aside and approaching us. Seeing that, Lilia gets up and then handed me to Zenith carefully. I was pretty confised, but then realize that Lilia is pretty much the maid in this house. She went to the inside of the house to prepare a drink for him then.

"Fah re lu sifi ufi ka, Silvia?"

My name was called by Zenith. Looking at her face, I see her smiling. I don't know what she's trying to say, but I give her my best response; showing her my best smile. It's pretty funny seeing her trying to communicate with me who's still a baby in her eyes and not understanding a word she said. Though, a lot of parents did that all the time to their children. Guess it's a pretty effective way to make the child to pick on word faster. Maybe.

Paul and Zenith chatted quite a bit. Sometimes they laughed, sometimes they turned pretty serious. However, I can tell they're happy couple. I hope this last forever, for both of their sake and my sake. Let's hope there won't be any trouble raising in the future.

Lilia comes out several minutes later, carrying a glass of what I think to be a juice to Paul. Paul received it with glee, drinking it in several gulps. Those three then chatted for several minutes. Happy and relaxed face, they seem to enjoy this moment.

Until suddenly, Zenith hold her belly, her face seems to be in pain.

"Zenith?!"

"Lai fu!!"

And so, the moment of relaxation is interrupted. Paul immediately picks me up while Lilia helps Zenith to go inside. Paul is panicking a bit but quickly calmed down a bit after Lilia reassuring him. Is this the day? The day when Zenith gives birth?

Part 3

Hours upon hours have passed, yet grunt and pained yelp can still be heard from inside the bedroom. Even in the outside I can still feel tense atmosphere. Well, it's mainly coming from Paul.

The man of the house, the husband, is now fidgeting beside me who is laying on cribs that he brought ouside. I knew Paul would want to go inside, however, Lilia forced him to stay outside just so he can take care of me.

I honestly won't mind being left here alone. But I can't tell them as I'm unable to speak yet.

Anyway, Paul now is fidgeting, anxiety is clear on his expression. Food and drink, right on the table beside him, offered to him by Lilia, hoping it will ease him up, though it fails miserably with him ignoring it completely. There's also a bottle of milk for me, but he's too anxious to realize it.

"Au! Au!"

I yell at him, to tell I'm hungry as well to distract him even just for moment. And it works, he immediately shifts his attention to me, and then looks to the table where my bottle is on. He gets up, picks it, and offers it to me.

He mutters something while feeding me. Tho I can't understand it, I can sense an apologetic tone in his voice. He looks at me with tired smile, his eyes look so tired as well.

Is waiting your wife giving birth truly drained your spirit that much, Paul? You should better prepare yourself then with how active you're with your wife, this isn't gonna be your last child. Bet you will have two more after this one.

Huh.

I feel sleepy. Maybe this whole ordeal also drained my energy unconsciously, or maybe it's because my baby body can't stay awake that long yet. With satisfied belly, I'm quickly drifting to sleep.

Part 4

Ii don't know how long I fell asleep. The cribs where I lay on is now inside a bedroom right now. Familiar ceiling greets me as I lokk up. Has the labour ended? How is Zenith now? How is the baby?

Many questions pop up inside my head, yet no one answers them.

With no useful thought, I look around, and find Paul is making silly face looking over other cribs. His face looks quite amusing, yet I can't deny happiness and relief coming from him. It's like the weight of the world has just been pifted from him.

Looking to the crib, I spot a baby inside it. An adorable baby with green eyes and light brown hair, his eyes are drifting around. As if he's insoecting sonething, he keeps his gaze wandering around, completely ignoring Paul who tries his best to entertain him.

And then, his gaze finally lands on me. His eyes widen, before blinking twice. His face clearly shows surprise...and amazement?

Heh, you're quite expressive for a baby, brother.
