I remember the day it all began very vividly. For others, it was that one day they never ever want to remember, but for me, even though I tried so hard, it kept on replaying in my head over and over again.
On July 16th, 2077, the world as we knew it came to an end, and for once, the government couldn't do anything about it.
I was 18 at that time, and I had just finished working a two-hour shift at the convenience store when, out of nowhere, a huge meteor landed on the earth, killing more than 3 million people.
We thought that was all there was to it, but the meteor didn't land alone.
Accompanying it was a group of world star-light species which we called "Star Bats."
They were tiny creatures that bit humans and lived in them like parasites, killing them and taking over their bodies.
After that, within ten days of death, the human being rises again as an absolute monster—
Having both strength, intellect, and flexibility.
The only way to kill them?
Fire.
The only thing they were all afraid of was fire, and it took the government a whole lot of time to figure that out.
In less than two months after their arrival, the whole world had turned into nothing more than their feeding ground.
Yet, amongst those who had gotten bitten, there were a few who were said to have control over themselves and even possessed abilities greater than anyone could imagine.
But the government saw those special beings as a greater threat to mankind. After all, such an ability in the wrong hands could cause death and chaos.
And so, those special beings were given a name—"Star Beings"—and were hunted wherever they went. Thus, they went into hiding, keeping their abilities a secret.
I, on the other hand, was just an 18-year-old girl in the foster care system.
I had no family.
No driver's license.
And now, thanks to a stupid apocalypse, no job.
Who I had to rely on was myself and no one else.
I tried to stay out of sight and stay hidden for almost two years, but it wasn't easy.
Apparently, the world was filled with two types of monsters—the Star Bats and we humans ourselves.
After the invasion, the world system collapsed, and people only cared about survival.
Brother betrayed brother.
Wife betrayed husband.
The world had no trace of humanity left. All were thriving to survive without caring who they sacrificed in the process.
Soon, I had to taste what the new world had turned into—especially for beautiful women like me.
I was abducted and found myself taken to an underground auction house, where I was to be sold.
The world was so terrible that anyone could be sold for something you could have gotten with just a dollar.
Even I became an invaluable item.
When I was chained down and placed in a cage, it finally dawned on me that in the apocalypse, you had absolutely no worth.
And when I thought all hope was lost, you could say my knight in black armor appeared. Yet who was I to know he was taking my life to an entirely new dimension?
