Chapter 3 - How Tragic

Jacob looked around. His relatives all had pitiful gazes towards him and his siblings, but he doubted any of them would willingly take them in.

"My my, how unfortunate. With Mary and Jihoon dead, who would take care of them?" His auntie whispered, but Jacob clearly heard her.

Her words sparked a heated discussion.

"I'm moving to a new place, I doubt the kids would want to change their locations." One replied.

"I can't afford other heads to feed."

"The kids are so young, I can't take care of them."

Excuses flew in, one after another. Eventually, Jacob had enough.

"ENOUGH! This isn't the appropriate time to discuss these matters." It's pathetic, really, that a 14-year-old had to bear the weight of the selfishness from adults.

Fortunately for Jacob, his parents were smart and well-off. Perhaps expecting their death, they already set aside a decent bit of money to use to take care of their children. Even having a separate savings account for Jacob to access once he turned 18 and graduated high school.

Eventually, they were able to settle in with a relative who reluctantly took them in. She was single with no kids and simply gave the money to Jacob and let him live in an empty apartment to take care of his siblings while she went partying and traveling. Was this illegal? Probably, but it was a really good outcome for Jacob.

In his most vital years, Jacob was forced to parent his siblings. He had to sacrifice many things but eventually, he got a good hold on how to take care of everything. He learned how to be an excellent cook, clean, and found the studying habits that worked best for him. He practically remade himself and became the Jacob known and loved today.

There were MANY struggles, but he made it out alive, but a day before graduating, before finally getting freedom, he died. How tragic.

Jacob opened his eyes, tears running down his face.

However, the god in front of him didn't seem to care.

"Wow! So a young child that was parentified, dead parents, a pack of white eye wolves for relatives, damn. You sure had it rough. You probably have a bunch of mental issues. Let me guess, you carry around the facade of a positive individual to hide your sadness and struggles because you're afraid of opening up? I can work with this" God excitedly yammers on.

Jacob clutches his fist.

"WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" His mental state clearly shaken as he had to relive his most traumatic memories.

"Chill out, it's just to increase entertainment value. A mary-sue is too boring, but a pretend mary-sue who's secretly mentally broken with their mystery slowly getting unraveled? Now that's a plot twist."

Jacob raises his fist, lunging at the anomaly.

Unbeknownst to him, the number above ticked to 0.

"Good luck!" The anomaly gleefully waves his hand and the white environment distorts into the wilderness.

"Ah fuck!" Jacob yelps out as his fist collides with a wooden tree.

-5 health A virtual screen pops out of nowhere reading 95/100 health along with a paper falling from the sky.

Flaw Repair Guide: Introduction to your New World

Jacob is bewildered but reads the page.

"So, you finally made it to the fantasy world! Since we only had a limited time to talk in the white void, this guidebook will give you the basic rundown of this world. Welcome to the world of Baloriant, Kudasawa!"

"It's Jacob" He thinks to himself.

But then, the words on the page start distorting.

"Jacob Lee, it's God. I'm rewriting this book now that you're not Kudasawa. Hot girls, overpowered abilities, that's too boring as you said. So, you'll be playing in a harder difficulty. You'll start off as weak and hopefully get stronger. And by weak, I mean weak. How exciting. To check your character screen, just state [status screen] in your mind or through voice."

Jacob does as the book says.

Status Screen

A holographic, light blue screen appears in front of his eyes.
