"I should have known that being happy doesn't suit me "
After over two hours, Brian finally interrogated all the students, and he could only come to one conclusion; Mike was a jerk and bully that was hated by everyone. His brows furrowed in frustration. He wasn't getting anywhere with his investigation.
" You think the whole class came together and did it ?" Paul asked him, going over the notes he had written.
" Of course not. .....I mean... I really don't know. " he said and sighed heavily. "Let's go back to the station and go over the notes together." Brian said and after talking to the principal and some teachers. He left with Paul.
Classes were free for the rest of the day. No teacher went to classes, leaving the students to chat and gossip about what happened.
During recess, Amanda was seated at her seat, AirPods in her ear, listening to one of Ariana Grande's song ,when suddenly she saw a dark shadow loom over her ,she looked up at who it was and couldn't help but sigh in annoyance . There were four boys in front of her and they were all Mike's friends. The people that bullied her with Mike.
"I heard you were the first person that was interrogated " one of them said poking her in the forehead. The other three just stood at his back, like bodyguards.
"Why were you the first person interrogated?" He said again not waiting for her to respond " You were the one who killed him right?" He said pushing her head back with her hand.
"No" Amanda replied calmly, for some reason she wasn't as scared as she usually was.
"You think I believe that .... You stupid fat ass bitch" he said and raised up his hand to slap her but another arm held his. He looked at the person who held his hand and couldn't help but scoff loudly.
"What's up with you David ?" He asked ,withdrawing his arms from David's hold.
"You should leave Jonas . You can't come into my class and disrupt it. Please go back to your class "
David's said, a stern look on his face.
Amanda stared up at his and her face was filled with confusion.
"Oh " Jonas said loudly and laughed " looks like little David is all grown up. ...what ? You suddenly feel like playing hero? " he asked with a mocking laugh.
"Just leave" David said again.
Jonas stared at him for a while and looked around the class to see everyone staring at him. He wasn't as strong an Mike so if everyone decided to gang up on him he won't be able to leave unscathed. With a big frown he turned to Amanda.
" You're going to pay for this." He said then he left.
David heaved a sigh of relief when he left then he turned to Amanda only to see her staring at him.
"Are you ok ? " he asked.
"Why?"Amanda asked back with an unreadable expression on her face.
"Huh?" David didn't know what she was talking about.
"Why did you help me?" She asked again.
"He was going to hit you " He replied. One part of him really hoped he could be friends with Amanda. He hoped with what happened he could get close to her.
"Wouldn't be the first time it was happening. Didn't you all watch while Mike hit me? Why didn't you help then?" She asked again
David's words were stuck in his throat. He didn't know what to say anymore. He felt guilty. Felt weak. Felt useless.
"I'm sorry " he replied with a low voice. His head hung low
"I don't need your apology. And I don't need your help. I'm used to it either way so this doesn't change anything. So stop trying to act like you care about me and just leave me alone " She said and laid her head on her table, ignoring David.
David just stood there,unsure of what to do next. Under everyone's gazes he walked slowly to his seat and just sat down staring into space.
