All around him, the demons broke from their motherly prisons. The moment they tasted the evil-laced river, they descended into insanity, or it was that they were just born this way.
No thoughts.
No questions.
Only vile madness.
Their roars and screeches echoed out as they launched themselves at each other like starving beasts.
Boom! Boom!
They bit, clawed, and kicked each other, their blood and flesh adding to the crimsonness of the water around them.
Veal's small body shivered as he took in the bloodshed. 'What a beautiful sight,' he said in his mind, as the demon blood that flowed within him cheered on the bloody dance of death.
Suddenly, his instincts warned him, and he immediately gazed downwards, where he saw a deformed demon swimming toward him.
It was as if something had stitched multiple arms from many different creatures to form its disgusting body.
His tail flicked, propelling him to the right, dodging the demon, after which he swung his right claw toward it at speeds beyond its reaction time and,
Splat!
His razor claw effortlessly dissected a portion of its arms, and its filthy blood poured into the water.
He then swung his right claw toward the other portion of its body, aiming to dissect it in half and,
Splat!
The demon's body split in half. He then grabbed its body parts and devoured them bit by bit. While he was eating, his instincts alerted him once more as an insect-like demon appeared a few meters behind.
His eyes narrowed, his glowing tails started contracting, and right before the demon could make contact with him, they shot out like two vipers,
Swish! Splat!
They immediately penetrated the shell of the demon and lodged into its brain.
Splat!
Right at that moment, he felt that he could do something extra with his tails. He focused, and seconds later, the arrow tips of his twin tails started vibrating at extreme speeds,
Zzzzz!
A second later, the spider demon's head exploded into bloody bits. 'I see, this is the innate ability of my species,' he thought as he began to devour the remains of the demon.
He noticed something: the demons in the surrounding area were gravitating towards him. His thoughts flashed, 'I am radiating the strongest presence within this area, so it makes sense for these mindless demons to subconsciously come toward me.' After which, his tail whipped as he shot toward a nearby demon. He currently had the advantage over these newborn demons; he was stronger, faster, and smarter, so he must make use of this head start before they caught up to him.
In no time, he appeared before the demon. His tail whipped, and his claws pierced the water,
Splat!
The demon could not resist; its bull-like body was immediately dissected and consumed by him.
He shot toward another demon who was fighting another demon ten meters away.
He immediately reached behind the unsuspecting demon, opened his mouth wide, aiming to devour its head whole.
Right at that moment, the demon sensed him and snapped its bird-like head around, but it was already too late, and,
Splat!
Darkness consumed its mind.
Veal started devouring the rest of its body bit by bit. In the process, his twin tail vibrated and whipped at the demon that the bird demon was fighting, aiming to explode its monkey-like head, which it did, for the demon was too slow to dodge.
He then wrapped his tail around its corpse and pulled it toward him, his mouth moving with extreme speed as he quickened his devouring of the bird-like demon.
Chump! Chump!
In no time, he devoured it, then started on the monkey demon. Soon, he finished it too. After which, he felt his vile blood blazing, cheering, urging him to continue killing.
He willingly embraced this urging.
With an insidious grin, his tail whipped to the extreme as he launched himself into a group battle that was raging two hundred meters to the left of him,
Whoosh!
He effortlessly penetrated the water as if he were one with it and arrived before the edge of the battle.
His eyes darted around as he searched for the demon most easily killed. A moment later, his eyes flashed as he saw a winged demon not too far from him, with a large wound across its chest.
His tail shot out. It extended beyond its original meter length to ten, and,
Splat!
It lodged itself into the eye socket of the demon, who wailed and tried to remove it, but its arrow shape kept it locked in place.
After which, it started contracting, pulling the demon toward him.
As she reached before him, he grabbed her head with his small hands, then pulled upwards, pulling her head and spine from her body. He devoured it spine first.
The other mindless demons were too locked in their battle to notice.
After finishing devouring her, he picked off another demon and devoured it, and another one and another.
He was like a silent reaper, his claws scythes of death, and his twin tails bloodthirsty vipers. With each movement, a demon's life was reaped.
Before you knew it, all six of the demons that were battling were consumed by him, becoming mere fuel for his growth.
He floated at the center of the carnage, his tail shining brighter than before, his blood boiling like never before, and even his heart drummed with so much might he thought it was about to explode,
Ba-dump! Ba-dump!
"More! I need more!"
He roared in his mind as he shot into the distance,
Whoosh!
He killed and killed, devoured and devoured, till he could not devour anymore.
For some reason, he could not grow anymore. He felt he had reached the limit of the strength his body enabled. His mind pulsed with wonder,
'Why is this?'
A second later, his mind flashed with understanding as part of his inherited memory surfaced.
'I have reached the end of the Blooding Rank, the rank that almost all demons are born.' His eyes wandered around as if he were searching for something. 'And to advance to the next rank, I must defeat a worthy opponent in a life-and-death battle and feed on its insides.'
Suddenly, his eyes stopped wandering as they locked on a shadow that was wreaking havoc about five kilometers west of him.
'You are worthy!'
He thought as he shot toward the demon.
