SPOILERS AHEAD.
I would also like to use this space for explanations for each stat.
[Mission - this is the Will of the Planet Earth, you cannot gain another Mission until the one you are currently on has been completed.]
This is intended to be the main way for the plot to move forward, the mission will be there no matter what, so not matter how side tracked the MC gets, he'll always know what he needs to get done. (Or at least, the one thing he should avoid doing for the longest.)
[Mind - your mental health. The lower your Mind gets, the closer you become to a slobbering brainless idiot who can do nothing but walk around and groan and occasionally attack who ever gets close.]
Mind -much like health in DOOM- cannot under normal circumstances regenerate. Meaning that just like the Slayer needs to go out and find health packs to regain Hp, the MC needs something symilar to regain Mind.
I thought it would take away from the suspense if I just made the MC be able to regain Mind through the health kits strewn through out the world, so instead I made it so that the way to regain mind is to read the lore, or through picking up the little hidden Easter eggs through out the map, simply because it seemed more interesting.
Of course, this only really works because the MC only loses Mind through death, or extreme suffering. So making the way to regain Mind less common is reasonable while still bringing suspense.
If the MC loses all of his mind, he will lose all intelligence he once had and revert to the most stupid version of the species that he currently is, entirely unable to think in any smart way.
That is until he obtains one of the Easter eggs of that level, reads lore, or dies and comes back the next time, where in he will be given 25% of his max Mind back, but lose all his Map progress. And be sent back to the begining of the level.
[Map - the more you move around, the more of your surroundings are revealed on a three dimensional map.]
The Map stat is used to explain how much of the landscape you have discovered, just like in DOOM but unlike Doom Guy, the MC doesn't have a HUD. But if he were to ever gain a helmet or computer with access to any kind of map function, then he would be able to access all the data he has gained in this stat. any tech that has the capability to have a map function at all, will have the Map data automatically downloaded into it.
Further more, whenever he has fully exited a level and moves on to the next, the Map stat will reset for the new level.
When the Map stat is reset, the Percentage it was at before, will push back against Malice equally.
Let's say the MC has completed 100% of the Map, and the MC has a Malice of 99% this 100% will then move to the Malice stat and subtract the percentage from the Malice stat.
Meaning, the more the Map is completed, the more Malice will be pushed back to 0% by the time the level is completed. (Stopping at zero, so no negative percentiles)
If you have 75% Malice by the end of the level, but only 25% of the map complete, then by the start of the new level, you will have 50% malice.
[Mutation - the more you die, the bigger the number gets. And the more optimized you form becomes. If you reach 100% mutation, you will reach the peak of the type of creature you are. But you will also be given the opportunity to 'Evolve']
Just like a Pokémon, once you reach a certain percentage, you can evolve.
The Evolution options are based off the actions you took in your previous form. And even if you reach 100% mutation, you don't need to evolve, and can continue to do things that might gain you an new Evolution path during the process.
Once you have been asked to choose between your options, you will no longer be able to back out of your own evolution. And it will be chosen randomly if you take too long.
You can gain anywhere from one to nine choices, but it will more typically be be around five. The number of choices is always odd.
[Magic - you gain magic when you evolve into a species or class that has magic.]
When you gain magic, the percentile of your mana gain will be different based on the kind of magic you have gained.
Hell Magic is Malice minus Mind,
Sentinel Magic is Mind minus Malice,
And Earthling Magic is Map minus Malice.
There is also other kinds of Magic, but the MC currently has no evolution pathways capable of accessing them. (This will change.)
[Malice - the greater the stat becomes the more savage and bloodthirsty you become. At 100% Malice, the Berserker state will be set to true. While in the Berserker state, all control over yourself will be lost. Lasts anywhere from one, to one hundred minutes, based on your Mind.]
The easiest way I can describe the Berserk state is that the percentage of your Malice will degenerate to match your Mind at a rate of one minute per single percent.
So if you have 99% Mind but a Malice of 100%, and you go into a berserk state, then the state will only last for one minute, but your malice will only go down to 99% as well, before the state is once again set to false.
Berserk state can only be activated the moment after the Malice percentage attempts to reach past 100%
If the Mind stat reaching 0% is like a mental death, then the Malice stat reaching 100% is like a moral death. You stop caring completely whether or not anyone but yourself lives or dies. And you get more sadistic and brutal in your actions.
Malice typically increases per death. At a percentage dependent on how much the death unsettled you, the Mind degrades for the same reason.
Malice, just like Mind, does not passively regenerate or degenerate on it's own under normal circumstances.

That's all for now, thanks for reading this, it's a bit of a slog, but I wanted there to be a place to get this stuff, if you don't care about the MC discovering it for himself.
