Chapter 2 - Mother

"Your Legacy?" Lukas asked, wanting to know more about it, while suppressing the excitement surging in his heart.

He knew this was his 'fortunate encounter' which would most probably pull him out of mediocrity.

At age twelve, on his mana awakening ceremony, he had failed to sense mana. This meant he had no affinity with mana and he was doomed to remain an ordinary person.

Cases like this weren't rare as countless people failed to sense mana in their awakening ceremonies. However, because he was a son of a noble and powerful mage, he wasn't supposed to be ordinary.

But the truth was, he was and so, his father all but abandoned him and his other family members started looking down on.

One could imagine if even someone's own family was treating them like they were failures and worthless, just how outsiders would treat them?

Wherever he went, whoever he met, he saw the disdain and ridicule in their eyes. This made the original Lukas very sad, but what could he do about it—nothing.

This was also why, when Lukas realized whose body he had transmigrated into, he wasn't thrilled despite the wondrous nature of the magic world.

'But all that is going to change now.' He thought, taking a deep breath.

As if the blurry figure could read his mind, it chuckled with a slight mocking undertone, "Heh, If I were you, I wouldn't be so sure about it. After all, you are among the most ordinary of people. Why would I bestow my legacy upon you?"

Lukas' pupil constricted when he heard this and began asking, "You can–"

He, however, was interrupted.

"Tsk! Even those puny spirit realm Mages can read your mind, let alone I." The figure scoffed, the rumbling caused by his voice causing his mind to quake.

"Alright, I have no time to waste talking about useless stuff." The figure's tone changed. After pausing for a few moments, seemingly allowing Lukas to come to his senses, it continued,

"Though you aren't desirable to receive my legacy, since you were fortunate enough to obtain it, I'll allow it. But beware, while my legacy will allow you to change your destiny, it'll cause you to face many hard challenges."

Hearing this, Lukas' nervous heart relaxed. Thankfully, the figure didn't deny him the legacy.

After the figure finished speaking, it started becoming blurry, "...From this day onwards, you are my, #**@@#, legacy disciple. I wish you the best and hope to meet you soon…"

As these words sounded, it completely disappeared, and as it did, the colorless hall became blurry and a vast amount of information surged into his mind, causing him to blank out.

After what felt like a very long time, Lukas regained consciousness and slowly opened his eyes.

Shua!

"Mistress, Young Lord is awake!"

Immediately, he heard Oriana's chirpy voice.

She was standing at the foot of his bed, looking at him with a relieved expression on her face.

He gave her a small smile before tilting his head upwards and looking at the woman sitting beside him.

'Whoa! How beautiful!'

The moment he saw her, he couldn't help but exclaim in his mind while his eyes imprinted her incredibly beautiful visage in his mind.

Honestly, he hadn't seen any woman back on earth, no matter if they were an actress, model, or idol, who could remotely come close to her be it in terms of beauty or charm.

She was dressed in a beautiful, sky blue gown, the top part of which clung to her body, enhancing her womanly charms. Her long, silvery white hair was tied into a long braid that fell down her back while a few locks of hair framed her oval face.

Her skin was fair and tender, and her glossy pink lips, neither too full nor too thin, were just perfect enough to enhance her beauty. Her nose was small but perfect.

Currently, her black eyes were staring down at him with a hint of concern and confusion in them while her willowy, silvery eyebrows were slightly furrowed.

Noticing this, Lukas hurriedly snapped back to his senses, realizing it wasn't appropriate of him to stare at her like this because she was none other than his mother—Helen, fifth wife of his father, Raymond Rivervale.

"Are you alright, honey?" She asked, her soft, melodious voice music to his ears.

"Y-Yes, Mother. Other than some weakness and a slight headache, I'm perfectly fine now." Lukas said, his voice coming out low because of how weak he currently was.

"That's a relief." She nodded and glanced at Oriana. "Hurry, go and prepare a nutritious meal for my son."

Oriana nodded and hurried away.

Helen then talked to him for a short while before asking, "Do you want to take a bath, honey? It'll help you relax your body."

"Yes, Mother. I would like to, but I don't think I can leave the bed for a while now." Lukas smiled wryly.

Helen nodded her head in understanding but said, "Don't worry, I'll help you bathe."

Saying this, she put her hands under his shoulders and knees, easily lifting him up. Lukas' face reddened, embarrassed.

He was no girl and didn't like to be carried this way but didn't object because he didn't want her to deny this opportunity to express her motherly love, something she rarely was able to do because of how busy she had been with things inside and outside the Viscount Mansion. Instead, he put his arms around her neck and rested his head on her shoulder before closing his eyes.

'Thankfully, she didn't notice anything strange with me.' He heaved an internal sigh of relief.

While he had inherited all of the original Lukas' memories, he was no longer him and knew that no matter how hard he tried, he wouldn't be able to imitate his behavior perfectly.

While he wasn't worried about anyone else finding anything out because he rarely interacted with anyone after his awakening ceremony seven years ago, he was worried about being found out by his mother, younger sister, and Oriana.

'I'm safe for now because there hasn't been much interaction with Oriana and her. But going forward, I need to be careful.'

While it was necessary to be careful, he wasn't too concerned about it because even if they noticed some abnormality in her behavior, they would think it was because of the near-death experience.

Suddenly, he noticed something and became aghast.

'Fuck! Calm down, you horny bastard!' He internally shouted.
