The cave entrance was approximately one and a half metre tall, fifty centimetres wide, eerily dark and totally silent.
I can barely fit in there. Kotami thought.
Even though he was malnourished he wasn't short, his life in the fields allowing him to develop a lean physique.
Kotami stood there calmly, his breathes deep and mind too tired to fire off alarm signals anymore.
The appearance of a cave isn't strange since I have strayed quite far off the path. He thought to himself.
Someone surely owns this cave, but I have no choice besides going inside.
Kotami thought, steeling himself as he prepared to enter the cave driven by survival will and the attraction to the force emanating from deep within the cave.
He took one last deep breath and steadily made his into the cave.
***
The cave was quite deep, he had at least walked a couple hundred of metres, but there was no sign of anything, just the eerie silence and echo of his steps to accompany him.
After another five minutes of walking, the cave's corridor started to become wider and taller. The smell of the damp soil permeated the environment and the puddles of water soaked through Kotami's star shoes, making his feet possibly even heavier to move than before.
If I don't find the end of this cave shortly, I'll just settle down and come back out tomorrow morning if I have recovered enough.
Kotami thought so as he felt the satchel containing the old boiled rice tied inside his outsized old and torn shirt.
Determined to do one last push before giving up, Kotami kept walking.
Then suddenly *thud*
As he lost the ground beneath his feet, he fell down face first onto the hard rock floor bruising his chin.
His eyes still struggling to adapt to the fully dark environment could barely capture the now wider 'main chamber' of the cave.
The important thing that immediately put him back on guard was a corner of the cave emitting the force which had lured him into the cave.
Turning around, he could see a yellow shape in that corner of the cave, about 20 meters away from himself.
He knew that It, was the source of the familiar force.
Coming a little closer he more clearly grasped the form of the yellow figure: about a meter tall, a yellow and brown exoskeleton, a yellow tail and a fox like face.
It too, after kotami's noise had woken it up, through its tightly squinted eyes was studying Kotami curiously.
What Pokémon is that??
As kotami was thinking this, the freshly awoken abra was feeling a vague sense of familiarity to the figure in front of itself.
Curious, it began to project its psychic sense to probe into Kotami.
As soon as the 'spiritual sense' touched him, Kotami's own 'spirituality' started to rampage.
*bang*
An explosion ran through both of their minds as their spirituality interlocked.
Kotami and abra saw each other's distorted and warping flashbacks, emotions and thoughts mixing wildly. The tripping sensory experience almost driving both mad.
One moment Kotami was abra and then a third person in abra's memory, sometimes both at the same time. Were it not for the fact that this realm of being didn't adhere to logic and everything was happening in pico-seconds in the real world Kotami would have thrown up.
He saw as the abra was born, 'his' infancy with 'his' kadabra mom and how one day some humans attacked her and took her away, leaving abra who was hiding behind a tree alone and utterly terrified.
Kotami feeling abra's emotions that day, knew that those were kanto league trainers sent by the league to capture Pokémon from around the viridian forest to use as disposables during the war with johto.
That being the reason why such few Pokémon, especially the strong ones, were left in the viridian forest and its surrounding.
Abra too saw kotami's past, his parents' death and life of abnegation in the fields, through their distorting, trippy, connection.
After what felt like hours, it suddenly ended.
Kotami and abra were trembling, their mind tortured to the point of numbness, a faint, less conspicuous thread still connecting both their minds.
Still feeling each other's presence, emotions and thoughts, albeit in a way more subtle and muffled fashion, they shot a look at each other.
Their eyes crossed.
An immediate flash of understanding conveyed.
Now, they were in this together.
