Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: Shadows of Dragons and Schemes

The Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon hovered above the Lawrence estate. Its three heads moved slowly, its body massive and hard to ignore. The sky turned pale gold around it as the last sunlight hit its metallic scales. Below it, Schubert Lawrence lay in the courtyard, breathing heavily. Dust clung to his expensive clothes, and his cane was thrown aside. But instead of fear, he was smiling.

"This is it," he said to no one. "The Lawrence name will rise again. With Eula wielding that... thing, we can take back Mondstadt."

He believed Eula had always planned this. Infiltrating the Knights, earning trust, and then revealing her true loyalty. To him, the dragon was proof that she was executing some long-term strategy to restore their family's power. He saw her as a hidden hero of the nobility.

Meanwhile, the dragon's appearance caused panic across Mondstadt. People poured into the streets, pointing at the sky. Some ran. Others just stared.

"Not again!" a merchant shouted. "Stormterror yesterday, this thing today?"

A vendor grabbed her flowers as they flew away in the wind kicked up by the dragon's presence. Citizens shouted for help, guards scrambled, and fear quickly spread. Many remembered the damage Stormterror had caused less than 24 hours ago. The city had barely recovered.

At the Knights of Favonius headquarters, Kaeya stood by the window watching the dragon. A junior knight burst in and saluted.

"Sir Kaeya, a three-headed dragon is flying over the Lawrence estate!"

Kaeya didn't reply at first. He studied the creature. It didn't seem hostile—just large and impressive. Jean was still out with Lumine handling Stormterror. That left him in charge.

Lisa arrived shortly after, calm as ever. "It's Eula's," she said. "From that comic shop. Another of Harlan's cards."

Kaeya frowned. "You're sure it's not a threat?"

"It's a Yu-Gi-Oh thing. It's flashy, but harmless unless someone plays the game. Eula's showing off."

Kaeya relaxed a bit. He'd heard the rumors about Galehaven Comics. Lisa and Amber both had new powers from those comics. This must be another example.

"I'll visit that shop once Jean gets back," he said. Then, to the junior knight, "Tell the people it's a training exercise. Keep everyone calm."

Outside the city, a lone Abyss Mage fled through Windrise. It had barely escaped the failed Stormterror plan. It had watched as Jean and Lumine ruined their corruption ritual. Now it was alone, trying to regroup and report back.

Then it saw the Ultimate Dragon.

It froze. The sight overwhelmed it. "What is that thing? Stronger than Stormterror?" it whispered. But soon its fear turned to ambition.

If the Abyss could corrupt this dragon, their power would multiply. The mage disappeared into the wind, determined to inform its leader—the Abyss Prince.

Back in the courtyard, Eula dismissed the dragon. Her Duel Disk powered down, and the glow around her faded. She was calm, slightly winded, but not shaken. Schubert stood nearby, clearly impressed.

"If this is how you'll bring honor back to us, Eula, you've surpassed every Lawrence before you."

She looked at him, confused by the compliment. "It's just a card game," she said, already walking away.

Mondstadt, however, was already buzzing. People gossiped, Kaeya made plans, and the Abyss had taken notice. Harlan Flint's comic shop had just attracted new attention—from both inside and outside Mondstadt.

Reflection:Eula revealed the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, creating city-wide panic and drawing attention from Kaeya, Lisa, and even the Abyss Order. Schubert misread her intent, believing she was loyal to the Lawrence cause. Kaeya is now fully aware of Harlan's shop and plans to investigate. Meanwhile, the Abyss Mage sees the Ultimate Dragon as a new potential weapon. Harlan's comics continue to escalate the stakes for Mondstadt.
